Scrooge went from being a hateful miser to a genuinely good person. Scrooge was a cold hearted miser who despised Christmas. His friend Marley died same that same day, that’s why he gave a negative attitude to the ones who loved that time of year. Eventually, three ghosts of Christmas come to haunt Scrooge to give him a message.Scrooge learns from the ghost of christmas past, present, and future, when they visit him, that he needed to change his attitude and become more caring or else he will end up dying with no one caring.
Scrooge learns to show emotion when he goes with the ghost of christmas past. When he goes with past, Scrooge is taken back to when he was a kid and sees his little sister. He talks about the events that are occuring.
He then is shown the relationship he had with a merchant. When Scrooge sees this, he thinks about others now and shows emotion at that moment. Past also shows Scrooge the Christmas party dancing with a girl that he was engaged with. During that moment he learns that he should be more happy often. Scrooge learns that he should be nice to others from now on. Present sprinkles kindness to the people arguing on the streets but more on the poor person. Then present says that the very poor need it the most. Later on he takes him to Cratchit’s place, It turns out that people talk trash about him ever since he’s been acting really mean. Scrooge ends up feeling bad and knows he has to change his attitude. The ghost of christmas future teaches scrooge a lesson. Future shows Scrooge his death. Cratchit’s reaction was very emotional because he started to cry. Scrooge again feels bad and feels sorry. Ghost of future takes him to his grave stone. Scrooge gets worried and begs to the ghost of future “i'm not the man I was!” The message that ghost of future was telling him that this is what will happen if he doesn’t change soon. Scrooge went from being a negative to a positive person. He learns from the ghost of Past, Present and Future when they take him. Eventually he did start to be more caring and being more positive like he used to be.
Dickens displays guilt as the main form of how Scrooge’s character develops into a compassionate person by the end of the novella. As Scrooge feels this quilt, it's purely based on the visions that the ghosts provide which further causes Scrooge to realise the consequences of his actions. His alienation from specific characters that he used to love such as Belle, “...has displaced me…” whom left Scrooge, due to his desire for money and wealth which grew. This desire grows with him as he is rejecting the christmas joy and spirit as he continuously states that Christmas is a “humbug,” but by stating this it provides comparison. Dickens depicts that Scrooge has become a better person because of fear but in the end he has become kinder. As the

Ebenezer Scrooge is the major character in the story, A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol is about how a “cold-hearted, tight fisted, selfish” money grabbing man is offered an opportunity of a life time, to change his behaviour, attitude... to have a second chance in life.
Throughout the play, A Christmas Carol, we learn that change begins simply. As stated by Robin Sharma, “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.” Luckily Scrooge changed directly like what Robin Sharma’s quote stated. When he had the help of the three ghosts it was hard in the beginning, messy in the middle, and truly gorgeous at the end. Unfortunately, Scrooge believed that he will suffer too many hardships to change and became a stingy, greedy, and cold-hearted old man. Since Scrooge thought it was hard to change he didn’t think it was worth the time and effort to do it. Luckily for Scrooge, Past, Present, and Future helped him out so he could change. In conclusion moving forward Scrooge will transform into a new man, he keeps Christmas in his heart all year round and will spread love and joy to

In the play, Mr. Scrooge is a greedy man who thinks Christmas is “Bah Humbug!” (Dickens 3). His family has always wanted him to join them for a Christmas feast, but Mr. Scrooge has never wanted anything to do with Christmas. Marley, Mr. Scrooge’s old business partner, didn’t want Mr. Scrooge to end up like him with chains of greed attached to him when he died, so he sent Mr. Scrooge three spirits: Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Those three spirits visited each day to haunt him about his Christmases. Eventually, he traveled with two of the three spirits, but when the spirit of Christmas Future arrived, Mr. Scrooge realized that he would die in a few years. Ebenezer begged for mercy and promised to celebrate Christmas with joy and festivity. (Dickens 7-32) After the haunting with the spirits, Mr. Scrooge woke up and asked a boy what day it was. When the little boy, Adam, replied that it was Christmas, he ordered the boy
In this Stave, Dickens shows the importance of kindness by showing Scrooge’s absence of it and the effects of his harmful indifference. Scrooge is taken into his own past and shown memories of when he was young. The Ghost shows him scenes of when he was small and alone on Christmas. This memory makes him regret his harshness towards a young caroler that had come to his door the previous day. He sees that he lacked kindness and wishes he gave something to the caroler. His indifference towards the caroler insured that Scrooge would remain alone. The Ghost also reminds Scrooge of his beloved sister, Fannie who had died and left only her son. “’Always a delicate creature, whom a breath might have withered,’ said the Ghost. ‘But she had a large heart!’ ‘So she had,’ cried Scrooge. ‘You’re right. I will not gainsay it, Spirit. God forbid!’ ‘She died a woman,’ said the Ghost, ‘and had, as I think, children.’ ‘One child,’ Scrooge returned. ‘True,’ said the Ghost. ‘Your nephew!’ Scrooge seemed uneasy in his mind; and answered briefly, ‘Yes.’” (pg. 33-34). Scrooge’s only connection to his kind and gentle sister is his nephew, who also shares Fannie’s sweet nature. Scrooge is then filled with regret because of his callous treatment and lack of relationship with his nephew, who only wanted to be kind and spread the joy of the season. Scrooge’s sheer indifference and lack of kindness towards his nephew prevented
During the story, Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts from Christmas past, present, and future, who shows the ill-tempered Scrooge how to be feel compassion towards others human beings. A large quantity of the story revolves around money, and it plays a large role, to contrast how generosity is viewed in society. Scrooge is incredibly wealthy, as he lives a l...
When we first met Scrooge, we are informed, and also observe that he is cold, miserly, and bitter. However, after the visit of the Ghost of Christmas future, Scrooge changes into a generous and cheerful man. It is clear that something must have caused a man who is really nice, turn into a mean and nasty person, in this case it was the Industrial Revolution.
The imagery that Dickens gives the readers is very dark and then bright. He hopes to make the readers see good in not only Scrooge but Christmas also. Scrooge is compared to an oyster because the good inside him is concealed just like the oysters pearl on the inside. Throughout the nasty side of Scrooge, something very good is kept from us. Scrooge did not understand why the people who were poor, were also joyful. The way scrooge acted not only hurt the people around him, but he also was hurting himself. When Scrooge met with the last ghost he realized that he had to change. He soon became really close to Tiny Tim and helped paid his medical bills which symbolized the oyster and pearl, because he opened up and people saw the good him. He decides
The Ghost of Christmas Future was going to demonstrate how people would feel for him, money couldn’t solve every problem or buy everything at the wrong time, and the ghost wanted Scrooge to change his attitude. To show Scrooge how others would feel for him, the Ghost of Christmas Future brought him to the time when he was dead and saw a few old people were standing and talking bad words about him and his money, which he didn’t wanted to spend in life time and couldn’t take them with him when he passed away. He was showed that his money couldn’t do everything, he couldn’t change the others mind with his money when he was dead, and was pay back with hates and bad words of him. Plus, he had been to Bob’s house and found out that Timmy Tim would die because Bob didn’t have enough money for his son’s treatments. Although Scrooge was wealthy, and pity Tinny Tim, he still couldn’t take money to exchange the little boy’s life back. Last but not least, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come tried to change the old selfish man by threatened him. He was taken to a graveyard, he saw a grave with his name and date of dead was on 25th December, Christmas Day. Scrooge was told that this would be his grave and he would die because of his character, he was really
Meeting the Ghost of Christmas Past begins the first stage of Scrooge’s transformation: regretting his actions. When Scrooge is shown his younger self alone in his classroom on Christmas, he regrets chasing a Christmas caroler away from his door. The Spirit skips ahead a few years to show him a happier time. His sweet little sister Fan arrives to take him home, and this is his first Christmas in a long time that is spent with family. Unfortunately, Scrooge doesn’t see it that way; seeing this scene makes him “uneasy in his mind” as he thinks about the way he treats his nephew Fred. Instead of treating him like his only family member, Scrooge denies invitations to Christmas dinner every year and is rude whenever Fred speaks to him. He doesn’t have time to dwell on this for long, however; Scrooge has many other important things to think...
