Life of School Psychology
A school psychologist plays many roles in their careers. They are someone to talk to in comfort for students, they help parents understand their child better and their diverse learning needs, and they are a helpful confidant to teachers. School psychologists are very important for school because they are trained to handle the difficulties of diversity among children and their learning needs. The most important role a school psychologist plays is to help students succeed and feel confident in whom they are.

To become a school phycologist you must first earn your bachelor’s degree, most school psychologist major in education or psychology (Stinnett, T. A., Bui, L., & Capaccioli, K. 2013). After completing a bachelor’s degree a graduate program is essential. A graduate program helps students reach a Master’s degree, Education Specialist degree, Master of Education, and a Doctorate (O'donnell, P. S., & Dunlap, L. L. 2014). School psychologists evaluate students whom may have a disability as a part of their method in deciding what students are eligible for special services. A school psychologist conducts an emotional, intellectual, and mental series to conclude the students level of academic potential (Splett, J. W., Fowler, J., Weist, M. D., McDaniel, H., & Dvorsky, M. 2013). To diagnose a student school psychologist have to go by the the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). The DSM offers a standard criterion for the classification of mental disorders (American Psychiatric Association. 2012). After the school psychologist diagnoses the student, they have to think of a way to resolve the issues the disorder may bring them in school. The school psychologist bring positive learning environments to students from all diverse backgrounds, help teachers establish a effective way of teaching the students, and school psychologist’s deliver psychological services that endorses a healthy environment.
