Sam Houston’s Most Heroic Decisions.

Have you ever had that feeling when you have to make a choice that not everyone is happy with? I have had that feeling before, like when I was going to choose where my family was going for lunch and what I decided my brother did not like. Sam Houston also had to do this many times on a bigger scale only the people who were not happy were the people of Texas.

When Sam Houston had his first term of being president of Texas he had to deliver an Inaugural address, and when he did the people of Texas did not like his stance on the Natives of Texas. Sam Houston had to make a decision for the people and that is what he thought was right. He trusted them and because other people lived in fear they wanted them out of Texas. This made Sam Houston very unpopular at the time and only because he had lived with them. When Houston’s term was up the next president Mirabeau Lamar was the exact opposite of him, he did not like Native Americans and when he chose to get rid of them the people were very happy and agreed because they wanted them to go away. When that happened he was against slavery so the states that liked slavery they wanted to leave and they did and in the process they made the Confederate States Of America and they tried to get Texas to join them.Sam Houston did not want to join them but the decision was made to join them. When Texas joined the Confederate States Sam Houston refused to take the oath of loyalty to the Confederate States, therefore they kicked him out of office and that was the end of his life in office. At the time Sam Houston was governor of Texas and when the time came for Sam Houston to take the oath of loyalty to the Confederate States Of America, he refused to do that and when he did he was forced to
