The assignment that the Nursing 100 class is asked to do is about different self-assessments to teach the students how they study and what ways they learn best. The two assessments that will be discussed and analyzed in this assignment will be a Learning Style Assessment and a Notetaking, Reading, and Study Habits Assessment. These two assessments teach students just how well they are studying, taking notes, etc. as well as what ways they could potentially learn better through out their college career as well as bring that learning factor into the rest of their lives. According to the Learning Style Handout, my visual learning score was 12, my auditory score was 12, and my kinesthetic score was 13. This just means that my learning style
The role of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) in health care has been identified as a critical role in the goal to provide high-quality health care. APRNs have a bigger role to play in the health care system and it is important that students are provided with relevant and valuable knowledge as well as experience that improve their abilities. Achieving course objectives are critical for APRNs with the goal of contributing positively to the health care system. As a future APRN, I place high priority on life-long learning and the development of other people’s skill sets. All duties associated with health care require a dedication to excellence and selflessness. These are two components of learning that will improve the capabilities of

The impact of this class, Nursing 654, will influence my practice as a CRNA because it will provide me with the understanding of the evolution of nursing, which includes where nursing was in the past and where it is now. This enable me to predict where nursing will be in the future and what we need to change now to evolve and improve our different practices (especially the DNP). This class will also guide me in understanding the influence philosophy have on people and how it may affect their view on reality. This makes it easy for me to understand how my patient may act and why they act that
This piece of work will be based on the pre-assessment process that patients go through on arrival to an endoscopy unit in which I was placed in during my second year studying Adult diploma Nursing. I will explore one patient’s holistic needs, identifying the priorities of care that the patient requires; I will then highlight a particular priority and give a rational behind this. During an admission I completed under the supervision of my mentor I was pre-assessing a 37 year old lady who had arrived to the unit for an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. During the pre-assessment it was important that a holistic assessment is performed as every patient is an individual with unique care needs as the patient outline in this piece of work has learning disabilities it was imperative to identify any barriers with communication (Nursing standards 2006).
As such, I want students to realize the level of knowledge and competence they have when they are reviewing the patient database. I appraise the enthusiasm of these nursing students as they strive for professional competence. It is my goal to help them synthesize theoretical knowledge and apply it in the clinical setting. My ambition is to empower novice-nursing students to apply textbook skills to real patients. What motivates me to teach, and to teach well, is the desired output, “A competent nurse”. Nursing has opened many doors for me in all three domains: practice, research, and education. As I plan a career in nursing scholarship, I acknowledge that I have much to learn about teaching. Wherever this path leads me, my goal is to write
Developing confidence, and competence is a challenge faced by novice nurses (Morrell & Ridgway, 2014). Over the course of my nursing degree developing, and maintaining confidence in my clinical practice has always been a personal challenge. During my preceptorship placement, I have the opportunity to continue to cultivate my confidence, and prepare to begin my practice as an independent graduate nurse. In the reflection, I will discuss how I have gradually become a confident practitioner through my experiences in my clinical placement, and especially those in my preceptorship placement.
In the video, “Test-Taking Strategies for Student Success”, there were many tactics that I found helpful in creating my plan. One of the first strategies mentioned was critically thinking about the information, rather than just memorizing. Memorizing information will not help me learn, especially in this field. I must understand the material and know how to apply it to different situations. The video also mentioned not reading into exam questions and instead taking them at face value. I have a tendency to think too much into questions, out of fear that it is a trick and that I might get the answer wrong. By reading through the question word for word, I will understand what exactly the question is asking of me and choose the appropriate answer. Also mentioned were questions regarding priority. Safety and the ABC’s (airway, breathing, circulation) are always very important. Questions regarding the nursing process can be tricky, because although it may be a question about the assessment, an answer choice may describe evaluation (Lynn). These tips come in handy when answering practice questions and will be beneficial during my exams. Most importantly, I must think like a nurse to answer these questions. I will eventually be practicing these skills in the field, and in order to make the right decisions, I need to use critical thinking and apply the knowledge that I’ve
Being a nursing student help me learn and understand each and every individual physically and emotionally. Though, being a nurse is not my choice but being here for these past few years help me accept the path that I am taking to. Before I entered college I have definite course to take so I let my parents decide on what course I am going to take. And of course an only child and being a good daughter I was I accepted it. Because it is not what I truly want and desire it is really hard for me. Remembering those times during my 1st year when there are many theorist and theory we need to know and to think that I’m not good at remembering names of people whom I just met in daily lives, then during our anatomy where in you

For Nursing 401 class, I chose the comprehensive health assessment assignment because nurses do patients’ assessment everyday throughout the shift. For this reason, it is very important to master the nursing health assessment of all body system in addition to cultural and spiritual assessment to be able to provide an adequate care for the patients and families.
When I really think about what has influenced who I am today and how I view the world around me, I think about my mother. My mother played a huge part in my childhood and raised me to be both open minded and self aware. She’s able to do almost everything from changing the tires on the car to building a table to sewing up clothes and and cooking full course meals. From her, I learned just about everything I know. I grew up to be very independent and capable of doing things on my own, which I am extremely grateful for. The main reason why I am going to college now is also because of my mother. However, I wouldn’t exactly say I’m following in her footsteps as our career choices are extremely different from each others. She went to cosmetology school and I’m studying to become a registered nurse.
Being able to self assess our health give us the opportunity to change our life style and change the quality of our life style.
Medical science came from a long way in helping patients to live longer. Today it is still not possible to prevent all of the sufferings that people experiencing in the world. But it is possible to help people to remain healthy and restore good health. This purpose is one of the main parts ofa nursing career. Any nursing student who wants to become a nurse has to learn all nursing requirements. But this first semester, the course “introduction to nursing school” helps me to learn many important things in nursing school and also nursing career, for example:
Week twelve focused on test taking. In order to test well in nursing classes, there are four areas you need to master to be able to answer questions. Those four areas being knowledge, comprehension, application, and analysis. Each part builds on one another with knowledge coming first and analysis coming last. Most of our exams ask critical thinking questions at the application and analysis levels. What I took away from that tutorial is that, having the knowledge and understanding on topics going into an exam, will allow you to apply what you know. If you don’t know the first step- knowledge, answering critical thinking questions will be difficult. In another tutorial it talked about priority questions and how to answer them. In those types
Critical theory is necessary for nursing education. Swartz, M. K. (2014) propose practice-based nursing education. Plus, Lisko, S. A., & O 'Dell, V. (2010) proposed that Kolb’s experiential learning theory and model. They affirmed the importance of critical theory because it offers a structure for nursing practice based on nursing education. According to Swartz, M. K. (2014), academic nursing practice has become an essential component of faculty role expectancy, practice nursing programs. However, academic nursing practice as a concept and organization structure has not been fully applied across school of nursing. The goals of academic nursing practice are to enrich the teaching of students (Swartz, M. K., 2014). Developing the practice setting through the utilization for research, generalizing knowledge and learning and eventually improving the quality of patient care. This increasing knowledge base on critical theories that lead to an understanding about patient problems and using manage nursing practice. Swartz, M. K. (2014) noted that there are two phases of nursing practice, the thinking phase and the doing phase. The doing phase is heavily regulated by specified in the training situation (Swartz, M. K., 2014). Several other assumptions of critical theory hold significance for nursing care as it educated and trained in academic health care centers. In these sites, theory is interwoven with the training and human interactions within a larger social context. Similar to critical theory, nursing includes a general assessment of social, politic, technologic, and economic conditions as they affect the health of an individual, a family or community. Furthermore, nurses need fully to understand the types and care practices and the linkages between theories and the clinical. Lisko, S. A., & O 'Dell, V. (2010) proposed that Kolb’s experiential learning theory and model. The experiential learning
