Introduction
Service is the desire to give myself to others in the expression of the God given fruit of Jesus. A desire to help, care, and share the love of God with others by seeing each individual as important and worthy of love. Jesus the Son of Man came to serve not be served and to give His life as a ransom for many (Matt 20:28). Jesus gave for the protection and nurture of others.
Summarise your original understanding of the discipline before the course started
My understanding of the Spiritual Discipline of Service was to attend church weekly contributing as a member of the One Body in Christ. I would share this by welcoming guests, collecting the tithes and offerings, counting the members and the money, preparing of communion elements, general cleaning and being

I know that he was wrong. I have persisted in my faith walk and serve the fellowship by continuing to respect leadership and the cause of the church by remaining teachable (Bible College, being mentored, following leaders requests and instructions) to the best of my ability. My heart is to build the Kingdom of God by sharing, caring, giving and receiving, being and doing, learning and teaching about God.
A group experience
In 2006 my wife and I went on a mission trip to Kenya with 13 other church members with the plan to build a sister church. Upon arrival at the hotel we were asked for safety purposes not to leave because a tribal war had broken out. We chose to leave the hotel to complete our mission plus purchase food and clothing which were distributed to the refugees and the poor. We visited orphanages, assisted in setting up a financial loan system and a food bank. We did all this knowing our lives were at risk but we did this as a way of serving God.

I feel that the importance of service is to help a person in need because you could change someone's life, not because you feel that you need to. People who love what they are doing are the people who effect everything around them.Service has impacted my life because it makes me a better person. My family feels the impact, the community feels the impact, even servicing for a few hours a week affects the people around you. It makes the community a better place to live.
I equate service with helpfulness—assisting others. I help both my school community by answering questions and giving feedback and my community as a whole through my volunteer activities, the most enjoyable of which has been Habitat for Humanity.
I serve to Jesus every day by taking time out my day to help others. When my classmates or friends are struggling with something I try to assist them
Remen points out that “helping” a community makes the indebted to the helpers, while serving one requires engaging in the unity with the community, creating a common ground. She also focuses on the assumptions implied by certain words, for example, for one to fix a problem or community implies that it was, before your assistance, broken or lacking. I agree that it is important to be conscientious of words choice and understand the disconnect that sometimes happens between intentionality and reality. However, I had a difficult time grappling with Remen’s preference for the word “service” which I feel implies the one serving is inferior, which doesn’t so much fix the initial dichotomy but simply reverses the roles. Furthermore I felt that her definition and emphasis on service had religious overtones that made me uncomfortable with what she was presenting and made it more difficult for me to relate to and digest her
Over the course of this class I feel like I have become a much better writer. When I go back and look at some of my Journal entries and assignments that I did at the beginning of the semester, I can’t help but tense up at some of the things I wrote. Sometimes the things I was writing didn’t flow well, or I might have even have missed glaring grammar mistakes.
The service pillar is the dedication to benefiting others without the desire of recognition. As a Peer Leader, I am committed to serving the community. For example, I spread positivity through variety of school activities, and I organized a very successful Thanksgiving

This course has taught me a lot about the role human service workers have in communities and what communities need from human services. I learned about why this type of work is so important and was able to seen that importance first hand through my observation hours at the Dorothy Day Center.
into a richer experience of worship and a more effect life of service" (Crabb, 1977, p.31). The method to establishing an
If we open our lives and give service to those less fortunate than ourselves, we allow our hearts to receive immeasurable happiness. When we sacrifice our time to help someone in need, whether it is a great or small need, we become a part of their life and can help alleviate heavy burdens. Making time to help people in need creates opportunities for us to develop new and lasting relationships. Serving our fellowmen allows the best in each of us to shine through and we can become examples to our children.
According to (Lennan, 2008) service delivery is the provision of public goods or social , economic or infrastructural services to those who need them .The Education and Training Unit (2009 internet source) defines this as the supply or ability to provide basic services to the public and these have a “direct and immediate” consequence and impact on the...
I was afraid, but I continued to pray and asked God for directions. Fay states, “God has called each of us to share our faith, in obedience. He has called each of us to evangelize. If one of your excuses for not sharing your faith is, “I don’t have the gift of evangelism,” then you need to examine Scripture. You find the command of the Great Commission to evangelize, to encourage evangelism, and to urge evangelism.” I really enjoyed spreading the gospel because it gives me joy. I am willing to meet the needs of people when given the opportunity. I love God and I love people. I am willing to go where God wants me to
I am a customer service representative at a health company funded by the state. I hear a lot and a lot is expected from me. My job description consists of talking to members over the phone. I explain about their benefits, services that we offer, obtain personal information, I verify authorization, look for provider and etc. With being the first point of contact I try hard to deliver the best customer service that I possibly can; so that I can show that I really cares about the members. The three core values that help me work with my customers are respect, honesty, determination, these three values has shaped me into the young lady that I am today, but most importantly they help me provide great customer services.
