I would like to propose a plan to add the following things to our school building. First of all I feel that we need an auditorium to the area where the basketball courts used to be. The project will cost 15,000$ and will take up the area where the old basketball courts used to be. I believe that the benefits of adding an auditorium would heavily outweigh the costs because the students will have a place to rehearse, a place to hold large assemblies and a place to put on performances, rather then using someone else’s facility’’s. We would be able to put on our concerts without paying money to rent out space to use.
The second idea I have would make in our school would be to add-on to our gymnasium. Our gym facility that we have now is far to small to perform physical activity’’s. Our sports teams need an area to practice when there is inclimate weather. The room that we use now for a gym is more like a classroom then a gym. The cost for the new gym would be 10,000$ and it would take up some of the area in the school yard.
The final idea I have for additions to our school would be to make our lunchroom bigger. The room we eat lunch in now is not suitable to hold the number of children it needs to in order to eat lunch comfortably. I think that the lunch room could be extended underground into the portion of the school yard where the portable is. The cost of the project would be 36,000$ and would not take up any space in the yard at all. Adding an extension to the lunchroom would help the students to enjoy their lunches in comfort.
Connecting people to the success of the district is one matter, but asking them to support it financially is another. The district is growing in size and is in need of new facilities and internal academic structures to support the growth. As the district continues to grow she is challenged with ensuring that the schools continue to interact with each other and do not return to the independent silos they were when she arrived. Ms. Hall realizes that she is the internal and external face of the district. She takes that very seriously and therefore, tires to view challenges as opportunities and successes as building blocks and
Money is represented with the color green as well. Throughout the novel, Gatsby is constantly trying to buy and show off to gain Daisy’s affection. Tom Buchanan uses his “old money” to make up for their relationship problems between Daisy and often avoids solving their issues. Gatsby’s new money can be seen as filth because of the mysterious ways he earns it. Later Tom announces his feelings of Gatsby and his “new money” spending, “I know I’m not very popular. I don’t give big parties. I suppose you’ve got to make your house into a pigsty in order to have any friends — in the modern world,” (Fitzgerald, 139).
Pink throughout the story represents Daisy and Gatsby’s love for each other. One major example is Gatsby’s pink suit. “‘Like hell he is! He wears a pink suit’” (Fitzgerald 122). Gatsby wears a pink suit when he meets with Daisy, exemplifying his love and passion for her. Further, Gatsby only wears the pink around Daisy. Pink is also used to demonstrate Gatsby’s love even after he loses her, “I could think of nothing except the luminosity of his pink suit under the moon” (Fitzgerald 142). Fitzgerald includes pink in the scene to show that even though Gatsby’s chances with Daisy are over, he still has a strong passion for her. Fitzgerald also shows that Gatsby is willing to risk his own safety to conserve and indemnify Daisy’s safety. Pink can also be seen during Daisy and Gatsby’s ephemeral moment of love. When Gatsby and Daisy first reunite Daisy states, “I’d like to just get one of those pink clouds and put you in it and push you around” (Fitzgerald 94). Fitzgerald includes this pink refrence to demonstrate to readers the love and passion between Daisy and Gatsby. The color appears again in the story when Daisy’s room contains a pink glow (Fitzgerald 144). In this situation, pink shows the reader there is still a passion between the two even though the relationship is dead. Although Gatsby ultimately failed in reuniting with Daisy, pink still represented the love and passion between
Also if Oak Creek High School has off-campus lunch, the school would save more money. By letting the student body have an open campus lunch, the school would be required to spend less money for clean up supplies, equipment, and for maintaining the cafeteria. The less that’s spent and the more that’s saved will allow more money to be available. There could be more money for extra-curricular activities, sports, and clubs. The money could be used t...
There is a nationwide trend in which taxpayers are asked to pay for new stadiums these stadiums benefit a single corporation. A sport construction boom has started, these new stadiums cost a minimum of $200 million to build, but usually cost much more. New stadiums have been built, or are underway, in New York, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Seattle, Tampa, Washington DC, St. Louis, Jacksonville, and Oakland. This competitive trend replaces old stadiums with high tech flashy stadiums used exclusively for one sport. These stadiums are unnecessary, and not cost efficient. Most of the time new stadiums are not used for multi-purposes, they bring in money exclusively for the professional league and not ...
Descartes’ argues that the mind and body are two separate entities. The body occupies space, and so it is always divisible, while the mind is made up of thoughts that are immaterial and cannot be divided, thus it is indivisible. Using the idea behind Leibniz’s Law, “different properties, different things”, Descartes’ begins to construct his argument for the reasons he believes that the mind and body are completely different things. I will go over the reason he thinks the body can be divided, while the mind cannot. Furthermore, I will explain why I agree that the body is divisible, but disagree that the mind is always indivisible. Finally, I will support why Descartes’ views of mind and body dualism is a plausible argument, even if I do not think it is a sound argument with what I know about modern advancements in science.
Descartes started his Meditations by doubting all his ideas and believes, and his goal was to acquire a certain foundation of knowledge. Descartes, a rationalist, believes in innate ideas, which are built into us naturally and not dependent or derived by experiences. As an example, Descartes believes in the existing of God, a powerful and perfect. Also, as a perfect God; he will not try to trick or deceive people by making them believe that they are sensing a physical thing when there is in fact no such material thing; therefore God is not a deceiver, who gives people the right ideas. On the other side, John Locke, an empiricist, who believes that all ideas come from experience, raise an objection on Descartes premises of the innate ideas because Locke does not believe in such thing as ideas, which are built in us naturally and the reason of the of putting the right ideas is God for he is perfect.
Everybody enthusiastically suggested different project. It was very heard for all of us to select the particular project but then I came up with idea that everyone shall choose 2 project names and first will get 5 points and second one will get less points. Through this way we selected the project with majority of votes. I was glad we selected the Solar system project cause we already put the idea of solar roofs in previous mini project and now we could build up the entire housings plan. This project can cover more than 20 solar based houses and recreational clubs. The major feature of this project was that the houses are independent of conventional electricity as they have electricity generated by using solar roofs moreover they have a backup source which can be used to deliver solar energy to other cities in emergency. Recreational centers and shopping centers are other associated features of our project. Unlike previous project this major project does include capital expenditure request. The purpose of this Capital Expenditure Request (CER) is to request funding approval for the construction of the project. I started on working of work break down structure, gantt chart and budget
My proposal was this site is to develop a community center This could be a social place where individuals come and hang out. There could be an adolescent focus as well and events that can be arranged for all people to come and participate in. This site is walkable and there are many individuals who stroll past this site to get to Angle Lake Park and so it would be advantageous for those individuals it is situated here. This project allowed me to discover different aspects of a city that I have lived in for years and have learned more about the elements that make up a city and I’m able to identify them. I also got the chance to gain skills on map making and learned how to make maps on different demographics in cities which was interesting. I have also learned about how the elements that are used to build the structure of a city and the importance of how people perceive the environment. The observer which are the people select, organize, and gives a meaning to what’s being seen while the environment suggests characterizes and relations. In addition to that, I learned that cities should be built for the people and be a place where all people could live in comfortably and meet most of their needs. There should be more demand for public space for pedestrians, not for cars. Communities are created when people mingle with each other, which is an important part of the urban environment.
Nick Carraway often wears white and knows himself to be the most honest person he has ever known. Carraway wore white in attendance at Gatsby’s parties (Yaffe). It also seems to be Daisy’s color in the novel as she wears a white dress to meet Gatsby for the first time. “They were both in white and their dresses were rippling and fluttering as if they had just been blown back in after a short flight around the house” (Fitzgerald 12). This explains the infatuation that Gatsby is so fond of since Daisy always wore white from five years ago in their past relationship. This color portrays that Daisy is innocent, pure, and beautiful to the readers
Although Tom Buchanan regards himself as a manly-man, he is still quite jealous of Jay Gatsby and picks on his clothing to make himself feel better. “‘An Oxford man!’ He is incredulous. ‘Like hell he is! He wears a pink suit’” (129)! The quote shows that Gatsby wears some some strange ensembles that cause him to stand out, so people pay attention to him. These color choices aren’t random. Gatsby has clothes shipped in from other countries specifically to flaunt his wealth. His life had changed as he climbed the social ladder and so did his clothing. He went from ratty jeans to tailored suits made of the most expensive fabric and in the richest colors. As he adopted the phrase “old sport,”(97) he also wears fine clothing to make him seem refined. Throughout the book, Gatsby wears silver shirts and pink suits because they flaunt his wealth and cause him to stand
The school board is considering adding an hour and a half to the school day.The extra hour and a half would provide more instruction time and students . Teachers would also be able to create more interactive lessons with the extended time. There would be several benefits if the school board extends the school day by one and a half hours.
Also, he argues that our concept of the self is just a result of our natural habit of wanting to attach the existence to any collection of similar parts to make a whole. These are reasonable “anti-self” points to make, however besides these, Hume falls flat at presenting a compelling argument that isn’t filled with pure dislike for a substrate point of view. I do agree with Hume when he says that we have not “clear and intelligible” concept of self. It is true, when I try to describe what makes Langston well Langston, it’s really hard to do so without using perceptions. On the other hand, I firmly believe that one can’t be perceive without having a perceiver. It’s that simple you cannot read without a reader, listen without a listener,
Pride and Prejudice is told from a third person omniscient point of view and focuses on the main character, Elizabeth Bennett. Elizabeth is one of the five unmarried Bennett sisters and undoubtedly the most intelligent sister. When the rich, young man, Charles Bingley, comes to town, he choses to admire Jane Bennett. She is the most beautiful daughter of the Bennett family. Mr. Bingley’s friend, Mr. Darcy, creates an image of haughtiness in Elizabeth’s mind when he refuses to dance with her. However, as the story advances, Mr. Darcy finds himself attracted to her wit, intelligence, and subtle beauty. Elizabeth shows strong resentment towards Mr. Darcy although she is unknowingly falling in love with him. Both characters show strong characteristics of pride and prejudice throughout the novel, which keeps them apart. Furthermore, due to Darcy’s perceived arrogance and Elizabeth’s stubbornness and prejudice, they face many predicaments with themselves and each other. In the end, Elizabeth and Darcy put aside their differences and see past each other’s flaws. They both realized that they want to spend the rest of their lives with each other (Austen 1-397).
