On December 14th, 2012 at 9:35 A.M., at Sandy Hook Elementary School, there was reportedly a mass shooting that killed 20 children between the ages of six and seven as well as six adult staff members. Now even though tragedies like this one sadly happen quite often in America, I believe that the government stages some of them. The reason why the government would stage such an event is to distract the public from other issues that the government is having at that time. The reason why the government staged this particular shooting is so that they can push to have greater gun control and promote more anti-gun laws. Now that it’s been 4 years since the reported shooting happened, everyone is just saying that it is water under the bridge. But …show more content…
In a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) like Sandy Hook, the proper protocol is START (Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment) using tarps of different colors with the aim being to save lives and get the injured to the hospital. Drill protocol set forth by the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) of the US Department of Homeland Security is different than an emergency protocol because everyone at the drill must check in, identification badges are issued to personnel and observers, and drinking water and restrooms are available. Reports show that was all required and done at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Another thing that can be proven is that there was foreknowledge of the shooting happening. Tweets about the shooting were being posted before it even occurred and even one month before the shooting, a Facebook page was made called, R.I.P. Victoria Soto, a “victim” in the Sandy Hook Shooting. Its things like that raise a lot of questions on how the people who were posting all over social media about it knew that the shooting was going to occur.

Mike Powers, a professional military investigator, and ballistics experts, observed that a man of this small of build and of that maybe disorders, could not have carried that much weaponry and ammunition. Powers also states that Lanza could not have fired so many rounds in that short of time without destabilizing himself from the intense noise from the Bushmaster due to his Asperger syndrome. It was also proven that Adam Lanza’s DNA was not found at the crime scene in the school, or on the vehicle that was holding the weapons for the crime. Lauren Rouseassu’s, a substitute teacher at Sandy Hook, DNA was would found on the rifle grip and multiple magazines maybe proving that she was just handed the gun and told to place it somewhere within the
The information Is backed up by many statistics and laws that have been proved true by many sources. Matt Bennett is cofounder and senior vice president of Third Way, an organization devoted to develop stricter gun laws. The source has mainly facts describing causes and effects of the Sandy Hook shooting. This article was written in 2013 but the same issues brought up in the article are still around
According to Blitzer’s Rhetorical Situation the main components in a speech are looking for a fitting response, an audience that’s listening, constraints and a rhetorical response. (Bitzer, 1968) The speech that I used to illustrate what Bitzer’s rhetorical situation was the speech President Obama gave about the shooting that took place in Connecticut, at the Sandy Hook Elementary school. The school shooting took place on December 14th, 2012. A twenty-year-old man by the name of Adam Lanza shot and killed twenty-six people then killed himself; Adam Lanza killed twenty children and six adults. In this speech, I will tell you Obama’s exigence, audience, constraints, and fitting response.
The tragedy that happened in Newton, Connecticut swept the world with a variety of emotions. Many individuals became angry or saddened by the tragedy. I think more of the individuals were angry of what happened to those 20 innocent children. Parents send their children to school thinking that they are safe but in this case ended in tragedy. I am going to discuss similarities and differences between two articles. I am also going to discuss how this shooting is a symbolic crime, how likely policy changes will be enacted and how unlikely they are to be enacted.
Sandy Hook Shooting Conspiracies On December Fourteen 2012 Adam Lanza allegedly drove to Sandy Hook Elementary, his old elementary school, and shot and killed twenty-six students and faculty, then turned the gun on himself before apprehension by police. The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was a tragic event, it’s hard not to sympathize with the families of those killed. There is a movement, however, that claims the shooting was fake (Spaeth). IT’s believed the shooting was staged in order to pave the way for stricter gun control (Salazar).
The columbine massacre the day where no one is safe in school or out of school. The columbine massacre is about two students named Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris both seniors 17 years old both two weeks before graduating they killed 12 students, one teacher, and 21 injured to their shooting on April 20, 1999. Both Dylan and Eric were some believe they were bullied by the sport teams in their school so they planned to kill the people who bullied them and other mostly anyone who gets in their way but that wasn’t really why the FBI he said that there target was everyone no one in pacify we will not get in to more details now. Dylan and Eric were both intelligent boys with solid parents and a good home and both had brothers younger than them. They played soccer, baseball, and both enjoyed to work on computers. Both boys were thinking on commit suicide on 1997 but instead started to plan a massacre in 1998 a year before it happened. Then the two boys had got into some trouble for breaking into a van on January 30, 1998 trying to steal some fuses and wires for bombs for them to make, but they got caught in trouble. So the court put them in a program called the juvenile diversion program, but even if they were there they were still planning the massacre and the court also put Eric in some angry management classes and people believe it worked but it didn’t he just did it to look like it work and both boys made it look like they were really sorry but they weren’t. Dylan and Eric both really hated everyone in their school and the court as well after they got caught breaking in to that van that’s when they really started to plan the massacre more and that’s when Harris started he’s journals no one really knows way but they didn’t hate a hand...
This event has been thoroughly dissected by a whole herd of politicians and pundits over a period of some months. But they have, unfortunately, failed to reach the heart of the matter.
...e can finally put some of the missing puzzle pieces together. Such as the motives Adam Lanza had for the shootings, and why he targeted children. Also with a little knowledge about how school shootings/violence is increasing every day. We can see how most of these shootings are always relating about the same motives, bulling. Understanding the characteristics of the shooters and the causes of most school violence/shootings can help us look for signs and hopefully stop the tragedy before it happens. As a future teacher, I know what kind of signs to look for in my students or people in general to help them before an event like the Sandy Hook happens again. Hopefully the government will come to a complete choice about gun laws and we can start to see some kind of different on their end. However, this issue needs to be focused more on for us to start seeing a decrease.
Crime manifests itself in various ways in society and oftentimes difficult to pinpoint what drives people to commit certain actions. The Columbine shooting was a particular incident that ended in tears and suffering which resulted in numerous research as to what was going through the minds of these young individuals at the time of the shooting. Therefore, this paper will analyze specifically the role of differential association- reinforcement as altered by Akers in propelling Dylan Klebold to commit such heinous act, while also giving credit to Edwin Sutherland for first formulating the framework of differential association.
The United States will not soon forget the rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut that came just two weeks before Christmas last year. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of twenty students and eight adults. Although the event shocked the nation, the rampage shootings are nothing new. Over the years, many families have lost loved ones to these horrific events. As a result, these mass shootings such as the one that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary caught public attention, leading to a push to find the cause of these events.
School shootings seemed like a new phenomenon, but they occurred for the majority of American history. The first school shooting occurred On July 26, 1764, when a Lenape Indian shot and killed nine children and the school master of the Greencastle, Pennsylvania school (Galvin): as noted in Appendix A. Since 1764, the number of school shootings rose exponentially. In the 1990’s, eighty-six school shootings occurred and between 2000 and 2014, 110 shootings transpired since 2000 (Killam,2008). The development of semiautomatic weapons lead to an increase in deaths. A study conducted in 1990 found through the years of 1986 to 1990; 71 people died, 201 wounded, and 242 people held hostage by school shooters(Galvin). While the area a school serves as one factor in the number of violent acts committed per year, school shootings have not been connected to this. The schools in Chicago dealt with more violent acts, but Sandy Hook Elementary, a small city school had relatively few violent acts committed by students.

From 1980’s till now, there are has been many school shootings. Many researchers have made many hypotheses as to why these occur. The most tragic shooting took place in Sandy Hook Elementary. 2. I believe that we should prevent shootings from happening in schools because schools are meant to be a safe education environment for students and faculty. There are many ways that school shootings can be prevented and the two most important ones are hiring more school security officers and having counselors help out troubled kids.
There are many different types of school violence. The one that gets the most public attention is school shootings. The term school shooting is basically defined as an act where a student, school staff member, or intruder from the outside commits an act on the school campus. One of the most well known school shootings took place at Columbine High School near Littleton, Colorado. On a Tuesday April 20,1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students at Columbine High School, took the lives of thirteen other students before taking the lives of their own. When we think of events like this, we have many questions that go through our mind. Thoughts like why did this happen, could it have been prevented, and how did impact the individuals involved just to name a few. There are probably several more thoughts that go through the minds of a nation when we hear about traumatic evens such as a school shooting.
passed in the Senate requiring background checks for sales at gun shows but it failed to pass in the House. Another student that attended school at Virginia Tech is responsible for the current most deadliest shooting at a school. This student killed 32 classmates with two handguns he legally purchased. A year after this tragedy, background checks were changed to include millions of more people, specifically the mentally ill and felons. This was the first major change to gun laws in the United States in more than ten years (Bingham 3). Although these events are well known and are extreme, they have not caused major changes to gun control laws throughout history.
Mass shootings have become a common occurrence in the United States society and have brought our society's safety debate to the attention of American politics. Both sides of the debate agree that we need more safety precautions but neither side can officially agree on what is to be done. What can we do about the raging number of mass shootings? There is no definite solution for mass shootings but there are precautions the United States can take to try to overcome the overwhelming number of mass shootings occurring. Gun Control is a major topic in the debate of how we can keep our society safer but how is what remains a mystery but we can start with altering the second amendment, and having stronger gun laws and background checks.
