Through watching and analyzing the first video we have learned: James and Marlene Johnson have five year old boy named Brad. It has come to the attention of Mrs. Johnson, there son Brad may have been sexually abused by their babysitter Mary Stanton. Mary Stanton is being accused of sexually touching Brad’s penis in the bathtub and undressing him. Brad also told his mother, Mary had undressed in front of Brad by taking off her shoes and top. Brad had told his mother Mary pulled on his penis twice. Mary Stanton has been babysitting Brad for approximately one year and is with Brad weekly. Mary is 20 years old, is a part time student at TCI, and pursuing a career in education. Mrs. Johnson was asked if she could ever smell alcohol of Mary Stanton’s …show more content…
breath and she said, “It could be possible.” After being provided with a brief history of the people involved, the video went into sitting down with Mary Stanton and interviewing her about the issue. During the interview Mary was asked several questions related to her touching Brad in any sexual way.
When Mary was asked has she ever touched Brad sexually she stated, “No.” Mary was asked was there ever a time where she had to touch his penis, Mary said, “I did not fondle Brad’s penis, but instead pushed it between his legs to go pee, so he would not pee everywhere.” Throughout the interview Mary remained calm and straight forward when been asked questions about ever having sexual relations with Brad. Mary said, “I would never touch someone sexually because she has a brother and would never wish that upon anyone.” Mary had told her parents and boyfriend about the interview before coming. Her parents had asked her if she wanted an attorney but, she denied to have an attorney as she said, “I do not need one and I will tell only the truth.” When Mary was asked to describe what kind of kid Brad is to her, she described Brad in a very caring nature almost as if it was her own child or part of her family. Mary told the interviewer about why Brad would say she undressed me and why she took her top off in front of me. Mary said there was one occasion where Brad had peed himself and Mary knew he was being potty trained, so she decided to undress Brad and wash his clothes for him. She then put him in the bath to clean him and then dressed him back up. Mary said this is maybe where Brad came up with these accusations. About Mary taking her top off, Mary claimed there was one time
when she came in from outside and took off her jacket it pulled her sweater off as well, but she said she had an under shirt on as well. After watching the video and analyzing Mary Stanton’s behaviour, I believe she is telling the truth. As said earlier Mary remains calm even though there are some pretty harsh accusations about her doing things to Brad. When asked a question she is mainly straight forward was answering the question and throughout the whole interview she keeps solid eye contact with the interviewer. Mary has an upright posture, she is not slouching down in her chair or fidgeting around with her hands. When asked about anything relating her sexually touching Brad, she is confident and telling the interviewing ways Brad may have mistaken this be inappropriate.
Caren Campano was a 42 year old woman working a decent job, and married to a man 15 years younger than her. Chris, her husband, was a drug addict that did not have steady income. The night she disappeared they had a large argument, and according to Chris, they both left the house in separate directions to cool off. She left on foot, and he left in the truck to a bar. The next morning he called her job asking if she was at work and they said she never showed up. He called and made a missing person’s report. The investigators went to their house and stated the house was in good condition, and did not look like she left. There was no signs of a fight. However, they found a large brown stain that was still wet next to the bed. When they tested it, it was positive for blood, and when they pulled the carpet back, there was an even larger blood stain on the cushioning under the
A horrific murder happened in tiny Skidmore on December of 2004. Lisa Montgomery and Bobbi Jo Stinnett met and found out that they had much in common and became good friends (Nunes 85-86). Surprisingly, Bobbi and Lisa met in an internet chat room. Bobbi was into puppy breeding and she occasionally served as a judge. Lisa lived in Kansas where her close friends were shocked about what she was talking about. Of course, Lisa shrugged it off and she sent an email to Bobbi saying that she wanted to see the puppies (Nunes 85-86). When Lisa met Bobbi Jo she had a fake name which was Darlene Fisher because she didn’t want Bobbi to know her real identity. When Lisa sent Bobbi the email she had a criminal intent on her mind. She was planning to choke Bobbi into unconsciousness and then cut open her womb and steal Bobbi’s unborn baby. When Lisa arrived at the house she threw a rope around Bobbi’s neck and choked her until she was unconscious. That is when Lisa took a knife and started to cut open Bobbi’s stomach. Lisa had to cut through skin, fat, and muscle to get to Bobbi’s uterus. Bobbi’s baby was in eight-month gestation; Lisa cut and tied the baby’s cord. Lisa stole the baby and fled to her house in Kansas. Unfort...

The media is a large part of our everyday lives; everywhere we go we can find a source of media. It influences our thoughts, feelings and behaviours every day as it is a huge influence in today’s society. Society heavily relies on the media to show them what is in the norm and what is going on in the world. The media also serves as another way to display the normative of the society. Sexuality is a big part in the media and what is appropriate sexuality. The media negatively affects the people who do not fit society’s ideal normative. This includes people with a sexuality that is not the normative of heterosexuality. In the media, these people of other sexualities are excluded and made to feel they do not fit into society. My pyramid shows how society classifies people by their sexuality in the media. This involves highlighting the normative sexuality and excluded any other sexuality from the mainstream media.
The issue of pornography has been debated and argued among many about its effects on morality and society. The questions most raised are is pornography moral or immoral and what defines it as such. Also, what makes something be seen as pornographic and therefore immoral. Often when someone brings up the subject of pornography they often envision something dark and seedy which in no way could ever be justified as virtuous. However, there are others who see it’s as being a healthy outlet and without harm to others. When applying the sociological theories of utilitarianism and deontology we can understand the different ideas of pornography. We can also use the perspectives of Emotivism and ethical egoism to make a rational argument about
I am a little late when it comes to reading Confessions of a Video Vixen especially since I read Vindicated first. While reading the reviews of Vindicated, I noticed where a reader explained how Karrine’s story came full circle at the end of Vindicated because she had finally been Vindicated. I was scrolling through the comments section and noticed a reader suggesting that readers pick up Confessions of a Video Vixen to read about how Karrine became a person who thought violence was normal and continued to stay in and return to abusive relationships.
During our past couple psych classes, Dr. Hunter has been giving us different videos to watch that relate to different psychological disorder. This videos helped me to have a better understanding on some of the different disorders and what I person may look like who has one of them. The first video he showed was of a man who was severely manic. The man appeared to be very jittery and he was unable to keep his thoughts straight. He often got mad when the psychiatrist that he was talking to tried to change the subject from what he wanted to talk about. He often explained how God speaks to him and tells him what to do. He was very upbeat and did not fully grasp the concept of why he was seeing a psychiatrist because he believed that there was
In the today’s society, social media has gone out of hand. Most people these days have a cell phone, Ipad and/or laptop and most definitely a television at their home. Therefore, access to pornography has become extremely easy and can be available to any individual in less than 5 minutes. The best definition of pornography can be explained as sexually explicit words or images intended to provoke sexual arousal. The easy access to porn has raised many people to question if porn is harmful, if it should be censored, and if it is unsafe. Many debates have been going on about porn concerning freedom of rights, speech, and entertainment and right of privacy. The main people to have argued on this point are Catherine Mackinnon and philosopher J.S. Mill.
Sexual scripts are concepts developed by John Gagnon and William Simon to explain how members of opposite sexes behave towards each other (Wiederman, 2005). This also includes their response to situations. Sexual scripts act as guidelines in our relationships with the opposite sex. They act as unwritten guidelines on how males and females interact or express their sexuality. For example, at the social level, men are expected to take the active role while women are expected to have a passive role in initiating sex (Grimaldi, 2009).
Looking back at myself, I can easily come out and say that i 'm a lesbian. I’ve never had
Who would of ever thought that I would be writhing a paper on the negative consequences of having to much sex! Never the less its true sex can actually ruin ones life. Sex can become compulsive, Like most behaviors, sex can be taken to its obsessive & compulsive extremes. Sexual obsessions & compulsions are recurrent, distressing & interfere with daily functioning. Many people suffer with these problems but finding consensus about them among sexual scientists or treatment professionals is not easy. This makes it more difficult for those suffering from compulsive sexual behavior (CSB) to get the appropriate help they need. 2There are different types of (CSB) and there are various theoretical viewpoints & treatment approaches. While there are many types of compulsive sexual behavior, they can be divided into two main types: paraphilic & non-paraphilic CSB. Sexual scientists have used various terms to describe this phenomenon: hyper sexuality, erotomania, nymphomania, satyriasis & most recently sexual addiction & compulsive sexual behavior. The terminology has often-implied different values, attitudes & theoretical orientations.4
Pornography is ripping apart our society. Although Christians are sometimes discus tied with the impact and apathetic about the need to control this menace. Pornography is a year business with close ties to organized crime. Pornography involves books, magazines, videos, and devices and has moved from the society into the mainstream through the renting of video cassettes, sales Of so-called "soft-porn" magazines, and the airing of sexually explicit movies on Cable television.
A fundamental step for understanding the links between human nature and intimate relationships is by understanding human sexuality. Alfred Kinsey, in his pioneering study on human sexual behaviour, illustrated the degree to which individuals differ in their sexual attitudes, beliefs and preferences (Kinsey, Pomeroy & Martin, 1948). In particular, a marked difference was highlighted in individuals’ sociosexual attitudes and behaviours. Following this, many of the sociosexual features individuals differ in, including preferred frequency of sexual intercourse, the number of different sexual partners they predict to have in the future, and their willingness to engage in uncommitted relationships, have shown to covary (Eysenk, 1976, as cited in Barnes, Malamuth & Check, 1984). Considered together, these features compose an individual difference dimension named sociosexuality (Snyder, Simpson & Gangestad, 1986). Sociosexuality reflects the tendency to engage in uncommitted, casual sexual encounters (Simpson & Gangestad, 1991). Those with a restricted sociosexual orientation typically prefer closeness and commitment from their romantic partner before engaging in sex (Simpson & Gangestad, 1991). Such individuals claim they rarely have one-night stands, and require emotional intimacy within a romantic relationship before feeling comfortable with sex (Simpson & Gangestad, 1991). Conversely, unrestricted individuals require little or no emotional bond with a partner in order to have sex. These individuals are more likely to be involved in extra-marital relationships (Seal, Agostinelli & Hannett, 1994), and exhibit more frequent displays of sexual assertiveness such as flirting (Simpson, Gangestad & Nations, 1996).
In today’s society typically there are standards help for one sex that their respective counterparts do not have to uphold. Why is it deemed okay for males to have sexual intercourse with multiple people and be permissible but there’s a stigma attached to females who do the same thing? On the contrary, why is it when a female hits a male he is supposed to be able to handle it but when a male hits a female it turns into abuse?
