An exam that I felt poorly prepared this semester was my second physics exam that I took the past week. The test fell on the Monday right after spring break had ended and during the break I had not really studied as much to prepare for the test. Before the break, I had gone to an SI session. Two days before the test I went to a test review that was being held and also studied with friends the day before the test. I did not do as much as I should have to prepare for the test which is why the outcome was not the best. The test that I went to did not really help me since I was not understanding the material well. I should have looked into previous test weeks before the test or study during the break. I neglected things like SI sessions and going to ASC tutoring to get some help to understand the content better. Not doing any of these things led me to feel very unprepared for the test since I was going in confused about the content that was going to be tested. …show more content…
Going to more SI sessions when I am available to go. Go to tutors and seek out the help that I need to understand the material. Going through lecture notes can also help out. These methods will help because I will be getting help much earlier so that I can understand the tested learning objectives before the test arrives. These methods does not only apply to physics. They work for any subject because who wouldn’t want to get a good grade on their exams. To ensure that I cover all the material on the next test is to look into the learning objectives that will be on the test so that I can mostly focus on those specific objectives and not have to worry about irrelevant ones. I’m sure all these methods would sound good for anyone since it is the ideal thing to do to prepare for exams but it is a strategy that I will try
This goes along with the scientific study mentioned in the article that students who had two studying sessions did exceptionally well on a test given right after the sessions, but gradually forgot the material (Carey, 2010). An additional studying condition I have is to do practice problems and tests on the material I will be tested on. This connects to the reading for the reason that I am being exposed to a variety of problems, which, according to the text, is a brilliant way to review. My studying habits will be adjusted to be like the ones mentioned in the article so that I will make the most of my reviewing
One thing I can do to help me study is to ask one of my older siblings to quiz me on the topic and/or chapter. Another thing I can do is make flash cards so I am able to quiz myself when I am unable to get help from another person. Essentially, these flash cards would have vocabulary terms and their definitions on them, or maybe even a math problem and its correct answer.

The test taking lessons have helped me learn more about having good strategies for a test. I feel that with these lessons learned I can have more confidence to take a test and pass it. In this report I want to show why test taking is an important skill to learn. I also wanted to describe how I have prepared for test in the past. I also wanted to discuss three strategies I have learned from the computer tutorial in class and how I have changed my study habits so I can do better on test.
Two of the most important study skills are setting goals and taking notes. A student may set a time goal, such as studying a few hours a week; set a general goal, such as trying to study hard and stay on schedule; set a specific performance goal, such as getting at least 80% of the homework problems correct. Another important study skill is taking notes. Students generally make two kinds of mistakes in taking notes. One is to try to write down everything the instructor says, which leads to confusing notes. The other is to copy concepts that they do not understand but hope to learn by memorization. Good notes are compromised of the following: 1) written information summarized in your own words; 2) outline the important concepts; 3) try to associate the lecture notes with the material text; 4) asking yourself questions and making up questions from the notes.

However, I was only one point off which is very tedious. I should’ve studied more on the first few quizzes or tests. Improving my study habits is necessary to help with improving my grade.
I scored 14/15 on my receptor and my comprehension test. A few of the receptor questions were a little difficult, but I managed to get most of them correct. It was difficult at times, especially if I was not one hundred percent sure on the true meaning of the word. The comprehension test was fairly easy for me. It did take a lot of focus and concentration, but I was able to pick out the selected details necessary for the examine.
As the Guest Lectures come to an end, I really enjoyed this portion of the career planning class, as I got to learn about so many careers in the STEM fields and how each of the speakers got into their respective position. Overall, the speakers today did a good job talking about their careers, but I felt like sometimes, I lost track of what they were talking about. The presentation that began with Dr. Cherie Yestrebsky started the class off really well, but then as it progressed to the other speakers, I felt that it was harder to follow along during the presentation. I attended Mass at my local parish, the Parish of St. Francis de Sales, on Sunday, October 9th, in order to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist. The first thing a person can do to improve their study habits is take better notes. When taking notes you do not have to write down every word the teacher says, if you do that you’re not going to know what's important and what's not important. If you do that you’re going to be studying things that’s not important and that could confuse you and make studying really boring. Write down only the things that you think are important. You can even read ahead in a book and highlight what you think is good information to know. If the teacher says anything more than once, or puts emphasis on something, highlight that it could be on your next test. Good thinking skills are especially important in note taking.
