The Extinction of Dinosaurs In the essay “Sex, Drugs, Disasters, and the Extinction of Dinosaurs” scientists come up with several theories of how the dinosaurs could have possibly become extinct. They tell three of the leading theories as to how they think the dinosaur era extinction happens. The whole thing is a big conspiracy. These theories are government cover-ups to keep us from knowing things. The government knows things that they don’t want us to know, but I already know what happened. I know that it was really the aliens attempting to destroy our planet. The aliens continued to move toward the end of our colonization. When they were done using our planet, they would destroy it to keep others from going there and discovering what the aliens had learned from our planet. That was just typical government behavior though. There are numerous times in history where humans did the same kinds of things. The aliens came back one last time to collect their things from the planet and leave. They took many of the dinosaurs with them along with all kinds of crops. When they got out to space, they fired on Earth with a shot that should have destroyed the planet. Upon impact of the shot, a huge percentage of the wildlife on that side of Earth instantly died while the remaining life was dying from suffocation or lack of sunlight. The shot hit the mainland so hard that the shock waves stirred the water and caused Tsunamis to travel all around the planet, finishing off the remaining wildlife aside from a few of the hardier species and the aquatic life. The shot agitated the tectonic plates, causing earthquakes everywhere and causing the land to break apart and split up into chunks that were carried by the tsunamis. Fossil records from 12,000 years ago show the appearance of the Large Mammals followed by Paleoindian in Eastern North America. Another piece of the fossil record shows that the appearance of Paleoindian brought about the disappearance of the large mammals. Some people feel that, "there is evidence to suggest that rapacious hunting practice of the paleohunters in North and South America 12,000 years ago may have caused…The demise of the very animals they hunted" (Powell 1987). The evidence Powell suggests is that the extinction of a large mammal is usually followed by the appearance of humans in the fossil record. This coincidence is not only seen in the fossil records of North and South America but Europe and Asia as well. Powell shows that as human populations increased local extinctions of large mammals occurred. This was probably due to the fact that there were not many predators that could hunt the large mammals except man. For this reason it is also highly like likely that man and large mammals did not co-evolve which ultimately resulted in the extinction of large mammals.

Humans are destructive. Not a lot of us think about how what we do affects the world around us. We almost act like we are the only ones on this planet. We go around polluting and destroying our world with no regard for our actions. The things that live out in the wild are paying the price for it. Every day that passes there is another animal or plant that is placed on an endangered list. This is happening at an alarming rate. Because of man’s desire to expand and conquer their surroundings, there are animals and plants that are on the brink of extinction that will not be around for our kids and future generations to enjoy if something is not done about it now. This problem has been going on for hundreds of years. There are animals and plants that can only been seen in paintings or early photography. It is because of our early ancestors that we have this problem today and we have to do more to prevent more animals and plants from disappearing forever.
Earth has gone through five fully major extinctions before. We currently are in the process of Earth’s sixth mass extinction. This mass extinction is closely related in severity to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Earth’s extinctions are broken into three different areas. The first area was the large number of animals caught by hunter-gathers. The discovery of agriculture led to the second area of extinction, wildlife habitats.
