In the 2018 Olympics Shaun White rightfully won the gold medal in the men's halfpipe. There was a question in which whether Shaun White should have gotten the gold medal in the 2018 Olympics. I believe that Connor Manning was correct in giving Shaun White the gold medal. Shaun White earned the gold medal because of his technique, skill, and amplitude. One of the reasons Shaun White obtained the gold medal was because of his technique and the amount of his air. Another reason, was because the risk of his run. The final reason was because the judges liked his run better than the other runs. Overall, that is why Shaun White deserved the gold medal in the 2018 men's halfpipe.
Shaun White got the gold medal in the 2018 Olympics because of his technique and amount of air. Furthermore, if you are just looking at the technical parts of Shaun White's run you would be able to see that he had more rotations. Manning commented, ¨Shaun's run was just that much bigger than Ayumu.¨ This quote shows that Shaun White's run was better because of its back-to-back 1440s that required four full rotations. Another trick that was challenging for White to pull off was a

signature move called the double Mctwist. In this trick he grabbed the inside of his binding and the outside of his knee. This is impressive because it is the first time he has pulled off the 1440s in a competition. Furthermore, if you are just looking at the technical parts of Shaun White's run you would be able to see that he had more rotations and had a more technical run than his competitors. Another reason why Shaun White got the gold medal in the 2018 Olympics was because of the risks that he took to complete these tricks. In an article written by Cork Gaines he said that the reason that Shaun White is so good at snowboarding is because of how high he can get out of the lip of the halfpipe. Cork wrote, ¨with so much speed White is able to get higher on jumps allowing for more time to complete better and more complicated tricks¨. This quote explains the risks of falling from that height. The quote also says that Shaun White has to reach these high speeds to do well and pull off complex tricks. Shaun White takes a lot of risk which allows him to perform better and have the confidence to do complicated tricks. The final reason Shaun White got the gold medal is because the judges liked his run better than the other runs. An article written by NBC they said that there was not an exact way to measure a snowboarder score. The reason for this is because scoring is based off of how you do against other competitors. An article written by NBC they said ¨There is no true universal consensus on "deductions" or how to determine an exact score.¨ This quote shows that snowboarding scoring isn't perfect and can come down to the judge's decision. Overall, snowboarding scoring isn't an exact science and is left to the judge's to decide the scores. Some people might say that the judges favor Shaun White and that there was not a huge difference between Ayumu and Shaun´s performance.
Sins Shaun White is older he has more experience therefore has better skills and more confidence which allows him to receive a better score no matter who is judging him. "Considering the circumstances, the pressure he was under, I think Shaun today was the best I have ever seen him," he said. "You have to credit him. He was outstanding."Shaun White rightfully won the gold medal in the 2018 Olympics even though Ayumu said that Shaun White had one of his best runs and he felt that it could have gone either way. That isn't true because Shaun White has had more experience because of his age. In summary Shaun White rightfully won the gold medal because of his skill and
experience. In the men's 2018 halfpipe Shaun White received the gold medal for his impressive run. One of the reasons Shaun White received the gold medal was because of his skill and amount of height he was getting. Another reason why Shaun White got the gold medal was because he went for the gold and tried his best. The final reason Shaun White got the gold medal is because the judges thought he had an overall better run. Shaun White rightfully won the gold medal in the 2018 Olympics for his amplitude, types of tricks, and judges decisions.
The Rabbits by John Marsden and Shaun Tan is a simple but revealing picture book that satirically depicts the historical tragedy of the past aboriginals during the first and last settlement of the Europeans and ridiculing the Europeans behaviour using animal illustrations. The book is set in an indigenous point of view with the specific use of words and illustrations, as the story is told and viewed by the unexpected arrival of an unknown species called “The Rabbits.” This gives the readers an insight of what the story will be about and by using such illustrations that portrays the two as animals will position the readers into showing the emotions felt by the indigenous and the destructive prowess of the Europeans.
...hrough immense poverty, segregation, and was undervalued by his peers. Jesse Owens was ridiculed by many in the Nazi party during the 1936 Olympics but he ignored their hateful looks and instead saw himself as an athlete and not an icon of the inferiority of his race and he was able to prove them wrong with outstanding track and field accomplishments. He is an inspirational symbol for the injustice of racial profiling and is a role model to athletes everywhere.
In an article titled, "This "Miracle on Ice" is considered to be the single most incredible moment in all of U.S. sports history. When coach Herb Brooks was made the team's coach, he spent a lot of time reviewing and searching for the right people for the team. Seeing as Brooks was the last man cut from the 1960 U.S. Olympic team, He wanted to do everything he could to win gold for his country. Once try outs started Brooks knew who he wanted on his team after one day. All of the players trying out were in college. The United States and Herb Brooks had picked their Olympic team after the first day of a week of try outs. After picking the team Herb had trained and prepared the team for the Olympics for over a year and a half. He had to prepare them for to face the Soviets. Brooks knew there was no matching them in speed, so he emphasized working on speed, conditioning, and discipline. Doing this my not make them as fast of the
The Olympics take place every two years and allow athletes from all over the world to compete against other Olympians. These individuals are given the world’s stage as large television and radio stations broadcast the games all over the globe and are allowed the opportunity to demonstrate their world-class skill as they compete against others with good sportsmanship and respect. Jimmy Carter’s boycott took away the once in a lifetime opportunity for many athletes to preform at the highest level of competition. Renaldo Nehemiah is one example of an athlete whose opportunity to compete in the Olympics was stolen by the boycott. Before the 1980 Olympics, Nehemiah was expected to win the gold medal in the hurdles. Nehemiah states, "Nothing was accomplished by our boycott in 1980." He said, "It was very disheartening, using sport as a way to achieve political ends. . . . It was difficult for me personally. I was 21 years old and the best in the world, but I 've never walked into an Olympic stadium as an athlete, and that 's still hard. It took a lot of years before I could even talk about it." The strong reactions of the athletes to Jimmy Carter’s decision to boycott the games shows that he didn’t have the support of the people who were the most important to the games, the athletes.
Throughout America’s history there have been countless influential leaders that have proudly been American. Those have held positions of politicians, soldiers, and . Kanye Omari West has opened the eyes of today's generation and still continues to shape American history. His musical influence has transformed the lives of countless people. Inspiring many to stand up and fight for what they believe in is something Kanye West continues to do even today.. Also, opening the eyes of many to racial injustice towards African American citizens. I’ll further elaborate my claim in the following paragraphs using historical evidence.

Additionally, Aleksandr Dityatin of Russia won a medal in all of the men’s gymnastics events, earning him the title of being the first athlete to win eight Olympic medals in one game. “It comes right here, 3 ½ revolution, triple axel, double toe loop… beautifully landed,” a voice in the background exclaims as an elegant skater gracefully lands her jump on the ice. That background voice has been heard by thousands, but many don’t know who it belongs to. It belongs to a petite male, who had awed a great number of people with his vigorous jumps on the Olympic ice skating rink. That voice belongs to Scott Hamilton, who grew up being made fun of, who overcame a number of health problems, who took the challenges life struck him with, for granted. Scott Hamilton is not only considered one of the best figure skaters of all time, but he is also a great role model, because despite the fact that he had a tough childhood, nonstop Olympic practice to deal with, and then later a cancer and brain tumor diagnosis; he always kept a good attitude and determination.
That is not the end of the story. Later on, the runners had to take a urinalysis. All of the runners passed but one, Ben Johnson. He tested positive for anabolic steroid use. It was later discovered that he'd been using steroids for several years. He was striped of his gold medal and his world record. Carl Lewis was given the gold and the world record ("Ben Johnson").
It is evident that Jesse Owens proved to the world what no one at the time believed could be achieved. At a time when Blacks were not equal, there was no appreciation possible in the eyes of the Americans until the civil rights movement following after the cold war. Jesse Owens dealt with much more than any African American could ever imagine. Regardless of his immense achievements, Owens did not receive recognition for such important winnings until several years after the 1936 Olympics. Despite the hate that Owens received, he was able to surpass such negativity by being involved in other organizations and through this, Owens was victorious not only on the track but also as normal human being.
The events and games of the Olympics are of several different types. There are individual contests, where each athlete plays alone. To win this type of contests, one athlete must be better, faster, or stronger than other athletes.
Wangyot is a transgender female, so she was born a man but identifies as a woman. Her school administration worked together to come up with a policy to allow Wangyot to compete during the school year because she wanted to participate in girl’s volleyball, girl’s basketball, and girl’s track. Wangyot decided she wanted to participate in these sports because she wanted to set an example for all other transgender students interested in being a student-athlete. In the state championship race, Wangyot placed third in one event and fifth in another. Wangyot showed that there is not much of an advantage to her because she did not win. There are still other girls faster than her, even though she was born male (USA Today High School Sports
When Lance was thirteen, a couple of his friends and him were loitering by the Richardson Bike Shop (a local bike shop by his house), when they discovered a flyer for an Ironkid's Triathlon. He told his mother about the triathlon, and she bought him everything he needed for the race, his uniform, and his first racing bike; a slim, elegant Mercier road bike. Lance joined the Ironkids triathlon, and ended up winning without even training for it. Pretty soon, he was entering triathlons in the...
Watching the Olympics is like watching amazing physical feats unfold before your eyes. Bars are set, limits are broken, and every person who got there has a story of perseverance and dedication, but the one which appealed most to me was the story of Usain Bolt.
