Setting Realistic Resolutions/Goals for the New Year
As the New Year approaches, many of us are starting to list down all of our resolutions. The start of the new year is the perfect time to clean the slate and start afresh. This is great opportunity to eradicate the bad habits and form new routines that will help you grow into a much better person. Mental preparation is needed since you’re actually taking a process of change that can affect you psychologically, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Always remember that all positive changes can improve your everyday life. Resolutions are much easier to make than to keep. Some last until end of January and then settling back to their old patterns. Here are some steps that will help you to stick with your goals and paving your way to success:
Choose a specific, realistic goal
When you are setting goals, make sure that they are within your reach. Always be mindful of several factors that can affect you from achieving your goals such as schedules, personal affairs, and finances. It’s better to set realistic goals, s...
People need to think intelligently and set goals that are specific to their needs, making it possible to achieve their goals by making sure they are measurable and realistic and making it possible to build a support system around them; furthermore, they also need to set a deadline with time frames that can be met. Chanika Charles stated that “young people are at risk of being gobbled up by despair, overcome by conditions beyond their control” (A17). To avoid this, people need to start motivating themselves and getting excited about what they want to achieve, making sure their goals are relevant to their needs and being more perseverance when situations become difficult. When setting up their goals, they must ask that magic question: is this relevant to my lifestyle, furthermore, what will I do to achieve it?
... everything, and write down important events. Also from personal experience DO NOT procrastinates. Be interdependent rather than rely on just you or everyone else find a balance between the two. I think the most important thing to do is believe in you. You cannot reach your goals without this key factor. Also use a calendar, next actions list and tracking form. These help so much I know from personal experience throughout this year. This cuts down on stress and helps you keep organized and on track to the goals you have.
By using the S.M.A.R.T. goal system, you are able to make your dreams a reality, one small step at a time. The first step in reaching a long-term goal is to understand the S.M.A.R.T. the goal process. Simply using the words specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound can be a bit confusing. After a bit of research, I was able to better define the method. Using a S.M.A.R.T. Goal worksheet provided by Tatt (2012).
After reading about these examples, one can probably imagine that some things, such as relationships with family and friends are too much to risk just to reach a goal. However, some things need to be risked if one actually intends to achieve their goal. When asked about his Olympic medal, Olympic marathoner Meb Keflezghi replied, "They ask, 'How did you get it?'" my response: "A lot of hard work." (Butler 1) So, when trying to reach your goals, look at the big picture, and ask yourself, “Is it worth it?” If the answer is no, then take some time to prioritize.
Nearly all the 5 resolution I chose were mainly about the rest of my high school years. Why? Well because that’s when, in my opinion, more opportunities are given to you. Let me start with the resolution that comes the earliest.
Resolutions are usually negative and point out something wrong with us. Us girls are continuously guilty of the 'lose weight' resolution, am I right? Resolutions are a firm action with no room to move which often lead to failure. Intentions are a positive guide with room to move as our circumstances change. Intentions are a commitment to align ourselves to a particular action. Setting intentions rather than resolutions enables our mind set to do what we want to do, not what we think we should do. This year I am setting an intention so that I will not fail resolutions and beat myself up about it, like I have again, and again.
Goal setting is key in motivation; goals need to be clear, sharp, and realistic. To make these feel more achievable it is better to break these down into smaller medium-term goals and medium-term goals into short-term goals so that you have a clear connection between what one does every day and their long-term goals.
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.
Everyday we make decisions that will affect us in long term, but we may not always realize it. It might be the fast food we buy, or that extra hour of hanging out with your friends. Maybe the decision to not finish that assignment that is due tomorrow because sleep is more important. Setting your priorities straight is a tough task, but can be accomplished if you can be disciplined. As the new year takes off my goal is to change the outcome of those long term choices by staying disciplined.
so you need to take it step by step as you move closer and closer to reaching them. “Goal setting is a
A person needs to achieve certain goals in one's life before you can call them successful. Success is to achieve goals, you have set. I have set certain goals I would like to achieve in my lifetime. Some of these goals are personal while others are professional. My professional goals in life are to find a good job that makes me happy, get a good education, find a job that makes enough money for me to support my family, and help people. Goals it is very important for me to receive a good education. Most job fields require a descent education. If I don't have an education I would not be able to function properly at the work place and I would not understand what to do. To maintain a good job that will make good money will require me to go thorough schooling or training and maybe even both. Education is the first and foremost way to become successful, because the job I will choose will need me go to school and maybe even beyond college. My happiness in what I do is also a goal for me I my life. There is no way someone can become successful if they are not happy with what they are doing. ...
Everyone makes or has made a new year's resolution in there life before. And not all have kept them but to those who have GOOD JOB! Because it's not easy to keep them well not for everyone that is. For example a student at a school might want to help their mother or father around the house more. Or maybe someone might want to help their friends and family more which is also a great resolution.
If you are planning on making New Year's Resolutions this year, you can try a new approach to your great ideas. You can create a plan which emphasizes desire, energy, and strategy - and includes plenty of reality checks.
As you may know New Year’s Resolutions are goals that you desire to come true with lots of work and effort. A New Year's resolution is basically a commitment that a person makes to one or more personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit. People committing themselves to a New Year's resolution generally plan to do so for the whole following year. This lifestyle change is generally interpreted as advantageous. I am hoping my resolutions come true and help me understand life more as it keeps going. My resolutions have to again deal with scholarly, than community, and lastly personal resolutions.
Once you set your goal, you need to start getting more specific. It moves from a dream into reality. Make a plan, it must move from your mind to a piece of paper. Write down the things that you need to do. What do you want to achieve? What will be your life when you achieve your goal? Things that you need to be done. Things that you want to learn more about your goal. Qualities that you admire in others. Improves the qualities you have. Habits that you want to stop and habits that you want to improve.
