When Rain gets injured, some changes have to be made in Cap’s life. He now has to go to a public school and this will be a very big change in his life. He will meet modern society and learn how it works. In Garland they didn’t believe in modern society like using money, electric, and Cap hasn’t met a boy his age before. As Cap is laying on the floor, everyone in the hallway goes insane, yelling, shouting and spreading the word. Then an ambulance pulls up and everyone thinks it’s for Cap, but it’s really for Rain. Rain feels better and it’s now time for them to go back home to Garland. They drive to Garland and when Cap gets back he misses staying at the Donnelly’s and asks to go back for the Halloween dance. Rain says no but Cap goes anyways. Cap sneaks out and walks to the farthest gas station and where he sees Sophie. Cap tells her about the Halloween dance and then they go together. At C-Average Middle School, rumors have been going around that Cap is dead. Zach and Hugh hold a “funeral” for Cap where everyone wears tie-die and holds candles. When Cap and Sophie arrive at the funeral, they are wearing Mickey and Minnie mouse masks but immediately realize that they are honoring Cap. Cap gets on stage and everyone is in shock. Cap explains how he needs to get back to Garland and says goodbye to every single person. When Cap gets back Rain sells Garland so Cap can still stay with his friends and the Donnelly’s. As you can see, Cap changed a lot throughout the story, from first being the kid no one liked, to now being the most popular kid in

In addition, they discuss Andy's sentence because Andy keeps punishing himself for Rob's death. Everybody at school was crying during Rob's memorial service. Grief Counselors from downtown come to the school to try to get the kids to share their feelings.
“But then some of us saw the king of person Cap was… Some of us appreciate how he devoted his heart and soul to the school.”(C25, P166, #5) This shows how Capricorn Anderson changed the kids at Claverage Middle School, and students start to like him and are now doing tai-chi and wearing tie-dye just like him. Cap is meant to be a spotlight character which other characters are affected by. ”All at once, she put a death grip on my shoulder. ‘Look around-ponchos, tie-dyes, peace signs. Cap, they are in costume. They are dressed as you!’”(C27, P185, #9) Near the climax, a memorial for Cap Anderson is held, and all 1100 students are there. This shows how Cap has affected the students of Claverage Middle School from his first day till

You might have remembered him as the funky-looking stylist of Katniss Everdeen on the trilogy Hunger Games and have forgotten how great of an artist Lenny Kravitz is. With her edgy hairstyles, the occasional facial piercings and the soulful tracks he had released during his entire career, we can all surmise that he's one extraordinary soloist. Brought to mainstream fame during the 1990s after his iconic and relatable track Again, Kravitz has been very active in the music industry but on a low-key.

When they get to the truck stop, Holly wakes up and goes to the restroom with Jeanine where she tells Jeanine that she does not want to go through with the plan anymore. This bothers Jeanine because she is always trying to control Holly. Holly then goes back out to eat with Trooper Joe and the two seem to hit it off pretty well. Jeanine is disgusted by the two, so she gets up and walks out into the snowstorm. While she’s walking, she sees lights in the sky that she calls “Ice
In the story “Two Kinds”, the author, Amy Tan, intends to make reader think of the meaning behind the story. She doesn’t speak out as an analyzer to illustrate what is the real problem between her and her mother. Instead, she uses her own point of view as a narrator to state what she has experienced and what she feels in her mind all along the story. She has not judged what is right or wrong based on her opinion. Instead of giving instruction of how to solve a family issue, the author chooses to write a narrative diary containing her true feeling toward events during her childhood, which offers reader not only a clear account, but insight on how the narrator feels frustrated due to failing her mother’s expectations which leads to a large conflict between the narrator and her mother.
“Death of a Salesman’s main character, Willy Loman, is an open book”, Wade Bradford states in his theatrical review of Arthur Miller 's play. It may be true that this is a tragedy about Willy Loman, a mediocre salesman for 34 years who refuses to accept reality. At 60, he is cast aside from society, his usefulness exhausted and as a result, Loman commits suicide. In reality, this is a story how the house of cards collapses if you constantly lie to yourself. From my perspective Willie Loman is not an open book. As a matter of fact, Loman contradicts himself throughout the story because his personality is full of dilemmas. For instance, Willy says «Bigger than Uncle Charley! Because Charley is not - liked. He 's liked, but he 's
School has been hectic in a good way. Its senior year, where there is a lot of pressure on what is my next step. I know for a fact that I want to go to college. I have my list of where I want to go, some of the colleges are University of Connecticut, Vanderbilt University, Quinnipiac University, Mount St. Mary College, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Baruch College, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Cortland, High Point University. I am thinking of majoring in International Business and minoring in linguistics, or double majoring in International Business and International relations and minoring in linguistics. Let me know your opinion on what you think of my majors and schools and let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thus piece was created just after photography had gained momentum. The piece was thus created as a reaction towards the times, to show freedom from realism, as photographers has cornered the market at the time. So, Wassily chose to take a slightly abstract approach to an actual location to express this artistic freedom. As can be seen in the painting, Wassily seems to express her joy with vibrant colors taking the main spotlight of the painting, with minor details to augment the scenery. As Wassily stated himself, “Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammer, the soul is the piano with the strings”. This statement shows that Wassily holds color to a high standard, as can be seen in the piece. His broad paint strokes help augment the overall beauty of the painting
“Little Red Cap” quickly became a household tale among children and adults, due to the imperative lessons that it directs to children and their parents'. Behind the initial story lies a message which, ”Cautions young girls to mind their mothers and not stray from the path to wander in the forbidden woods” (Rholetter). The forest represents any unfamiliar place that children can easily become lost within, while the path to grandmother’s house can represent a place the child is accustomed to. As soon as Little Red Cap begins her journey, she is confronted by a wolf. When they first meet, the wolf acts as a polite gentleman would towards any young lady which earns Little Red Cap’s trust instantly, "Little Red Cap, just where does your grandmother live? said the Wolf. Little Red Cap eagerly replied, Her house is a good quarter hour from here in the woods, under the three large oak trees. There's a hedge of hazel bushes there. You must know the place”(Grimm). This portrays children being subjected to the danger of strangers acting as friends to others for their own personal gains. The Brothers Grimm version of “
Everyone has a general interest in becoming more intelligent, so reading books and articles is the most interesting and simple way to do so. On the other hand, when someone tries to make you read into a belief or concept that is not in your original core of values, it gets tough. Being able to wrap you head around the ideas without having any sort of bias is seemingly impossible. This same difficulty applies to the book; “This Will Make You Smarter” edited by John Brockman. You may ask why the cover of the writing says “edited by”, and that is because these are the works of many other authors put together in correlation to John Brockman 's ideas. Throughout the book John uses these other authors ' works to create an image of scientific individuality from person to person. This means he is attempting to give every reader more 'tools ', or ideas, in their minds about how to think a certain way to make them smarter by
The film opens as the protagonist, Dewey Finn, is kicked out of the Rock-and-Roll band he performs as a singer and guitarist in after an evening of particularly extraordinary antics results in their performance ending early. During breakfast with his roommates the morning after the aborted performance, Dewey is reminded of his overdue rent payments. As he works to sell some of his musical instruments via telephone, he answers a phone call intended for Ned, one of his roommates. The phone call is from a prestigious private school principal inquiring as to Ned’s availability to work as a substitute teacher, and distraught and overwhelmed by his need to make
The first character I’m gonna talk about is Zach Powers. He was one of the popular 8th graders, and he was mean to Cap and he judged him. He gets schooled because he makes Cap the president and tries to make fun of him. But surprisingly, he becomes the most popular 8th grader. Zach then becomes unpopular . For example on page he says,”How do you think I felt at lunch on Tuesday when I walked with the tray and found Cap at my table in my seat?” This shows he’s mad that Cap is now popular. He should have learned to not make fun of people. He is a static character, he doesn’t really change.

Frank McCourt is a teacher and Teacher Man is his memoir. It is a compilation of his stories and experiences, good and bad, as a teacher. This memoir is his chance to be honest about the profession and his journey to finding himself and reaching his full potential as an educator. The title of this memoir came from his students, believe it or not. Many times they would call him Man or Teacher and by the end of his time Teacher Man became his new name. Teacher Man is a compelling memoir because it shows the harsh reality of becoming a teacher and the real problems that teachers face every day, not just in the school, but at home as well. McCourt opens his life to everyone and proves that educators have a life outside of school and classes, even
