The song ‘Save Rock and Roll’ was written by Fall Out Boy members Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump with creative assistance from Elton John, who sings the track with the band. The song was released on April 12, 2013 on the album ‘Save Rock and Roll’ by the band Fall Out Boy. The album was the first released after the bands three year hiatus, which is important to some of the songs lyrics. Bassist Pete Wentz said in an interview with Billboard Magazine that he wrote the song to add some variations in main stream music, and that he imagined the headlines as saying that they ‘saved rock and roll,’ which is where the title of the album came from.
The purpose of this message is to entertain people, but make them think about it. I can tell from the meaningful lyrics and various things the members have said in interviews. The lyrics are fun to listen to, but they also have a deeper meaning that is harder to understand, which is that kids need to keep fighting to not conform to mainstream standards and stay unique.
Some creative techniques used in this song are soft dynamics that quickly change to loud to give the audience a suspenseful feeling, and a varying tempo that casts a feeling of confidence that helps relay the deeper message to keep fighting to be unique.

The background music is a repetitive track during the verses that gives a feeling of warmth that helps people understand the message and allows the listener to listen to the words more. The music stops on certain notes so what Stump is singing becomes the only thing heard so you are forced to understand the message. The meaning of this message is to stand out from the crowd and don’t try to fit in to all the trends.
The lyric ‘Whoa, how'd it get to be only me? Like I'm the last kid still kicking, that still believes.’ references the fact that so many people are trying to be who they’re not. ‘An oath of silence for the voice of our generation.’ This lyric demonstrates the fact that kids are trying so hard to fit in, they are losing the ability to be unique in an attempt to follow the trends. The deeper meaning is to never succumb to the pressure modern day society threatens kids with. ‘In a world full of the world yes, I’m here to scream no.’ Be the person that screams ‘no,’ and don’t fall into the trap society sets for
you. The target audience of this media message is teenagers, to try and help them avoid becoming another person caught in the trap that society is and losing their independent voice. I can tell this by the phrasing in the lines most commonly referencing teenagers. ‘Like I’m the last kid still kicking that still believes,’ this lyric is an example of how the song demonstrates that teenagers should be unique. I think this song breaks sterotypes because the song is literally about breaking out of stereotypes placed on you by other people. This song is an example for breaking stereotypes in the way the lyrics tell the listener to be unique and not conform to any expectations placed upon you by society. The song tells you to break free of stereotypes, which is an excellent message for teenagers to be told. Someone different might interperet this message offensively if they had become a part of society and lost their uniqueness, it could be seen as something meant to target them when in reality it is an effort to make people like them break free of the steroetypes and regain their independent voice. This song could be understood by people of all ages, because societies expectations are not only limited to teenagers, but to all generations.
On the surface the message is don’t be afraid to be different . The story is told from the perspective of Joy Harjo , which allows the reader to know that the memoir was written with real life experiances .
It was released in April 2005 as the lead single from their second album, From Under the Cork Tree (2005). With the music composed by lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stumpand all lyrics penned by bassist Pete Wentz, it was the bands first top 10 hit and it launched there career. In an interview with Rolling Stone that he slurred the lyrics in the chorus on purpose to make it sound better and he wanted the song to be a fun punk song. During the writing of the song, the band made 30 changes to it. He said that he saw the lyrics first time he sung it out loud and it sounded excellent so he came up with the rest. I have chosen this song because it brings back so so many significsant memories in my life, such as the first time my family went to America, this song was played almost 5 times every day on the radio. It is also a very lively, energetic song that can turn a frown upside-down in a second. Even when I am having a horrible day, when I get home and listen to this song it makes my day so much better and always brings a smile to my face. This song tells you that you must never give up without a fight and I believe that , that is a excellent morale to sing
This song became the perfect background for PSA's. Maybe, after all, there was more to this band than sexuality and drugs. This album has a bit of each of the necessary elements to become a hit. In fact, it has. much more than that.
The live concert uses the sonata form to maintain the intense atmosphere through the contrasting themes. In the exposition the main theme is in a quick and loud upbeat tempo. The second theme is in a lower key and is at a slower pace, which helps create dramatic moments as the tempo changes from quick to slow. The bridge decrescendos into the development and creates a calmer atmosphere. The development then explores both themes in a slower and lower
The relevance of the song was portraying that using drugs and alcohol will help you escape life situations. Regardless of how hard or tough it is. All you need to do is to get drunk or get high, than your problems will flush away. But the video don’t explain the reality of the outcome of how drugs and alcohol will or could affect your lifestyle and how it could lead you to lose your job, family and life. All it shows is the fun side of being intoxicated. Which, it raises a big flag on kids or teens that do have access to the media like the
The constantly growing and changing world is trying its best to sway and alter the minds of the common people by using as many influential platforms possible from ads on television, entertainment in the theaters, politics in the government, to music on the radio. The Dave Matthews Band sings about either issues in life or in love. To find a song that correlates to individualism is not a surprise. When singer Dave Matthews performs the song "Drunken Soldier" live, he puts an emphasis on the lyrics "Don't waste time trying to be something you're not/ Fill up your head/ Fill up your heart/ And take your shot/ Don't waste
These teens actually get to see what it is like to have someone bigger than them up in their face yelling. These teens have the mindset that they are too cool to go to school, and usually get involved in some sort of delinquent act such as drugs, stealing or joining gangs. “The first quote you hear from the girl in the video is “I should have smoked a blunt before I came” this was while they were on their way to an adult correctional facility (Daily motion, 2015).” This quote just comes to show you how cool these kids really think they are. The officers told the students the truth....
These lyrics send a message of how at first he was being someone who he wasn’t but then eventually found out who he actually was. He grew up living in a society where a person couldn’t be their own individual self and everything was done collectively. He never knew about individualism because of the fact he’s been in a collective environment. After learning about the Unmentionable Times and the forbidden word “I”, he knew at that moment who he really was. “I tried to be someone else/ I know now this is who I really am inside,” are two lines that can be used that momen...
As he belts out what seem to be rhythmic, artless words, a look deeper shows the complexity behind it all. These melodic lyrics contain confrontational messages while creating an unforgettable anthem for the teenage population. Exhilaration runs through the veins of the lyrics sung by Townshend, creating a feeling of excitement. It encourages listeners to cave in to their urge to jump up and down along with the beat of the music, in only a way rock ‘n’ roll music can. The higher-pitched vocals that sing Talkin’ bout my generation give listeners a break from the commanding voice of Townshend.
In essence, this song carries various sociological concepts. It concentrates on the main idea about the social construction of reality and talking about how reality is changing. The song questions the actions and mentally of individuals violating the norms and values of society. The band takes into consideration various factors of why it is happening including the media and religion. As a result they talk about such influences taking control building and developing a sense of self. This is a great song about present day problems and how society changes with them.
In this song The Fray takes great effort to convey the point of talking with the youth of today about making the correct decisions that will have a large affect upon one's life. Although the song in no way forces the narrators thoughts and ideas upon the youth they still firmly instill the knowledge of his choices impact on his future. Ideally this would be a guideline, an alarm of hope, a script on how to one day "save a life."
The song is interesting because reading the lyrics, listening to the song, and watching the music video all give different meanings about the song. Reading the lyrics suggests that the song is a depressing story about the inner turmoil the writer is feeling and how he is not sure what to do with his life. But after listening to this upbeat and happy song, it seems like it may not be as dreary as it seemed at first. After watching the music video the message can be reinterpreted to be about the internal conflicts of a soldier fighting in a war and he does not know what he is fighting for. The fact that the music completely changes how the lyrics are interpreted is interesting. Nate uses many literary techniques to make this song mysterious and open to interpretation depending on how it is experienced.
The strongest part of the song is where it says, “I keep my toes on the party line/ There is nothing wrong dear, don’t think twice”. In conclusion, the concept that propaganda is a brainwash becomes clear. The government changes the way that reality looks by altering the past, using pure power and propaganda.
While writing this composition, Dana Wilson included three different movements: “To Smash the Night”, “To Break This Shadow”, and “Into a Thousand Lights of Sun.” To Smash the Night had a varied tempo. In some instances, the song slowed before becoming faster again. It is also noteworthy that the three percussion pieces complemented each other in tone variation and rhythm. In another section of the song, the piano seemed to wait for the clarinet and the violin while in another, the clarinet and violin followed the piano’s lead. In the end, the musical dynamics changed to a crescendo, creating a colorful texture of music that brought out a joyful feeling in the listener. To Break This Shadow is a slow-paced piece of music that was full of sadness. However, it also varied in tempo while still calming the mind of the listener with relative ease. Also, the piano took precedence in this piece with a pattern that was varied from the clarinet. Finally, Into a Thousand Lights of Sun was fast, with a lot of coordinated tonal variations that created a gradual change in texture. All of these pieces are dynamic in their own way. Their varying crescendos and subtleties are what make each of them different from one another. In the end, they all elicited feelings of happiness within the audience by employing a lot of soothing
...ced technology, it is possible for the generational trust gap to come to an end. This trust gap has existed for over fifty years, and was recognized over forty years in the song “My Generation,” by The Who. The lyrics of this song are written from the point of view of a member of the youth. In this way, the song critiques the older generation of their condescending opinions towards the youth of the world. The song writer makes the point that the youth is attempting to stand up for what is right, yet it is difficult to take a stance when the world’s leaders only push against the youth. This song has been powerful propaganda in expressing the troubles of the youth. Songs from varying time periods in the history of the world are able to share their critiques on society and it is fascinating when a song written in a former generation still relates to society today.
