Reflection

There are many social issues that we are aware of and maybe for some of us, we have gradually become accustomed to them. This course gave me the opportunity to take another closer look at the society and the direction it is moving towards. I like how this course was different from others I 've taken in the education program because it focused on how social theories apply to science and math education, hence giving a clearer picture of how they are relevant in teaching math and science.
In my autobiography, I explained that one of my motivations in becoming a science teacher is getting science to connect to students; having them realize that science can be interesting, important and worth learning. While re-reading my autobiography, I realized that I neglected the social aspects that come along with learning science and this course allowed me to become more aware of how social constructs can possibly interfere with students ' learning and attitude towards learning.
Most of my views about science came from my experience as a student learning about science but now that I have become a teacher I need to learn looking at science from a teacher 's perspective, which means I have to consider different factors that …show more content…

It made me realize how much my view about teaching and learning is limited as I base myself a lot on my own experience as a student. While reflecting, I discovered more about myself but I also found myself contradicting and having mixed feeling about certain topics. And I think this is to remind me once again the complexity of our world; not everything is black or white and sometimes it 's just matter of perspective. I learned from this course that many conflicts exist in the society we live in.
