Response Summary by Kylie Bell When I first heard that I was getting the opportunity to write a Serial Killer of my choice a letter and try to get a response I knew exactly who to write to. Gary Ridgway also known as the Green River Killer is one of the many famous killers I have read about that have a lot to do with me falling in love with Criminal Justice and trying to understand how the mind of a Serial Killer works. The Green River Killer fascinates me so much because he went 20 years without being captured and to people who knew him when he was growing up said he did not have a threatening personality at all. I stayed on the safe side and told him I was a college student studying criminal justice. I told him that I was interested in his case and that is why I was into criminal justice. Then I told him I wanted to hear his side and be a friend. I really thought that might have appealed to him but I was wrong because I have not received a response. Maybe I should have given more details or asked questions I feel either way I may still not have received a response. There could be dozens of reasons why he did not respond. It could be because he thought I was a crazy fan or someone just writing to him to get information on him for something stupid like for the paper or for the police, or he just does not want to be the center of attention and wants to keep the outside world out. If he had written back I feel he may write that he does not want a friend or to tell his side. He would like to be left alone so he may do his time peacefully, he may not have anything to really say to someone who is studying people like him. When we asked in class why do men do the things they do I really thought about why he did these things. Its not because he had a mental illness and its not because his mother was absent as a child.
