Sam Steinberg always followed ethical business approach and put emphasis on customer satisfaction. During Second World War, when all the business ventures increased the price of the goods produced using the opportunity of excess demand, Steinberg understood the situation of the buyers, their inability to purchase the goods at higher prices. In war times, there was lack of resources, jobs in the country. The economic situation was declining, which forced Steinberg to sell the products in low prices to all the customers. As the business expands, it will need more employees which will cause more employment for the outsiders. Now if the family members get highest priority and the outsiders are neglected then they will find no incentive towards their work. If the ineligible family persons are assigned an important post in the business it will cause inefficiency. The losing faith of other eligible employees, who are not the family members, will diminish the rate of profit generation of the business.

Hirschi’s Control Theory is a theory that states “that social control depends on people anticipating the consequences of their behavior”(Macionis 248). It was shown in the movie that Sam had a complicated relationship with his family, so his past is a big reason as to why he acts so deviant in the future. On of the four types of social control is attachment. Attachment is family, friends and school relationships. Sam was first introduced as one of Benny’s friends “crazy cousin”. It was clear that he did not enjoy having Sam around. This can reveal that Sam has a weak relationship with his family as a whole because he wasn’t even living with his parents. Involvement can mean many things, but it’s basically about holding a job, going to school, or participating in a sport. The character of Sam, as stated before, was kicked out of school. So, he didn’t have school keeping him away from deviant behaviors. And then there 's the reveal that Sam can’t write or read well. Sam had made an attempt to get a job at a movie store, but he would 've had to do an application, which required him to write. They monopolized the business and controlled the biggest market power, which are called trusts. Monopolies and trusts impacted American society politically, economically, and socially by eliminating the competition, controlling the government, and controlling the prices of supplies.
For this assignment, I used Walmart as an example for an organization that is a major player in the U.S. economy. They have been in operation since 1962, and their services are many, including retail, groceries, electronics, and home improvement. Walmart is considered the largest among all retailers, so it truly belongs to the retail industry. They do, however, face many challenges from industry competitors, such as Target, Big Lots, and Costco. Mr. Sam Walton (Walmart’s founder), however, has earned incredible success for Walmart in the retail market with an ever-expanding customer base. He started his business back in 1945 from a branch of Ben Franklin Stores, with a focus on selling products at lower prices to get higher-volume sales at lower-profit margins.
First, let’s take a look back at how the company got started. Sam Walton opened up the very first Walmart on July 2, 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. By 1967 the Walton family owned 24 stores ringing up $12.7 million in sales. In 1983 the first Sam’s Club was opened in Oklahoma. If you fast-forward to 1990 then Walmart becomes the world’s number one retailer. Sadly in 1992 Sam Walton passed away at the age of 74, but his legacy lives on as one of the greatest entrepreneurs to ever live.
