To be loved or not be loved, that is the question.
Love is a two-sided word that requires cooperation from both sides. In the poem, "She Loves Me" by Emmett Williams, the male (author) counterpart loves the woman mentioned. the poem is about a cop;e that has no more love in the relationship. First, they are happy. they get into a fight, and after a long series of events, the female is no longer in a relationship with the male. the theme of the love is to give up hopeless love. "she loves me. she". when the female leaves the first time, they attempt to rekindle the relationship, but to no avail. There is no use trying because both sides, male and female know that there is no way to maintain the love they had for one another before. Love is
unforgiving when one side collapses and gives up; both side are interdependent in order for love to successfully happen.
First of all the question rises what is love. Love is having a sense of security in someone. When we love someone we usually mean that we can turn to that person comfortably if all other doors of the world are shut to us. This is the one person that we trust and like to be in company with. In the novel Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano loves Roxane more than anyone else but he is shy to tell her so. When he finds out of her feelings towards another character Christian, who she likes because of his looks, Cyrano finds a way to express his love to Roxane. He decides that he would write to her in the name of Christian who comparatively is a poor writer and "wishes to make Christian his interpreter"(II,85).
Most of the time love is our encouragement when we are in trouble, sometimes love can drag us to things we don’t want to happen in our lives. “First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried letters from a girl named Martha, a junior at Mount Sebastian College in New Jersey. They were love letters, but Lieutenant Cross was hoping, so he kept them folded in plastic at the bottom of his rucksack.” (p.1) The letters from Martha signed, “Love Martha” even though the letters were not love letters, Lieutenant Jimmy Cross understands that he doesn’t receive the type of love he hopes for from Martha.
Love is the intense feeling of deep affection. For example, feeling a deep attraction to someone. Love doesn’t judge, nor life. Love is patient, kind, and understanding. Love never fails, it always triumph over anything. When you love someone, you fall in love with all of them. You can’t just love the caring and gentle side of them but you have to love the hard edges too, and grumpy moods. You have to love the storm, as well as the sunshine. Love is not always going to be easy but you have to fight if it’s really what you want. And sadly in some cases one person’s love is not enough, and everything just comes tumbling down. Not everyone is going to get their happily ever after. In Silvina Ocampo’s “The House Made of Sugar”, she writes about
Love and affection is an indispensable part of human life. In different culture love may appear differently. In the poem “My god my lotus” lovers responded to each other differently than in the poem “Fishhawk”. Likewise, the presentation of female sexuality, gender disparity and presentation of love were shown inversely in these two poems. Some may argue that love in the past was not as same as love in present. However, we can still find some lovers who are staying with their partners just to maintain the relationship. We may also find some lovers having relationship only because of self-interest. However, a love relationship should always be out of self-interest and must be based on mutual interest. A love usually obtains its perfectness when it develops from both partners equally and with same affection.
Love is powerful and could change a person’s personality. In “The Book of Unknown Americans”, the author Christina Hernriquez tells us the definition of love. It is a book combined with different stories but each story is connected to others. It talks about the immigrants that moved to America with lots of hope, but didn’t end up with a happy ending. The story is about love, hope and guilt and different kinds of emotional feeling. In the book, Mayor has an internal change because of Maribel, and the power of love. He wants to be a strong man who can protect Maribel. He used to be someone who couldn’t defend himself and he changed because of Maribel.
Sappho, who is very well the speaker and author of the poem, clearly recognizes the substantial impact that love creates in relation to the amount of happiness people experience. Those who are successful in the game love, whether it be by giving it or receiving it, are far happier than those who confront despair and rejection. Finding love means finding the acceptance, companionship, and most of all, happiness that everyone strives to receive in their lifetime. As a result, love becomes a weapon for power, superiority, and control.
Love has the power to do anything. Love can heal and love can hurt. Love is something that is indescribable and difficult to understand. Love is a feeling that cannot be accurately expressed by a word. In the poem “The Rain” by Robert Creeley, the experience of love is painted and explored through a metaphor. The speaker in the poem compares love to rain and he explains how he wants love to be like rain. Love is a beautiful concept and through the abstract comparison to rain a person is assisted in developing a concrete understanding of what love is. True beauty is illuminated by true love and vice versa. In other words, the beauty of love and all that it entails is something true.
A girl is told from a young age of how one day she will meet this wonderful man, which will be her prince charming and if she loves him she will get married to her prince charming. She starts her analysis of what love is by talking about how love means different things based on if it a guy or a girl answering the question. A women who is in love is lost in the love. She is solely devoted to the person that she is in love with, while for man it is more of just a person who happily receives such admiration and love and devotion. The social construction of love will have the women lost and becoming very submissive to this man whom she is in love with. Whom without she can’t exist or at least she feels she can’t and when he is gone she loses
Mankind's intense yearning for love leads him to what seems to be an unending search for it. Man spends too much time searching for love; but not fully understanding its purpose. Love is a gift from one person to another, and thus it has the ability to posses many different meanings. Often, in search of love people fall into the trap of trying to alter love to suit personal fantasies of what it should be. Frequently spending their time convincing themselves of what they can change about the other, instead of how they can work to accept them. "I was one of those women whose fate is to take a war out of a man, or at least imagine she is doing so.
Love has many definitions and can be interpreted in many different ways. William Maxwell demonstrates this in his story “Love”. Maxwell opens up his story with a positive outlook on “Love” by saying, “Miss Vera Brown, she wrote on the blackboard, letter by letter in flawlessly oval palmer method. Our teacher for fifth grade. The name might as well have been graven in stone” (1). By the end of the story, the students “love” for their teachers no longer has a positive meaning, because of a turn in events that leads to a tragic ending. One could claim that throughout the story, Maxwell uses short descriptive sentences with added details that foreshadow the tragic ending.
...gh love is a personal feeling it still needs, most of the time, society’s acceptance to become concrete. If society and its norms judge that a love shouldn’t happen and that it isn’t real (even if it is) it usually will not work out, it will be destined to fail. It is said that “all you need is love”, but that is rarely the case. Most people feel like they need acceptance and that will not happen if they break society’s norms, even love is subordinate to those norms.
“He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not,” was a twisted film that shed light on some of the topics that we discussed this semester. Reality is defined as the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them. Everyone has their own idea of reality and how they view life depends on this reality. We saw that Angelique’s perception of reality was very abstract, she took a simple act of kindness and twisted it into the start of a love affair. In her mind it was the beginning steps of her and Doctor Loic’s relationship.
Poets and philosophers for centuries have been trying to answer the question, what is love? Love has an infinite number of definitions, which vary from one person to another. Love cannot be measured by any physical means. One may never know what true love is until love it- self has been experienced. What is love? A four letter word that causes a person to behave in a way that is out of character. What is love? A first kiss, childhood crushes on a teacher or friend’s mom. What is love? A choice that people make by putting their partner’s wishes, desires and needs above everything else. What is love? The act of forgiveness, the infatuation with someone, the communication between two people. What is love? A friendship that turned into a lifelong commitment, that special someone who has vowed to spend the rest of their lives to honor and protect, to love each other “till death do you part.” When in love nothing else in the world matters. According to the online Encarta Dictionary love is the passionate feeling of romantic and sexual desire and longing for somebody. Poets and philosophers may never know what love really is, and we may never truly understand the question what is love.
Love is the underlying motive behind a lot of our actions. Love is the reason why we form special bonds with others and why some create a life together. Yet few of us are experts at love. When we are asked to define love, most of us are perplexed by dissimilar discernments of the intangible neurological condition. We thus start to feel inept. Still we have an idea of what love is and most would agree that it is more easily experienced than defined. In the short story “Beginners,” Carver fruitlessly attempts to define love through each of the characters’ distinct insight and encounter with love.
“Love is universally accepted by many people and the concept of love within the English language refers to a variety of different approaches, states and attitudes, ranging from pleasure to interpersonal attraction.” (Kendrick 123) My characterization of love encourages the intimate emotion I partake for my family. The distinct connection that we fashioned and the invaluable moments that we consolidated. In the perceptive of a mother, my children are my supremacy and the greatest blessing of my lifecycle. They’re my inspiration and motivation to continue progressing and becoming the best at what I do. With that in mind, Love relics your outlooks and approaches the linkage they become associated with. Consequently, this condition can fluctuate over a period of a specific time. Additionally, depending on your situation, your perspective on love can be an altering affect, creating a stable or inconsistent assessment. Furthermore, causing your love to intensify, decline, or even cease. Love in its essence, stands justly powerful and the beauty of it advances,
