Search Engine Optimization Introduction Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the act of enhancing the visibility and making web presence to expand the amount of page views to the website. SEO is not just to know about the search engines, but it is to make one’s site better for the users. It is an ongoing process of discovering keywords that will drive the search traffic and thus reach the target audience. This process is sometimes also referred to as content marketing strategy. The most popular search engines are Google which dominates the search engine market followed by Bing, Ask, Baidu, Yandex and others which have their own algorithms for providing search results. Initially it was a simple set of techniques for raising the page to the top of search engine listings and constantly started adding all possible ways of web traffic like social networking. Due to the ever changing algorithms of search engines, the job is becoming challenging for SEO. Search engines are largely interested in the following key factors to perform their searches. 1) Web Content: It is the textual, visual content that determines the theme with proper titles and descriptions. Basing decisions on every metric is a waste of resources and time. As a result, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) distill the vast amount of data into information that is pertinent to the decision making. A theme is a message of a story or the idea that the author wishes to express. The theme in the short story, “Rikki-Tikki-Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling is that evil is punished and good is rewarded. Rikki-tikki’s character is good, and he is the protagonist. Throughout the story he worked to protect Teddy and the family. Rikki-tikki’s reward was keeping the family safe by defeating the cobras. The cobras were evil, and they were antagonists because they tried to kill everyone in the house and in the garden. They were punished by getting defeated, losing the garden, and losing the baby cobras. In this story, the action helped me figure out the theme and helped me realize clearly that it had something to do with good versus evil.
