Malls in Dubai are faced with security issues as they are one of the most visited malls in the world and every year more than 13.2 million tourists visit these malls. Besides tourists, local residents and residents of nearby emirates (Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, etc) visit these malls on a daily basis. The majority of the crowd is attracted to Dubai Mall which is the largest shopping mall in the world with many attractions for visitors, such as the aquarium, the dancing fountains, the waterfall and the retail and food outlets they have. Other famous malls are Mall of The Emirates, Ibn Batuta Mall, City Center Mall and Burjuman Mall. All malls are faced with problems but with Dubai being a central hub for tourists, it is very important for the malls to take the appropriate measures to keep them safe and secure for their visitors as if they don’t, they will lose on very high amounts of revenue. Shoplifting is the most common crime in the world and even in Dubai. People go to the mall and pick something up, put it in their pocket/bag and walk out of the store without paying for it. The items maybe expensive jewellery or even a chocolate bar/chewing gum. Pick pocketing is …show more content…
The guard tried to get a female employee at Ibn Battuta Mall to use one of the male toilets and then touched her inappropriately, the court heard. The victim, a 27-year-old saleswoman, said she went with a friend to the toilets at about 12 midnight on March 8. “When we got there we discovered it was locked, so we walked towards a security guard to help us,” said the woman, who is from Myanmar. She said the man, A S, 30, used a key to open the door but it did not work. The guard then asked her to follow him to a toilet for men. “I refused to use that toilet,” she said. The woman then was about to walk away when she felt his hand touching her from behind. “He squeezed and I got mad and asked him to get away from me,” she
Shoplifting is a plague that is sweeping this nation. Because shoplifting has become such a problem, stores are forced to raise prices to make up for lost sales. This is not their fault, however, few people put the blame where it belongs. The thieves that plague our economy are to blame and the stores have every right to try to stop these people at all costs.
At 5:00 a.m. on September 29, 1987, an unknown intruder broke into a 15-year-old girl’s bedroom. He began to assault her until the mother of the girl discovered the intruder on top of her. The man then fled.
Personally, I believe that the overwhelming number of historical cases of theft conducted by the poor can be attributed to a whole host of potential motivations. Firstly, the motivation to survive, many of those who were distinguishable as impoverished were often unable to live subsistent. Nevertheless theft was perceived and punishable in a very serious manner. However, the economic climate of the 18th and 19th century was begin to boom as a result of industrialization. The overwhelming pressure to cater to the emerging notion of consumerism promoted further potential for crime to arise, because the poor would often engage in pickpocketing or begging, whereas women often engaged in shoplifting to acquire goods for her family to outwardly
Calle Hales went on date with a man she did not identify. Between there first and second date, he would text her, asking specifics about what she does at the Women’s Clinic she works at. On the second date, Calle knew something was different with him. Later that evening, her date raped her in her car. He wrapped the seatbelt around her neck, and bit her. He said things like, “you deserve this,” and “you should have expected this.” He called her a murder.
First, the crime rate is greater in impoverished areas. To the average american family, it seems like a bad act to steal because they have all of the necessary goods. However, in the eyes of an impoverished person, when his or her family needs essentials like food but does not have the money for it, that someone will go to great extremes to provide for his or her family. One article says that an impoverished 15 year old kid is likely to participate in violence (Rehorn). For the poor, stealing can be the only way that the person gets essentials. Also since money is so valuable, there could be fights and violence over anything that can help impoverished people make money.
Goss argues that developers and designers of the built environment, specifically shopping centers and malls, use the power of place and understanding the structural layout of the space to boost consumption of the retail profits. Shopping centers are separated from the downtown area of shopping either by distance and/or design. These establishments emerge for many to be the new heart and location for public and social life. In his article The "Magic of the Mall": An Analysis of Form, Function, and Meaning in the Contemporary Retail Built Environment, Goss also argues that the regulation of the spaces within the mall creates an atmosphere of "community" rather than one that is "public".
Shoplifting is a very big problem in America. Shoplifting affects more than the offender. It overburdens the police and the courts, adds to a store's security expenses, costs consumers more for goods, costs communities lost dollars in sales taxes and hurts children and families. Not all shoplifters are the same, there are two distinct types. There are also many ways to help prevent shoplifting.
Shoplifting is a major problem in today. The temptation of not paying for something, just hiding it away and saving your own money is a large factor for some people. The culprit just thinks he's getting a product for free and doesn't know what he's actually doing to himself and the community. Shoplifting effects everyone, yourself and the everyone in the local neighborhood. In this essay I'm going to explain some of the circumstances of stealing from local stores, or any store. After I've been caught stealing I found out how wrong it is and how it is a disadvantage to everyone.
... middle of paper ... ... One person declared that he saw the boy rape in the face of the father. 40-year-old man saw as three officers of security service force the child.”
As the UAE is made up of 7 Emirates so each of them have their own governmental organisations which allows for the smooth running of their economy.Dubai occupies the vice presidency, second after Abu Dhabi which has its own law so its also a primal location. It is politically safe with low crime rate.
The design of the Mall of America is genius because it is four floors with more than 500 stores also the designers where smart by having natural light enter the Mall this to me makes it feel more homie. The mall was also smart on the how people can park they have four ramps which has five floors which means that it will be easier for the customers to access their building. The Mall of America was also smart on putting an amusement park in their sate of the art mall, this is a big because kid will want to go ride on the roller costars and when the kids see Lego City they will beg their portents to buy them some Legos. The Mall was also smart by putting an aquarium in the Mall which was another attraction that gets peoples attraction to come and visit the mall, another way the mall gets people to come to the Mall is the Movie Theater that is on the top floor of the Mall. Another reason why I think that people keep coming back to the Mall of America is because you can get everything you want in one shot without leaving to go to multiply stores, people could really spend a whole day at the Mall of America because they have a food court and they also have a nice sit-down dinning which is nice. The Mall of America also is more than just a shopping mall, this mall offers work out session because the mall is 1.15 miles so people will just walk around the mall for their daily workout. The Mall of America also has church serves
They provide a safe environment for shoppers as they have friendly and visible security. Many customers, who demand safety, feel secure and at ease whilst doing their shopping.
...ties in the world. It is home to the world's tallest building and to the world's largest mall. Unfortunately, Dubai did not get there without consequence. That consequence is the debt burden that they are currently under. As a result of Dubai's insatiable spending they piled up an exorbitant amount of debt and are still paying it off. The outcome of Dubai's debt race could spell the future for many other emerging countries. If Dubai, who at first looked so perfect, is overcome by debt, investors will be less likely to take a risk by investing in a developing country and will instead keep their money where it is safe. But in the end, if Dubai continues to spend it's money instead of paying back its debt there could be severer implications in the future such as a loss of international interest and it could even revert back to the desolate desert it used to be.
When a person goes shopping and may take a trip to the mall they may feel like they are having a good time on the inside because there are typically nice big ceilings and nice clean stores with new things all over and not to mention the massage...
Malls are convenient places to shop. They provide shoppers with abundant and secure parking areas. Shoppers need not drive around for fifteen minutes looking for a parking place, nor need they be afraid to walk to their cars after they have completed their shopping. Malls are usually totally indoors so people are comfortable why they shop. They do not they do not have to be subject to the elements as they go from store to store. Finally, the most convenient aspect of the mall is its one stop shopping experience.
