School Reflection Paper

As a young student, I went to several different schools, both public and private. I went from schools with populations ranging from 50 students to 2,000. Class sizes varied, depending on the amount of kids in school with me. I can recall my smallest class size as 16, and my largest class size as 35. All these different environments helped to shape my understanding of schools and develop my philosophy of education. Both school and teaching is about growing, learning and changing together. My understanding of school comes from 15 years of going to school and experiencing it first hand. As I got older, and technology progressed, more computers were added to my learning experience. For example, when I was in third grade, our class had the first classroom computer, there was now two computers available for the students and for the teacher. In fourth grade, my school received its first computer lab; a classroom set of computers for the whole school. Once a semester, each class was given a day to use the computers for learning. Of course, as technology rapidly changed and became more vital, computer labs were added to my school district. In middle school, fifth through eigth grade, 3 computer labs were accessible to classes. Although class sets of computers were scarce, each teacher had their own personal laptop and a projector in the room, much like we have today. When I got to high school, a world was shifting from flip phones to smartphones and thus, large computer desktops were replaced with laptops. In my freshman year of high school, I went to a school with 6 computer labs, and a school set of laptops. In my sophomore year, we had upgraded to two sets of laptops.
