My contribution to the UIC Honor College community will include but not limited to community services, innovative research, acquire hands-on experience, and apply what I studied in class to real-life scenarios to make an impact on people’s lives. I have been in my School Honors Program since the sixth grade and understand that being in the honors college means more than just being academically advanced. I will bring qualities such as leadership, character, and service to the honors college community. These qualities are not foreign to me as I have demonstrated them throughout my school years. I have volunteered to tutor classmates who have struggled with their homework. I provided guidance and encouragement to classmates who struggle to maintain …show more content…
their grades. I am an excellent team player, and I always motivate people around me to do their best because I want everyone to succeed. Furthermore, being an honors student, I have joined organizations such as National Honor Society (NHS) and French National Honor Society (FNHS) where we participated in community service to raise money for Red Cross. I also volunteered in humanitarian organizations such as “Feed my Starving Children” and at the local Children’s Upscale Resale events. Through these events, I have shown excellent character, responsibility, and leadership. I will be a great asset to the UIC Honor College community with seven years of School Honors program experience, excellent academic background, community service experience, dedication to help others and my positive attitude towards life. Throughout my middle and high school, I have always taken accelerated courses in math, reading, science, etc.
Honor courses taught me self-management and persistence but most importantly they taught me how to face a challenge. However this school year, I had four to five honors classes and was struggling, so I started asking for help. This was particularly prevalent when I leaped from pre-cal to AP Calculus BC. I visited my calculus teacher every morning before school start for help. Because of my hard work and persistence, my teacher nominated me for the “Student of the Term”. I visited my counselor for advice about college selection and realized that there are many additional resources available that are incredibly helpful, which is why I am applying for UIC Honors College. UIC Honors College will provide additional resources outside the classroom, such as advisor guidance and experienced premium faculty to mentor me, exceptional classmates to keep me focused, and facilities like computer labs, study rooms, and social lounges. Furthermore, I yearn to participate in an array of extracurricular opportunities such as interacting with UIC’s finest scholars to obtain the best education possible. Honors College will also assist my pursuit of UIC’s GPPA and my financial situation through merit and need-based scholarship. Additionally, I aspire to improve my social and communication skill to better deal with people in later years. I intend to find lifelong friends who will help me
in and out of class, who are supportive and serious about their career paths.
I am exceptionally grateful for this opportunity to possibly be a member of this very prestigious organization. Every day I work tremendously hard to be noticed by both other scholars and my teachers. Now that an opportunity has come, I am truly excited to demonstrate and live by the values of The National Junior Honors Society. I hope to further expose and show both my dedication and want to join arms with my community and my peers and I wish to continue to work with passion and fire to shape the world into a brighter place.
Admittance into the University of Georgia’s Honors Program would push me to continually test my potential in the pursuit of my Pre-Medical studies. I take pride in challenging myself to completely master a field of study that enhance my capabilities, and therefore, prepare myself to strive for my next goal in life. In order to grow into a better and improved self, one would need to test unfamiliar waters and reach new heights. The Honors Program ensures this growth by bringing in unaccustomed, rigorous, and beneficial material one cannot simply find in a traditional setting with their head in a textbook. Students are more able to grasp information through exploration and peer discussion which the Honors Program would provide. I believe that
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
When candidates are competing for an award, a job, or an honor, they often use the qualities of their character as evidence as to why they deserve it. I certainly understand and believe in the necessity of qualifications; however, I have also always believed that having a plan of what one will do with a certain honor is an integral part of deserving it. That is why this essay is not about my previous accomplishments. This essay is a declaration of my ideas to serve as a representative of Seton Hill University by making the community, state, and country a better place for all.
I plan to take advantage of every opportunity thrown my way, if selected to the honors program, including but not limited to study abroad trips, internships, and research. Throughout my time at the university, I would provide positive representation of the university and its honors program through my dedication to volunteer work. If accepted, during my spent in the honors program I would offer my time, motivation, leadership skills, dedication, and personal experiences to better the UGA community and
Being a part of Appalachian State University’s Honors College would be an amazing privilege. According to the university, the Honors College has been providing superior education to intellectually-motivated students for more than thirty five years. Being a part of the Honors College would help me promptly reach the personal, intellectual, and professional goals I set for myself as well as optimize my college experience.
College Admissions Essay If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there.
I have participated in the school’s marching band for four years has a member of the color guard. The last two years I have even earned a leadership position. From being in marching band, I have learned the ability to look for a bigger picture in things. For instance, something that may not seem clear now may take a true shape in time. I have also gained working experience through my two lifeguarding jobs from the last three years. I have learned how “size up” a situation and see how to properly deal with a problem. I have also learned, through both commitments, how to time manage myself and both achieve in activity/work and in school. I believe that through these experiences, I can bring a different perspective to the Honors Program’s community and help better it in any way possible.
Meanwhile, I would transfer to attend the University of Texas at Arlington. Once I start the school year, I am going to surround myself with young people, who are motivated, caring and determined, too successful in their academics as well as their personal lives. I want to strengthen my communication skills, study harder, and improve my time management skills. And maintain myself there to obtain my Bachelor Science Degree and can go deeper and higher level status in my career field. I choose to apply to this Honors Program, because I like to be challenged and I work hard for what I want to
Don't get me wrong; my parents never mandated that I take all the honors classes I could gain admission to. No one told me to take three honors classes. No one, that is, except the little voice in my head that convinced me scholarly success was based upon the number of "H's" on my high-school transcript. The counselors cautioned me not to do it, students who had fallen into the trap before warned me against it and my parents just left it up to me. Through it all, I just smiled and reassured them, "Don't worry; I can handle it." The trouble was, I didn't have the slightest idea what lay ahead.
I would translate this leadership experience into everything I did at the honors college. I am also a motivated academic student while balancing different extracurricular activities. I have maintained a 3.7 unweighted GPA while being a student manager of our girl's JV volleyball team and a member of our varsity boy’s volleyball team. The thing that I believe would help me contribute most to the Honors College would be my interest in the different programs provided. As a student with an engineering mind hearing about the Design Garage program through the Honors College interested me.
The first accomplishment I am most proud of is my acceptance into the Honors College of West Chester University. I could hardly contain my excitement when on a normal Saturday morning I received a call from Dr. Kevin Dean notifying me of my acceptance into the Honors College Program. On that day I became part of a small group of students who stood out above the rest of the incoming freshman class. From then on it would be my duty to bring pride to the University I solemnly
By participating in the University Honors Program, I have been required to go an extra mile with respect to my learning. Through extra research projects and additional assignments, I have gone over many concepts more in-depth and now I am able to analyze ideas in a more complex manner than before. Being an Honors student at the University has also helped me know more about important issues that surround me. Through the forums offered by the program I have learned about topics that are in nothing related to my major, which has expanded my view of the world.
The honor system is an essential part in a school district’s mission statement. An honor system gives a student what he/she needs to be successful in life. It teaches the student’s to be respectful, responsible, reliable, and gives the students good morals. From an honor system a student also learns what is right from wrong. Without an honor code, students wouldn’t learn anything, and get the essentials they need.
