On Tuesday before class started, we had a group meeting concerning our oral presentation. Most of us have met a week earlier to discuss what we were going to talk about during the presentation. We put it together on PowerPoint and quickly went over all the slides. One thing I learned about our group is that some of us tend to shy away when doing presentations in front of the class. Voluntarily I wouldn’t go up, depending what the topic is and if I knew much about it. If I prepare for it, I don’t mind doing it. Communication is very important when working in groups. This is what keeps most of them together. Communication wasn’t a problem in our group because most of us knew each other. Some of the members I do not usually communicate to because they aren’t in my class while a few are. Sometimes when people are communicating, I find that there is a language barrier between us where I might not be sure what they are saying. If this happens, I usually just tell that I didn’t catch what they said if and if they can repeat it. At other times, it can be just my listening skills. Although we didn’t have a long meeting, we practiced just reading the slides to each other. Because we each worked on our own part of the presentation, we had to explain to each other what we did and what information we are presenting so that everyone in the group is familiar. For that reason, our group struggled to continue a conversation. Certain people in my group did not take part in the conversation, and I believe myself and two others controlled the entire discussion. Additionally, one other member contributed little and did not present any statements to completely answer a question. Other groups struggled with the same situation. Instead of debating over a certain topic, we tended to agree with each other and then exhaust our concepts that related to the specific question that was asked.

I am the person who talks to the people in the grocery store line and leaves by having already given a verbal dissertation on my life or viewpoint. In Physical Education it is key, I not only have to show visually the movements and actions but verbalize and communicate the sequences for students to use as guidelines for success. If my communication is not clear I had a bank of different word approaches to get through to students if it must be differentiated for them. I felt very nervous prior to the session beginning. I get anxious speaking in front of groups of people, and I was fearful I would say the wrong thing, or not follow the Solution-Focused plan correctly. I was also thinking about what may happen and how the clients would react, and what they would say as the conversation progressed. However, after a few minutes, I started to feel more relaxed, and forgot about the classroom full of people who were watching me. I started to feel like I was in a real session with real clients, and my gut feelings just started to take over my nervousness.

To some people, sin is saying Gods name in vain, it may be fighting with your family or even just a simple white lie. Everyone has a different interpretation of what sin means and which are greater sins than others. In The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, each character exhibits sin at some point, but they each find what they think is redemption for their sins. Throughout the novel, there are many examples of the relationship between sin and redemption. This relationship is shown amongst various characters. According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, an average American is typically consuming twice as much as the recommended daily allowance of protein. Many might know that overconsumption of protein in our daily diet will lead to high blood cholesterol, which will eventually cause heart disease. I believe that some people do not know how to modify or control their diet to lower the risk of having chronic disease. Therefore, I will inform my audience about protein in vegetables.

All three group members were present in the library to work on the presentation together and rehearse before the presentation. At the time of the conflict. I was confused as to why the group member who didn't agree with the final product and the direction in which the presentation went did not voice her opinions or disagreements. From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. I felt that I had a lot to improve on for non-verbal communication. Eye contact was sufficient in general, but could have been more focused to bring across the points stronger. I felt that my hand gestures were not quite appropriate at times (excessive pointing at students). My standing posture was also rather stiff. I believe I should work on and improve my non-verbal communication with more practice.
There are so many reasons to support this school bond, including the list of critical repairs or improvements it will make to our insufficient facilities. If these problems were occurring in our own homes most of us would say, “We need to fix this!” Why should we then accept it in our schools?
It was made clear in our first seminar that there would be group presentations in the subsequent seminars and everybody would be given the chance to speak. This was to ensure that at the end of year, we would not be having any stuttering problems or major tension in facing the class during our presentation week. I realized along the way, that this not only helped me improve my presentation skills but it helped me get closer to the subject marketing. What I feared was so temporary; before long I enjoyed my marketing class more. I looked forward to those group activities, in which we were given time to converse, to find out about each other and also to know what exactly we were learning. It was through these activities I understood the subject more intensely.
