I feel that "Screen Time Limits Are Vital for Children" has many good points to why we parents should limit screen time. "Between 2011-2013, children ages 8 and under more than doubled their use of media devices with screens. The increase for children under age 2 was even higher". I believe some parents let their children have more screen time to keep them occupied while doing daily chores, dinner ect. I as an uncle do not let my nephew have screen time while visiting. I encourage him to do other activities. I feel like children need to learn how to have fun without a electronics. I agree with this outlook of screens, 7.5 hours of screen time per day is way to much for a child even an adult. "It's Time to Let Go of Screen Fears" has
“Get off your phone.” “I’m taking that laptop away.” Many children have dealt with their parents barging into their rooms and telling them to get off their electronics. Parents believe it is not healthy and therefore should be restricted. The two articles, “Blame Society, Not the Screen Time” by Dana Boyd and “Don’t Limit Your Teen’s Screen Time” by Chris Bergman, both talk about how parents should not limit their kid’s screen time.
After reviewing the article,“The Epidemic of Media Multitasking While Learning” By Annie Murphy Paul, it can be concluded that the author believes that most students cannot learn or do any homework related assignments without the usage of social media. With believing that most students cannot focus long enough on an assignment without using social media it provides evidence behind the author’s theory. Thus, with these certain types of studies it leads the author into believing that media multitasking shortens the focus of students in today’s society. Throughout the article, the author supports her main points by utilizing studies that proves her main point. By the author providing multiple examples of the research studies done on students
Technology can disrupt people’s train of thought. To begin with, many people around the world use technology. Electronics can help students and also affect them in many ways, but whether or not shutting down all electronics can help. Schools should participate in “Shut Down Your Screen Week” because of many reasons.
They introduce their characters, their setting and they even establish a well rounded conflict. However, one,“The Sure Thing”, had a very interesting conflict, one that not even the protagonists could solve. The characters, in “The Sure Thing”, where fighting against precision, perfection, and of course the right dialogue. Unknowingly, they were fighting against the action of improving something until it was completely good. The other play, “Trash Anthem”, had a very homogeneous conflict from every other play. Man vs. Conscious. This story was far from unique. The protagonist even said as she conversed with the audience, “ Wish to god this story was more original, folks, but it ain’t.” She knew what I know, this story was not different. Trash Anthem had the best introduction and the best ending, but sadly it didn’t have a good conflict, its weakest link should have been it strongest. Therefore structurally, The Sure Thing, was most
Television, or screen time, has become a large part of today's society. Whether it's by way of smart-phones, a television, a computer, or a tablet, screen time has negative effects on the cognitive ability of children and adolescents. It has even been proven that it can lead to Alzheimer's disease when a person, in the age range of 20-60 years old, views an hour more than the recommended amount of screen time a day (Sigman 14). In children, the amount of screen time viewed has a relationship with the likelihood of developing a deficit in his attention span; the longer a child views screen time, the more likely he is to be diagnosed with an attention disorder. Screen time, or television, can cause attention disorders and other problem with cognitive abilities in children and adolescents that effect the education they can comprehend.
As the parent, I control what my children watch. If I feel television wastes their time, I need to play games or do other activities that help teach my children important things like the importance of learning to share, tolerate differences in other

The amount of screen time teenagers are using have been continuously raising at an an alarming rate. “A number of troubling studies connect delayed cognitive development in kids with extended exposure to electronic media” (Margalit 1). Although social media comforts people in time of need, people that are on social media more often than others have less gray matter and kids who spend more time on the internet have a harder time with emotions; therefore, parents should enforce the AAP's recommendation for screen time usage.
Should teens limit their screen time? Today, we live in a digital age and screens are everywhere and it becomes very easy for teenagers to spend hours each day engrossed with screens. While technology has many perks, the extensive use of screens can bring more harm than good. Teens should limit their use of screen time because too much can have negative health effects, it can cause them to miss meaningful moments, and while screens have social benefits, it is not worth the unfavorable physical and neurological effects. To begin with, teens should restrict their use of screen time because an excessive amount of screen time can have detrimental health effects.
Children's Screen Time Can be Important Ever wake up early on saturday and flick on the tv qnd see whatever terrible cartoons they put on? It was definitly better as a kid. Children eat this stuff up, and to be fair thats their target audience. TV or screens in general gives kids a way to stay occupied, It's better than the alternative, trust me on that one. Childrens viewing time shouldn't be limited by parents on anybody for that matter, it should be controlled by their own imagination, because it's not bad for them, they get to relax and unwind while still learning, and certain things such as videogames, are good because it improves rapid, snap thinking, hand eye coordination, and problem solving. Most modern screens, whether it be a cell
While I see nothing wrong with screen time, I do believe that to much is a bad thing. With my children, I limit screen time to 1-2 hours a day for my 2 year old son and 2-4 hours for my 6 year old daughter. I didn't want to cut out screen time all together because I personally think it is a good way for kids to learn in some parts. My daughter has had bad social anxiety for many years now that has hindered her from making friends. I decided that it was time to do something about it. So when a friend of mine would decide a play date, we would let the two get online and talk it out before. I had noticed such a big difference in my daughters social abilities. With that being said, at the time i had not set a screen limit yet. She had developed
Internet research such as blogs and unofficial sites were valid in providing a great deal of information relevant to my topic that could assist in answering the research question however, they were all generally unreliable due to many not having an author listed and the ones that did had no qualifications in either childhood obesity or screen time. Blogs can be seen as bias as many are generally based entirely on the authors point of view and opinions.
Experts have many different reasons on why or why not screen time is good or bad. I personally think it's great, for various reason. Television, video games, and tablets. These are different ways of technology in our time period that helps young children, teenagers and even adults learn the world. Some critics blame screen time as to why young children is not as active, which to me isn't true.
Additionally, there have been warnings from doctors of the problems that can come from too much screen time. The U.S. National Library of Medicine associates too much screen time to troubles sleeping, risk of attention problems, anxiety, depression, and obesity (MedlinePlus 1). Other doctors such as, Dr. Dorothy Barrie, add that screen time is creating vision problems (Barrie 1). “Most American children spend… a total 5 to 7 hours a day (in front of a screen)” (MedlinePlus 1). If schools start to encourage hours and hours of technological learning then it could lead to serious health issues, especially for the younger students. Granted, we do not desire to harm children, electronics in schools will be filling the students with development and
