So he became able to read faster and understood the grammar easier. Esposito faced several challenges during reading the book. Frist challenge, he was unable to understand new vocabulary so he had to look them up every time. Also it was hard to him to guess what do words mean, since his knowledge in Spanish was still poor. Spain's bishop of the Yucatán, the Franciscan friar Diego de Landa, is known for his brutality with the Mayans. In 1562, he testified that he destroyed 5,000 Mayan "idols" and burned 27 hieroglyphic books which had mayan history in them. He believed Mayan culture, beliefs, and writings were nothing more than a waste of space. Landa's narrow-mindedness came with consequences. After destroying Mayan books, Landa wrote his account of the Mayans of the Yucatán “Relación de las cosas de Yucatán” using information provided by the Mayan sources he had destroyed. Landa's account also became the most important source for much of what we know today about the Mayans. In this writing Landa provides details on how the Mayans used their ancient calendar
December 6, 1989, was one of the most horrific days in Canadian history, that is the date of the Montréal Massacre. A lone gunman with a deep hatred for females walked into the university that day, separated the males from the females and murdered 14 women and injured 13 other people then took his own life. Marc Lépine targeted only women because he felt that women were taking over all the jobs and there would be no jobs left for men. He blamed all females for ruining his life and stated that he was fighting feminism. Marc Lépine was and still is responsible for destroying many lives that day but he was not born misogynistic we are not born to hate we are taught it. Could his father Rachid Liass Gharbi be responsible for Marc’s misogynistic

JROTC can prepare students for post-high school success.
Authors have done many essays on learning and teaching. In two particular essays, the authors focus more on reading and learning to speak good, which is also associated with reading. The narrators in Frederick Douglas’s essay “Learning to Read and Write” and Maxine Hong Kingston’s “Learning to Speak Like and American Girl” not only tell the reader about their conflict of relationship between society’s dominant culture and their own sense of identity, but educate the reader and explain the choices the characters make which determine the direction of their lives.
To obtain a complete understanding of the word knowledge of students who are learning English, it is important their reading abilities (WTW, 2012). There are many ways to assess the reading abilities for ELL’s. For example, spelling inventories help explore the literacy knowledge of an ELL; however, the test should be first administered in their primary or first language. According to Words their way: Word Study for Phonics, Vocabulary, and Spelling instruction, “a spelling inventory in students’ spoken language can indicate their literacy levels in the primary language, and more specifically, show which orthographic features they already understand” (WTW, 2014). Bilingual learners rely on knowledge of their primary language to spell words in a second language (WTW, 2014). Teachers can also assess ELL’s reading comprehension through sequencing activity (Ada, 1990). For example, teachers can have ELL’s write individual sentences from the text on separate sheets of drawing paper; then read or have the students read each sentence and illustrate it (Ada, 1990). Teachers can also informally test students’ ability to sequence material from a story by printing sentences from a section of the story on paper strips, mix the strips; have students put them in order (Ada, 1990). According to Spanish-Language Children’s Literature in the Classroom, teachers should “read to newcomers every day” (Ada, 1990). Appropriate reading material for beginning English Language Learners (ELL) should include numerous illustrations that help clarify the text, story plots that are action-based, little text on each page, text that contains repetitive, predictable phrases, high-frequency vocabulary and useful words, text that employs simple sentence structures (Ada, 1990). When you read to beginning ESL students, be sure to make language comprehensible to them (Ada,

Donald Trump is a successful businessman who has accomplished more than most people could ever dream of. He started in the real estate business and has his own university, appeared on a T.V. show, is a billionaire, has many golf resorts, and is the president of the United States. He is criticized for many of his comments and political views. Some of these views are him wanting to build a wall to protect the United States from illegal immigrants and drugs, wanting to replace The Affordable Care Act, and banning people from Muslim countries to keep out terrorists. Although Donald Trump is often viewed as a controversial figure, he benefitted the United States of America by improving and creating jobs, proving that non-establishment politicians can still win the presidency, and by making America safer.
Question: Describe and explain the effect that a writer’s language techniques had on your understanding of a text you studied in class.
There are also cases when texts written in readers’ first language fails to enlightened them. This is because they have no prior knowledge on the ideas or facts written. A student majoring in Arts will have problem comprehending a text written on Chemical Engineering and vice versa. This inevitably causes ‘tunnel vision’ to resurface. They could go on reading till the last page of the text without understanding the content.

Good reading skills are very important in learning languages. Reading improves spelling because as students learn to sound out letters and words, spelling comes easier. It helps to expand the vocabulary, since the best way to acquire a large vocabulary is to read. Students learn new words as they read and put them in their mind for later use. . They also unconsciously absorb the information about things like how to structure the sentences, how words are used in different contexts, and it gives a better understanding of the word usage and definitions than the cold facts of a dictionary. It improves a person’s vocabulary and knowledge without the person even knowing it. Even if students do not understand every word, they will hear new sounds, words and phrases which they can then try out, copying what they have heard. They can comprehend ideas, follow arguments and detect implications. Reading texts also provide good models for English writing. Krashen (2004) found that reading is extremely important in learning English, since it is the only way to “become a good reader, develop a good writing style, an adequate vocabulary, advanced grammar” and the only way to “become a good speller”.
