The author is trying to communicate through the story about preserving the environment (trees and animals). He thinks that the humans have destroyed the beauty of the nature. The speaker is also showing us his in depth experience of the place. The audience is everyone in this world who wants to learn about the nature and the contact of the people living generations before us with the environment. People who want to learn about preserving the environment can also be considered the audience.

The author want to make people realise the importance of nature and wants people to preserve environment by saying trees and animals. The author also wants the audience to realise how the people generations before us use to live without the facilities that we have in today’s world. The reader could be benefited from this essay by feeling the scenery which the author is describing in great detail. The audience can feel this without being at the place. The audience can also learn to appreciate whatever we have in this world.

The essay has made me realise to preserve the environment and not use the environment for my own purposes. Along with that, the author does a great job in describing the places that he visits during this story which is very helpful in getting the interest of the audience. The author is using some of the view he is seeing to show the audience. Such as “Here, two bison, their bodies ………..how long it must have taken.” This shows how humans being cruel to those innocent animals, killing them for their own
