How does drinking an energy drink affect the heart rate of a person? If one drinks a Full Throttle, that person’s heart rate will rise.The idea of this science fair project is if someone drinks an energy drink then that person’s heart rate will rise and could have either a positive or negative effect on the human heart.This project is interesting to me because I consume energy drinks and I want to find out how they effect my heart rate.
Energy drinks are supposed to help with the alertness and the overall energy of a person. Now, the science behind it and the research will prove if that is true or not. The reason for doing this was because of how the drink affected each person differently. If this project were to be repeated, there would be some things done differently. The first thing that would need to be done differently would be that the test subjects should only drink water before the test. Some of the test subjects had drank other caffeinated drinks before the test and that skewed the results. Also, there would be more time between after the drink is finished and when the heart rate is checked again. And lastly, another thing about the experiment that should be changed is the amount of people that the test was done on. The test needed more people for the results to be more accurate.
If one drinks a Full Throttle, then that person's heart rate will rise. That is what the hypothesis was. The data that is presented does support the hypothesis. As a group the average heart rate rose 10%. The reasoning behind this is like what was stated above. The caffeine started the fight or flight response giving the body more energy. So in conclusion, Alcoholic Energy Drinks should be banned in the United States because they can cause heart palpitation, and produce sleeping problems. They impair a person’s ability to judge their level of intoxication, which could lead someone to drink past their limit resulting in an overdose. They increase the likeliness of people engaging in risky behaviors such as driving while under the influence, and having unprotected sex. They also increase the chances of sexually assaulting someone or being sexually assaulted.

In the present society, people’s schedules tend to be extremely hectic due to either strenuous work schedules or keeping up with school and families. Due to this, numerous individuals do not obtain the recommended eight hours of sleep. On top of not getting enough sleep, they do not eat the proper foods to nourish their bodies. In return, they have a substantial lack of energy. Usually people who do not take care of themselves tend to eventually get more tired by mid-day and as their day goes on. A simple solution would be to go to bed earlier and eat better foods. However, our society has become very lazy, obese, and have started to take the easy way out over the years. Instead of eating better and trying to get more sleep, people drink energy drinks as an easy and fast way to get a boost of energy. Energy drinks have been around since the nineteen-sixties and have become increasingly more popular. There are hundreds of different brands of energy drinks that are sold in grocery stores and gas stations today, and worse than that billions of them are consumed every year. Even though multiple energy drinks are consumed every year, many people are uninformed about; what an energy drink is, what the benefits and non-benefits are, what different types of energy drinks there are, and how mixing them with alcohol can be seriously dangerous.
