The San Jose Sharks have been a team in the NHL (National Hockey League) since 1991. They were the first franchise to be based in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have won the division title for their team seven times throughout the years.
They had a lot of success in their early years. When they had gotten a new coach, Kevin Constantine, the Sharks had pulled off the biggest turnaround in NHL history. They had finished the season with a 33-35-16 record.
They made the playoffs with 82 points, which they jumped up with 58 points from the previous season. They were going up against the Detroit Red Wings and were up by a game almost the whole time. They lost to the Red Wings in the final game of the round. After those years the next big time

for the Sharks was when they drafted Patrick Marleau in 1997. Patrick Marleau has been an asset to the San Jose Sharks ever since 1997.
He is still playing for the San Jose Sharks to this day. Patrick has an outstanding record for the sharks. He has a total of 510 goals 574 assists which equals out to 1,082 points in his San Jose career. Patrick is 37 years old and still an amazing player for the sharks. Although he is reaching the age where most NHL players would stop playing.
Most players stop playing at around age 40-44 depending on health. Patrick has been thinking about what he will do after his hockey career and he is gonna try and be a coach for the sharks. He will get paid a little more than what he did when he played. The Sharks are a NHL team that tend to pay about the same as normal teams do.
The San Jose Sharks have an annual salary for the whole team and it has been decreasing every few years. This is due to because of the lack of fans and the team is losing popularity. The Sharks finished their 2016-2017 season not to hot. The sharks made it to the play off but lost in the first round (2-4) to the Edmonton Oilers. They are still a very good team for even making it to the play off’s. Although the Sharks had a good regular season they could have done better and tried harder in the play
off’s. They are getting a few new training coaches this summer for dryland and to try and get them in shape and better foot and hand skills. The 2017-2018 season/team is expected to have more agility, strength, and strategy. The San Jose Sharks have a special entrance that no other hockey team has. When they enter the ice they have a shark that they skate through after each name is said through the sound system the shark makes a loud noise and the eyes of the shark glow red and have a steamer that goes after the noise. All in all the sharks have a bright and hard working future and the team has lots of hope in them.
Not long after Gretzky arrived, the franchise closed its doors and sold its young asset to the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. “In the fall of 1979, Gretzky embarked on his first full NHL season As he had at every other level, he quickly started to dominate the competition, racking up an astonishing 51 goals and 86 assists, on his way to winning the league's Hart Memorial Trophy, an award recognizing its most valuable player,” (“Wayne Gretzky Biography”). It was the first time in history a first-year player had ever been honored with the award. Gretzky went on to win the Hart Memorial Trophy nine more times over the span of his career. To this day, he still holds the record for the most times that specific award has been given to an individual (Getz).

Fortunately for the NHL, they had/ have the Chicago Blackhawks, the Franchise to bring hockey back. The Chicago Blackhawks started the 2012-2013 series with a 24 point streak, meaning that they went 24 games with at least 1 point gained in each game. As many people don’t pay attention until the season has hit 20 or so games, the Hawks, had come to break the lockout of that particular attention span causing more attention towards not only the NHL , but for the Blackhawks themselves. As fans joined the progressing bandwagon, the NHL was gratefully coming out of the “drought” with numourus sponsorships with companies, and gaining profit from their
