South Shore Schools should have school year round. South Shore should have school all year because it would give kids more time to learn more and in greater depth. Students would have three more months of school each year to learn more and since school is about nine months students would get about one more year of time in school every three years which could help students excel in their studies. Another reason why students at South Shore should have school all year is that during the summer no learning is enforced and students can forget what they learned during the last year. This can cause students to get behind in their studies when they come back to school and then students can get poor grades and learn less because they are overwhelmed.
In conclusion, the advantages of year-round schooling are beneficial to all. If all schools did change to year round schooling, I believe we would be able to teach all the students without having to reteach skills from previous years, it could be done during intersessions. Year-round schooling benefits both the teachers and students. Teachers are able to reflect on their teachings and adjust in time before the next session would begin. The students would feel positive about themselves in school. With this change, we may even be able to accomplish No Child Left Behind.
One reason why there shouldn't be year round school is because kids have a lack of free time. Therefore, they wouldn't have a summer break or other breaks which means they couldn't hang out with family like what kids would normally do. Another reason why they would have a lack of free time is because they would be worrying
Eighty-six percent of public schools in the United States operate on a traditional school calendar, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. Although you can receive the same education at a year round school that you can at a traditional school, traditional schools are better. They are better because traditional schools educate all students, have access to government funds, and have qualified teachers.
For one, East Jordan high school needs to add more classes because of scheduling. More classes adds variety. It gives students many more classes to chose from. EJMHS needs to offer more than just Physical Education, BAMO, Woods, Autos, AP English, AP History, and AP Biology. Students wouldn't have to take classes they don't want. Additionally, more classes could help with scheduling conflicts. Classes students signed up
Year round school is just simply too much for students. Many families believe summers are made for creating memories and should not be spent in a school. “I don’t want my daughter enrolled in year round school because it is way too much work and stress” Most kids already have enough work as it is, plus after school responsibilities such as watching a younger sibling, cleaning up the house, or mowing the lawn. Some teenagers also might have a problem with getting a job because of year round school schedule.
Would you consider going to a school where you learn year-round? Maybe this would be your ideal school, but, when would you get to have some time to go to summer camp, or get a summer job, or play a sport with games during the day? Schools with the traditional schedule may actually be a better choice, and not just because kids love summer break. Schools should have a traditional school year schedule instead of a year round schedule because there isn’t a significant difference between the students’ performance, and year round schedules make planning family vacations hard, make the teachers’ job more difficult, and are more expensive. Also, having a summer break allows kids to participate in activities that they would not be able to do on a year round schedule due to the shorter breaks.
As a student, it can be hard to remember things from past school years, when you have a long summer break breaking the educational flow. This knowledge loss over a long summer break can lead to a lot of time being wasted on re-teaching past lessons. Year round schooling supports the teachers to just keep continually teaching kids new information over a year long period, without big reviews which can take up days or weeks depending on the subject. Also, when students are let out for a long summer break, it can cause new sleeping patterns and motivational habits to develop. This can be a problem when school starts up and kids are out of sync from the long summer break they just had. With the year-round schooling the breaks are much shorter which could prevent a student from getting into a new sleep or study habit. Having well rested and attentive students is a big help to the teachers.Year-round schooling is also helpful for teachers because with the numerous breaks they would have more time to catch up on grading papers and/or projects from their classes; parents would then have better up-to-date status of their child’s grades. If students go to a year-round school they could have a better chance of not getting homework over their breaks (Debate.org). This is because most teachers who teach at year-round schools feel that they are not as rushed to teach their curriculum because they don’t have to waste time on reviewing past lessons and kids can use their past knowledge better to help understand what they are learning
After a long summer, the time has finally come for Sam and his classmates to return to school. Sam dreads going back to school, because he knows that the first weeks of school mean long, boring reviews. Despite the fact that Sam and his friends do not like to study topics they have already learned, they need to review because most students forget what they learned over the three-month break period. Many students can relate to Sam, wasting two weeks or more at the beginning of the school year. Parents, teachers, and students across the United States believe a better option exists that will waste less time. Many suggest the idea of a year-round school schedule. Almost all schools should adopt a year-round schedule because of the many advantages including higher academic
One reason all year-round schools should not be made for example kids need to relax their brains. If the people that run year round school don’t cancel all year-round school kids won't be able to relax and spend time with their families. Another example Summer vacation gives kids time to relax their brains and prevents students and teachers from being exhausted. Students and
Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Our world is fueled by knowledge of every person who lives, and who has lived. Now there is controversy over when our students should be learning, and when they should be on break. While many schools are switching to a year-round school calendar in order to try and increase student achievement, the traditional 10 month calendar should be the preferred format due to structure of school programs, organization, and higher academic results.
Should school be year-round? Well, I say yes because our young people will get done with High School faster. And if school is year round, students will not have a chance to get in a lot of trouble and they will not be able to join a gang or have time to hang on a block because they will not have a long summer break. Somebody needs to bring this problem to the school board to see if they will make the change to save many students’ lives by keeping them off the streets and keeping them in school all year long. If the children were in school longer, they would most likely turn out better, but it’s up to the people of communities to push kids through school.
The first reason why year round schooling wouldn’t be a good idea is because of focusing for long periods of times for some students. First of all, many kids with disabilities or elementary school would have a hard time focusing that long of a time without their traditional three month summer break. Second, the more breaks students have might make it harder to focus before and after breaks. Before breaks many kids would be excited to
Imagine your self in the middle of July the sun is shining the birds are chirping with no clouds in the sky and you are sitting in a classroom with no air condition. All you can think about is going outside to play but you have to learn. This is what would happen if schools turned to year round schooling. So year round schooling is a bad idea.
First, the cost of going an extra hour is tremendous. The teachers will want a raise in their checks, because they will have to deal with kids for an extra hour rather than go home and spend time with their family. Also, the school will have to pay for electricity so the school will run out of money quick. I want our school to at least keep money so
Teens need to be able to get out of the same, enclosed building and enjoy some fresh air every once in a while. Kids get sick of being cooped up in the same building, sitting in classroom after classroom, for 7 hours a day. It would be nice for students to be able to go outside during the school day to just breathe, relax, and prepare for the rest of their classes. Diana V. from Foothill High School claims, “When the school keeps students on campus it makes the students want to leave” (Should High Schools).
