Environmental issues are human made problems on the planet system, example of these are air, soil, and water. Furthermore these issues also caused by the mistreatment of the planet by humans. This assignment or essay will focus on the major environmental issues affecting Seaview community, the effects of them in my community and ways to prevent or get away of these environmental issues.
Overview: Seaview is the community located in the Eastern Cape in Bizana, There is a lot happening in this community, this includes various industries such as coil industry and power station which cause a lot of pollution in this community, pollutions that have negative impact on people living around, others have a diseases such as cholera and malaria.
Water pollution
Goel (2006) stated that water can be polluted when there is dangerous or dirty chemicals that are thrown on the river where everyone get water when they need it those chemicals or rubbish change the state or the quality of water, this occurs naturally or it can be a results of human activities and the water after these unwanted things that cause water to be polluted, cause the water to be less suitable for drinking, domestic, agricultural,

Contaminants and chemicals in drinking water cause adverse effects on health. These contaminants incudes arsenic, lead, petrochemicals, heavy metals, chlorinated solvents and high levels of fluoride. People have been found to suffer from arsenic skin lesions due to high concentrations of arsenic in water. Polluted water tends to spread water borne diseases, which are typically infectious and are spread directly or through flies and filth. According to Gerald (1996) Sewage in an example of how water pollution affect human, sewage discharged into coastal water can wash up on beaches and cause a health hazard. People who bathe or surf in the water can easily get ill if they swallow polluted
Semaphore is a classic Adelaide beach supporting many facilities. However, this would not be the case if coastal management was not put into progress. Coastal management is a way of supporting the world’s coasts, by using many techniques from construction of structures in which prevents wave energy from reaching the shore to planned strategies. Factors of this includes; rising sea levels, erosion, long and short term drift, sand movement and marine biology. The importance of coastal management is quite significant as it will help to prevent coastal erosion. In addition to this, without coastal management the world will be affect economically, environmentally as well as socially. Without the strategies involving the management of the coast,
Pollution is something we create. It is man made. We pollute our air, and very importantly, our water. The great lakes is one o...
An environmental concern is global warming. Due to all the carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide in our atmosphere, it’s causing the earth to warm up. The rise in temperature is causing climate change in the park to change such as making glaciers to melt. Interestingly enough, if all of the ice caps were to melt, then half of the world’s cities would be flooded under water.
Today pollution is very high in both inland and marine waters. All different types of water pollution are contributing factors in this problem. Here are some things that are associated with pollution: Pathogens: Pathogens are disease causing bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. They usually come from human sewage. As pathogen numbers increase, so does the risk of human health.
Water pollution is a very serious problem as it affects one of the most essential ingredients to our very livelihood. The earth is covered in water, in fact about 70% of the Earth is covered in water, only
'Water pollution is any chemical, physical or biological change in the quality of water that has a harmful effect on any living thing that drinks or uses or lives(in) it. ' (Azeem 1). In Canada, most people live in the southern part along with many agricultural and industrial activities causing the worst cases of water pollution. Water pollution is caused by population growth and industrialization, but can be prevented if proper controls are taken into consideration to help reduce the discharge of waste materials. Water pollution has been a huge disadvantaging concern for humans as well as wildlife for over many decades, but can actually be prevented if attempted. Preventing waste materials from being dumped into lakes and rivers, controlling
... environmental quality leading health indicators are air quality index exceeding 100 and children of ages 3 to 11 exposed to secondhand smoke. Poor water quality can lead to gastrointestinal illness, neurological problems and cancer. Poor air quality can cause cardiovascular disease, cancers, and asthma. Certain chemicals found in homes and workplaces can contribute to severe poisonings and other toxic serious effects.
Floods are also capable of contaminating drinking water that can lead individuals to diseases. They are frequently instigated by waterways, but overfull seas and canals can also produce
“Recreational water illnesses (RWIs) are caused by germs spread by swallowing, breathing in mists or aerosols of, or having contact with contaminated water in swimming pools, hot tubs, water parks, water play areas, interactive fountains, lakes, rivers, or oceans. RWIs can also be caused by chemicals in the water or chemicals that evaporate from the water and cause indoor air quality problems. RWIs may include a wide variety of infections, including gastrointestinal, skin, ear, respiratory, eye, neurologic and wound infections. Many RWIs (skin, ear, eye, respiratory, neurologic, wound, and other infections) are caused by germs that live naturally in the environment (for example, in water and soil)” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
Water can be contaminated while swimming or showering when it id=s direct with our bodies or skin. Air can occur when people breathe in hazardous chemical vapors while inside or outside a very hazardous facorty like. Food can be exposed to hazardous chemicals through the food they eat.
Bhutan is blessed with natural gift of rich environment and fresh water .Poeple of the country is blessed with clean environment and fresh drinking water as of now comparing to other developing nations. With increase in development activities Bhutan’s water is also getting polluted, risking for safe drinking water. The online dictionary meaning of Water pollution means when water bodies
Transportation is a big issue with pollution. Vehicles create smog, catalysts for ozone, and components for acid rain. Smog contains a chemical called ozone. Ozone can seriously affect a human’s health. It reacts with the molecules in the lining of our airways. This then causes inflammation. Acid rain has many ecological effects, but none is as bad as its impact on lakes, streams, wetlands and other bodies of water. Acid rain makes waters acidic, which causes them to absorb the aluminium that goes from soil into water. When bodies of water become more acidic, the numbers and species of fish and other organisms living in the water begin to decrease. There are many examples of water pollution. Raw sewage running into water, industrial waste spills, and exhaust fumes from vehicles. A big problem with raw sewage is that Bacteria use up oxygen in the water, as they decompose the organic material in the water. The lack of oxygen kills animals and other organisms that live in the water. Many harmful chemicals are in industrial waste. These can become drinking water pollutants if not well managed. Car exhaust creates a wide range of gases and solid matter. This causes global warming, acid rain, and it harms the environment and human health. Engine noise and oil spills also cause pollution. Since most oils float, the marine creatures most affected by oil spills are animals like sea otters, and seabirds that are found on the shore or in
Water pollution is one of the main concerns of the environment. It is known as a change in the chemical or physical condition of the waters. Polluting the waters is causing harmful and tragic diseases that affect many families. It is also a global problem that not only affects people but also animals and plants. Water pollution is a current issue that has serious consequences; it progresses everyday in our lakes, oceans, rivers and other bodies of water.
Water pollution is also a major thing in the world because almost 60% of it is fishes. It occurs due to several factors; the industrial waste dumped into the rivers and other water body’s cause am imbalance in the water leading to its severe contamination and deaths. And the infamous Global warming is the emission of greenhouse gases particularly CO2 is leading to global warming.
There are lots of environmental issues going on globally. The earth faces problems such as pollution, global warming, waste disposal, and loss of biodiversity. These are just a small amount of issues out of the so many. These environmental problems pose an abundant amount of risk to the health of humans and animals. There needs to be a solution to all these problems and that is by informing others, so that way everyone can make the environment a better place.
