My Firsthand Opinion of Secondhand Lions My boyfriend and my parents have been raving about Secondhand Lions for months, so one day I decided to sit down and see what all of the fuss was about. Much to my surprise, it was one of the funniest, yet heartwarming films that I have ever watched. Robert Duvall, Haley Joel Osment, and Michael Caine are amazing actors and they prove it in this movie. This movie is about young Walter spending the summer with his two uncles while his mother is “taking college classes”. The film has humor, action, and wisdom intertwined throughout it. One of the many reasons you should watch Secondhand Lions is because of the humor. Uncle Hub and Uncle Garth are humorous characters, especially when it comes to dealing with traveling salesmen. These two uncles are a catch and they’re very entertaining to watch. They keep you on your toes! Another reason why you should watch Secondhand Lions is because it is action-packed! Hub and Garth tell Walter all kinds of stories about their past. They tell stories about Hub fighting for his princess and leading men into battle. They also get into a couple of action-packed scuffs during the …show more content…
You didn’t really think that they would name the movie Secondhand Lions and not put a lion it, did you? Oh yes, Hub and Garth order a used circus lion that ends up being Walter’s pet. The lion serves as more than just a pet, though, she teaches Walter some very important lessons throughout the movie. This film is the complete package. Even though it is crazy, has several different stories, and never stays at the same pace it is one of the best movies that you will ever see. All of the aspects of the movie tie together and make perfect sense by the end. If you haven’t already seen this fantastically unique movie, then you need to get your hands on it as soon as possible. I promise you won’t regret
As the movie progresses, Walter's new self-confidence shows when his mother returns with her latest abusive boyfriend. The main reason Mae had wanted Walter to stay with his eccentric uncles is to try to find the millions of dollars his uncles are supposed to have hidden away somewhere. Mae and her boyfriend, a supposed private investigator, claim Hub and
During the Talladega 500, Cal Naughton Jr., Ricky Bobby's former best friend, pulled ahead of Ricky, allowing him to slingshot around his car and pass Jean Girard. Though Cal and Girard were teammates at Dennit Racing, Cal disregarded this and jeopardized his team's success to aid Ricky in the movie Talledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. This moment was crucial to Ricky, he having fallen from grace, going from NASCAR's top driver to being let go by Dennit Racing. The love Cal exhibited was a selfless form of love that was centered entirely around Ricky's happiness, not his own. Because of this selflessness, Cal compromised his own agenda, winning for Dennit, and disregarded personal consequence in hopes that Ricky would win the race. If you truly love someone as Cal loved Ricky, you must sometimes compromise your own interests for their benefit.

The theatrical film The Lion In Winter stars Peter O’Toole as King Henry II, and Katharine Hepburn as his wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. Adapted from his stage play of the same title, author James Goldman provides a fictional, but plausible, account of intra-family deceit and political conniving within the large and powerful Angevin Empire, which spanned much of the land that is now Britain, and much of what is now Northeastern France, within the medieval world. Directed and edited by Anthony Harvey, the story, set in the winter of 1183, details the succession crisis faced by the aging King Henry II, as his three surviving sons vie for the crown, and Queen Eleanor plots, both with and against them, to regain her freedom, and become the power behind the throne occupied by her choice of successor. King Philip of France patiently waits, seeking political advantage within the internal fracturing, for the opportunity to destroy the Kingdom that Henry II has worked a lifetime to build.
The 1989 film Do the Right Thing displays a story about racial tension in a predominantly African-American neighborhood. Spike Lee not only directed and produced this film but he was also the main character, Mookie. In spite of maintaining these three jobs, Lee incorporated cinematic techniques that allowed his film to unlock controversial ideals for both Caucasian and African-American viewers. Through the use of camera elements Lee was able to display emotions and tone of the scene without using stating it directly. Lee exhibited film methods such as low-angle shots, close ups, slow motion and panning.
Sex, love, depression, guilt, trust, all are topics presented in this remarkably well written and performed drama. I chose to view the movie Lion, a movie based on the book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley. This movie is about a five-year-old boy, Saroo, living in a poor, rural area in India. Saroo convinces his older brother Guddu, to let him tag along and find work in a nearby city. Saroo ends up trapped and alone in a decommissioned passenger train that takes him to Calcutta, over 1,000 miles away from his home.
The Disney 2D animation allows viewers to simulate many life lessons. The structure of the movie is well rounded for a variety of all age audience. The movie starts off with a Native American tribe in the Pacific Northwest introduces three brothers: Sitka (voice by D.B. Sitka’s totem is an eagle that stands for leadership; Denahi’s totem is a wolf which represents wisdom, and Kenai is a bear that represents

Nosedive is an episode of Black Mirror directed by British filmmaker, Joe Wright. It features protagonist Lacie, who lives in a world where you can rank and be ranked by random strangers on a phone app with augmented-reality retinal implants, based on every interaction you have with them. The episode starts off with Lacie being aggressively cheerful and nice to everybody she meets because she wants a higher rating on the app, because people who have high ratings are on the top of the social food chain. Annalee R. Ward takes notice on racism, sexism, and homophobia in Disney’s The Lion King. The author brings light to parts of the film are not immediately noticed. She explains the main villain, Scar, has darker colors than his protagonist Mufasa and Simba. The author identifies Mufasa as a gay stereotype and expresses its negative perception on the LGBT community. She also takes note of patriarchy with the lions. The male lions are destined to be leaders, although the females are meant to be housewifes. With all the criticisms she gathered up, she has taken light to the film as well. Ward has complimented the film’s successes and explains that there are moral values that family audience can
The Lion King and the Lion King 1 ½ both operate under the ideology that hierarchy and social order structure the society of the animal kingdom, in turn perpetuating the idea that the animals' positions are, in fact, fixed. The first movie disguises that ideology under a veil of unity and community while the Lion King 1 ½ openly confronts the inequality of the society within the animal kingdom. Both movies show how social status can change the way one views a hierarchy society. Those at the bottom of the food chain perceive the the system negatively because it puts them at a disadvantage while this at the top of the food chain have a positive perspective of the system because they benefit form it the most. To demonstrate this
