To volunteer means too, “freely offer to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task”. Anybody with spare time should offer their time to a business needing help. A citizen can offer their volunteer services at an animal shelter, a library, a habitat for humanity, a national park, or many others. The project that i participated in allowed me to help the community as well as gain knowledge for the degree i am pursuing, all while letting me learn about the government's relationship to the activity i participated in. I have a huge spot in my heart for the love of animals, so being able to interact with all types of animals at Snake Farm made the love expand. Many people hope to one day become a veterinarian, a zookeeper, a animal trainer, or have any career working with animals. I do not have any type of degree or experience, but was lucky enough to get the opportunity to get behind the scenes of a zoo and see how things work. While employed at Snake Farm and Animal World Zoo, i only saw small amounts of animal caretaking since i was in a different part of the building on a cash register. I always knew about everything the keepers do, but was never able to go into an animal enclosure and care for them. The zoo, the animals inside, and the employees have always been considered family to me and apart of my life. I am always visiting the zoo, whenever i have spare time. I will definitely stay active in volunteering at this zoo, and i will be pursing my career similar to my volunteer service in the future. Eight hours of service learning, or volunteering may seem like a short amount of time, but when you step foot in a zookeepers shoes, eight hours means a lot of work will be completed. I saw and did a lot in those eight hours, and i have never worked so hard
