The artist I choose was Samuel Timothy McGraw born May 1st, 1967. He was raised in Louisiana in a tiny town in Richland Parish. The town was called Delhi. McGraw is fifty years old. McGraw is the only child he is a country singer. McGraw spent a good deal of time on the road in the can of Smith’s 18 wheeler. He would sing along to country artist like: Charley Pride, George James. McGraw also would sing in his church and he was in school plays in elementary school. An influence of McGraw’s was his stepfather, his name is Smith. McGraw called him his “Real Dad”. As a child McGraw played competitive sports, including Baseball, even before knowing about his real dad who was a pro baseball player. After high school graduation McGraw attended Northeast Louisiana University on a baseball scholarship. McGraw was also in a frat. boy group. McGraw sustained a knee injury while playing baseball for college this kept him from going professional in the sport. During college, McGraw learned to play Guitar, and would frequently perform for money. He claimed his roommates often hid his guitar because he was so bad. McGraw followed his mom when she returned to Jacksonville Florida in 1989, on the day Tim’s hero Keith Whitley died, McGraw dropped out of college to head to Nashville and pursue a Music Career. …show more content…

In 1989 McGraw signed with Curb Records. In 1990 he released his debut album. 1993 He releases his first number one single, “Indian Outlaw” this album inspired a new dance craze among country listeners. The “Indian Outlaw” was not meant to be insulating and a few protests the company received have come mainly from the Cherokee Nation based in Tahlequah. The impact McGraw has on music is extremely good McGraw can make you feel what he is feeling through his music. pop. McGraw has released fourteen studio albums eleben for “Curb Records”, and three for “Big Machine Records. Ten of the albums reached number one on the “Top Country Album Chart. Three of the singles “It’s Your Love”, “Just to See You Smile”, and “Live Like You Were Dying”, these were on the top country songs of 1997, 1998, and 2004. McGraw ventured into acting with playing supporting roles in “The Blind Side”. He was also a minority owner of the Arena Football League’s Nashville Kats. McGraw has this talent where he can pick up a guitar and when he sings you know how he feels, and what he thinks. McGraw has won many, many awards a few of his awards he has won: Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year, Academy of Country Music Award for Video of the Year, and Academy of Country Music for Single Record of the Year, and many more. McGraw has earned all of his awards because, he has worked very hard to get where he is today.
The “king of Western swing,” Bob Wills, was a prominent figure from the 1930s through 1950s. At at a young age he learned to play the fiddle and he and his father performed at dances and other social gatherings. He was exposed to other genres of music as a young boy such a blues, conjunto and mariachi, but it was the new sounds of jazz that inspired him to experiment with traditional country music. In 1929 Wills moved to Fort Worth, Texas, were he formed a band, the Wills Fiddle Band, which would soon change to Light Crust Doughboys. Their music was played was played on the Fort Worth radio station, KFJZ radio, and their unique sound quickly spread which is what the radio advertisers needed during the economic downfall. However, in 1933 Wills left the band and formed a new one called Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and they toured together over the next forty years. In 1945 Wills appeared at the Grand Ole Opry and insisted that there be a horn and drum section on stage. The audience was surprisingly pleased with this unwanted change by the directors. Despite his somewhat strained relationship with Nashville, the local country music establishment formally recognized Wills and his important overall impact on country music when the Country Music Association Hall of Fame inducted him in 1968 (Hartman, 146). Bob Wills died in 1975, but was still a major influence in up and coming young country artists like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Strait and Lee Ann Womack.
Scott Joplin, commonly known as the "King of Ragtime" music, was born on November 24, 1868, in Bowie County, Texas near Linden. Joplin came from a large musical family. His father, Giles Joplin was a musician who had fiddled dance music while serving as a slave at his master's parties. His mother, Florence Givens Joplin, born free and out of slavery, sang and played the banjo, and four of his brothers and sisters either sang or played strings.

The music industry during the 1940s was filled with many talented artists who impacted the music industry and the history of rock n’ roll forever. But one of the very well known and talented artists was Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly was the first to pioneer new music genres and progressive music. Charles Hardin Holley (1936-1959) was an American musician and artist whose creative career began in 1956. The family name is correctly spelled “Holley” but his first recording contract from Decca Records in 1956 spelled his last name “Holly” and he kept it that way for the rest of his career (Griggs 1). Holly took a very influential position in the music industry and built an audience for his Rock and Roll music very quickly due to his unique voice and advanced knowledge of music. Buddy Holly is a prime example of a musical pioneer who blended resources from various music genres including a variety of popular genres such as rhythm and blues (RNB), oriental, and African (Schinder and Schwartz 85).
At the age of nineteen years old Presley began his music performing at the “Hillbilly Cat.” After being discovered Presley signed with Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee in 1954. Then his contract was sold in 1955 to RCA Victor. His musical influences were a mix of multiple genres. He was influenced by gospel threw church; black R&B threw Beale Street in Memphis. He combined all the genres to create the early rock n roll that would arouse many people around the world.
Most americans have probably heard the phrase, “Mamas don’t let your babies to grow up to be cowboys.” That phrase is one from one of Waylon Jennings most prominent songs. Jennings was one of the many country music stars that started the outlaw country music movement. Outlaw country was not recognized by most country music enthusiasts but it soon took over and swept them off their feet. Jennings also incorporated rock into his music, which opened the door to a wide variety of genres and listeners. Waylon Jennings left an everlasting impression on country music which earned him a name as one of the greatest country music stars.

Hank Williams Jr as we know him was born Hank Randall Williams, born in small town Shreveport, Louisiana, on May 26, 1949. Hank Jr was only three when his father Hank died, but that did not stop his music dream. At just the age of 8 Hank Jr began singing his dad songs on stage. “Williams made his stage debut at the age of 8 and his first appearance at Nashville's famed Grand Ole Opry at age 11. T-Bone’s father and his mother, were both musicians who separated not long after T-Bone was born(“T-Bone”, n.p). T-Bone once said that his earliest memory was hearing his mother playing blues guitar on the front porch (“T-Bone”, n.p). Through his church choir and his street singing stepfather, T-Bone became interested in music. By the time he was 10, T-Bone was accompanying his stepfather at drive-in soft-drink stands (“T-Bone and Rock&Roll’, n.p). Johnny cash, the man in black is a country legend, him and the Tennessee two, made a name for themselves in the mid 50's. There orignal songs where gospil, but when trying to get a record deal was turned down for the gospil ,but then played a song Johnny cash wrote. The first hit was "Cry,Cry,Cry", other hits were " i walk the line","folsom Prison blues" , and others such as " man in black"" Hey Porter", and " get rhythm". Johnny cash marride his early wife Vivian Liberto in 1954, and moved to Memphis, Tennessee.His band The Tennessee two consited of Luther Perkins and bass player Marshall Grant.
