TWO POTENTIAL PROBLEM One potential problem that I have encounter in my career is having a seniority list. Since, my main focus and current goals is advancement within the company. It will be very challenging to accomplish. Being a part of a union in tells seniority and since people with a higher seniority comes first, I see it taking me longer than I planned to accomplish my career goals. It is very frustrating to know no matter how hard I work and how much care I put into my work advancement may not happen. Because of this seniority list I am always hoping that someone with higher seniority then me will quit or move on to another position within the company. Therefore, will allow me to move up on the seniority list. The seniority list is an issue that I believe is argumentative because others may feel that having a seniority list gives everyone an equal chance to advance in their careers. Consequently, the seniority list is not based on educational degrees or experience. The effects of the seniority list allow people to know that they have first pick of upcoming career moves, or that they are first in …show more content…
My procrastination had me wanting to give up on online learning and my educational goals. Once I started to think about the opposing side. I started to remember why I wanted to attend an online learning in the first place and what motivated me to make that final decision to attend an online learning college. This topic is persuasive because it ended up persuading me to continue my online learning education. Thinking about this topic encouraged me to not give up even when things get difficult. If there is no challenge, is it really worth doing? By me thinking of all the reasons why I want to continue my education online and why online learning is a great opportunity for me allowed me to motivate myself to put all that I am into all of my assignments and to not let my thoughts trick me up to
Response: There are minimal opportunities for advancement as departments are small and only consist of a few employees per department. Normally someone would have to leave the company in order to move up th...
Being proud of something can have many different meanings to people, but to me, it means to be honored and to be glad that something happened. I am proud about many things in my life but one thing I am extremely proud of is my induction into the NJHS. NJHS stands for National Junior Honor Society.

Senioritis: Real Disease Or Just An Excuse? Senioritis is defined by the “sickness” of high school seniors. It has the biggest impact on students during the second semester of senior year and it is characterized by the lack of motivation to stay engaged. Many of the soon-to-be graduates tend to slack off by the end of the school year.
HR and talent management professionals who take the time to educate employees on generational issues will improve intergenerational understanding, multi-generational inclusiveness, respect, and productivity.
Davis and Moore’s model of stratification includes rewarding people when they accomplished bigger challenges. In order for the person to perform a task they need to feel motivated. This includes not only family motivation but the resources that they have making the process smoother. For example, a medical doctor will not waste 22 years of his life in school if in the end they make the same as a janitor (lectures) In order to succeed, there needs to be a big reward waiting in the end as part of the motivation to reach their goal. These rewards includes money, prestige and power (lectures) People will feel motivation knowing it will pay off, such as making them icons and great examples for the rest of the society. To guarantee that those positions get fulfilled, these rewards must be handed out.
Some college students a lot of times procrastinate because they have a fear of failing (Webber). College students sense that they never have any room to mess up and bounce back again to cover up for the failure that has been taken place. The fear of failing can only hold college students back if they allow it to. No college student wants t...
“Motivation is the process whereby goal-orientated activity is instigated and sustained” (Schunk, Pintrich & Meece, 2008. As cited in Eggen & Kauchak, 2010, p.284). Motivation comes in many forms and can be divided into two broad categories - extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivators are external factors which can motivate a student; rewards are an example of this. An issue with extrinsic motivators is that the desire for the learner to participate often lessens, once the rewards are withdrawn (McCullers, 1987). On the other hand intrinsic motivation comes from within - learning for the joy of it - where the desire to learn leads to a higher level of knowledge, and is a reward in itself. Kohn (1996, p.285) states that research suggests, “Rewards actually decrease interest in intrinsically motivating tasks, therefore sending the wrong message about learning” (as cited in Eggen & Kauchak, 2010a)
The social hierarchy is important and members of the society are expected to conform. One way is showing respect for one’s elders, for example, the oldest member of a group is served first and their drinks are poured for them (AngloINFO, 2014). This mentality is common in the business world as well. Promotions are usually based on seniority and people often work at one company their entire lives. This way of life brings satisfaction and pride to the people (Aliasis, 2013).
Being motivated is not just about a good end result, but it is about acquiring an ingrained mindset that empowers and directs one’s behavior. (Tan, OS, Parsons, R. D., Hinson, S. L., & Sardo-Brown, D., 2011) Mary Doe can clearly be seen to be unmotivated in learning as seen from her low expectations of success. She is seen to have a low gauge of her ability, which leads to her low confidence, and lowered motivation towards her academics. We will explore the possible causes, as well as solutions to aid the improvement of her motivation in learning.

Promotions in bureaucracies are granted when an employee does a good job with the job they are given. Just because a person can perform one job well, does not mean that they are competent enough to handle the next step. Just because someone can pack a box, it does not mean they know what they are putting in it, much less why. This is bureaucratic incompetence and there is no limit to the consequences of this, making it a disadvantage to the survival of the bureaucracy.
“Motivation is a complex part of human psychology and behavior that influences how individuals choose to invest their time, how much energy they exert in any given task, how they think and feel about the task, and how long they persist at the task” (Urdan & Schoenfelder, 2006). The biggest question educators face in today’s classroom is what motivates a student to do something and why? Virtually all students are motivated in one way or another. Research of student motivation suggests a theory that emphasizes a social-cognitive perspective. The cognition of students regarding academic work are influenced by social factors, such as messages from the teacher about the difficulty of the task, the perceived abilities of classmates, and the information about the importance of learning the material (Urdan & Schoenfelder, 2006). In this paper the focus will primarily be on those elements within the classroom that influence student motivation and engagement.
Being motivated is an important to being successful in studying. Cottrell (2003) suggests that, you would need to have a high level of motivation to help you stay focused and find ways to help you through any problems that may occur during studying. For instance, I will be using many steps to help me implement this skill into my studies. Sometimes you will just have to use the mind frame of just do it to motivate or you may need to create a strategy to help you. A strategy that I will use to help increase my motivation is by rewarding myself for studying, for example, once I have finished the required goals for my day I can go watch an episode of my favourite show. Another strategy to help me with my studies would be to create a motivational poster. This would be a poster placed in my study area that includes positive words, quotes and pictures that will help motivate me to be successful. Finally, reminding myself of the long term goal and what I want to achieve will help with my motivation. Whenever I experience the difficulty of sitting down to study I will follow these suggestions and they will help motivate me to keep going with what I have to
One of the three most appropriate On Course success strategies that will be best of use to achieve success for me in years to come is discover self-motivation. Defined by Downing as, “finding purpose in their lives by discovering personally meaningful goals and dreams” (296). Being able to use this strategy will be the key to my future success. Having motivation to do all the work given to me from my classes will keep me at a good grade. Passing my classes is what I need to do to reach my goal. I cannot do this without the fuel given to me by my motivation to finish to hard work and reach my destiny. Without my motivation there will be no desire to finish and accomplish what is really important and meaningful in life, and that is not what I want. A good example I keep in my mind to never repeat is senior year and the lack of motivation I had to finish up my last year. I ended with two C’s and that is very disappointing for me. Keeping this in mind will allow me to not lose motivation and keep thinking of the positive outcome because motivation is everything! Good concept to remembering motivation quoted by Downing, “…one formula explains much a...
