Shakespeare relevance in our modern day William Shakespeare is widely known as the best play write, actor, and poet to have ever lived. To this day, we constantly bring Shakespeare up in our school projects, novels and plays. Of course the reason for this is mainly revolving around the great impact his plays have on the audience. Not only do William Shakespeare’s plays introduce a great sense of dramatics, they also begin to cover the topic of romance. Those who have never heard of Shakespeare might just be thinking,” Well okay, he shows romance and drama in his plays, who doesn’t?” This isn’t quite the case with Shakespeare; he incorporates the point of view of people and the life that many can relate to, full of separate divisions of people with completely different views on society. There is lots of history behind Shakespeare but the main reason people are still so caught up on him to this day is because of his plays and the messages and meaning they send out to people. “A whiny college student evidently overeducated and underemployed comes home for break, sees a ghost and dithers”. –(Petri) In this quote Petri is explaining how Shakespeare’s most famous play “Hamlet” shows the life of a college student, and basically dissects what they go through in life; The whiny college student, being educated and ready, is not receiving much authority and in need of a path. All this is a great example because after knowing what this play is about and what meanings it holds it has an impact on us by giving us examples of the life events we will go through.     The ability of an author to capture the interest of the audience has and will always be an important factor in the art of storytelling and even the expression of research or related material. When an author is able to seize the attention of any partaking of their work, curiosity will develop which will lead to the wonder of what the conclusion my bring about. Not only is it important to snatch the audience’s attention in the beginning, it is necessary to hold it prisoner throughout the tale. Authors do this by having an interesting plot development in which many unexpected details come into play and the course of the story is thrown from the norm and into the conflict. Shakespeare was a master of this art in the work he produced throughout his life and was able to create stories of humor and those of tragedy. For example, his play King Lear is a terrible tragedy in which many awful things take place and the story ends by disastrous means. While in the play Much Ado About Nothing, very little conflict is present and if it is, it is resolved quickly and the play concludes with the joyfulness of marriage nuptials.
