The character I have strong feelings about is Percy’s mother, Sally Jackson. Overall, I feel as if she’s under-appreciated because of the fact that she is selfless and devoted to her son. My feelings toward her are appreciation and devotion. Sally was able to raise Percy with a minimum wage job at a candy store and married a good-for-nothing, gambling, abusive man just to protect her son from his scent for the past 12 years. She had to live every day in fear knowing that her son could potentially die from other monsters and/or gods. Sally reminds me strongly of my own mother. They’re both optimistic, selfless, strong, and capable of living life on their own. In Sally’s relationship with Gabe, she tried to see the best things about him (which
Women nowadays are allowed to do everything that men can, but it was not always this way. In Geoffrey Trease’s Cue for Treason, Katherine Russell, a young lady in Elizabethan England plays the role of one of the protagonists who goes on an adventurous journey. Russell is a remarkable ambassador of equality for women because she is able, daring and intelligent.

In literature, a dynamic character changes significantly as a result of events, conflicts, or other forces. In the play, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Mary Warren, the young servant of the Proctor’s is a dynamic character. Throughout the play, Mary’s personality takes a turn for the better. At the beginning of the play, Mary is shy, timid girl who hides in the shadows of Abigail Williams and lets people walk all over her. As the play develops, Mary realizes that what Abigail is doing isn’t right and rebels against Abby. Instead of following Abby, she follows in the footsteps of John Proctor to bring justice to the girl’s accusing innocent people of witchcraft.
Percy’s relationship with other characters reveal a lot about who he is.The feelings with his mother is that there close. Percy feelings his dad is he thinks he’s a coward and Percy doesn't like his step father. Percy's feelings with his mom is that they are both close because in the text it says “But ever since, my mom went out of her way to eat blue. She baked blue birthday cakes. She mixed blueberry smoothies. She bought blue-corn tortilla chips and brought home blue candy from the shop. This—along with keeping her maiden name, Jackson, rather than calling herself Mrs. Ugliano—was proof that she wasn't totally suckered by Gabe. She did have a rebellious streak, like me.” This shows they are close because he calls her mom and cares about
Percy Jackson is a young demigod with almost no intention of trouble, it seems to follow him with an undying thirst to make his life miserable. For example in the first scene Percy's Mother's boyfriend, is the vice principal of a school. He decides to give Percy a chance despite the fact that Percy has been kicked out of every sch...
Leigh Anne sees that Michael is a good kid. He is caring, respectful, and protective. He loves his mom so much even though he knows she has her problems. He will always watch over her because he cares so much about her. He is also very respectful. He never asks for more food or more clothes or more of anything for that matter. One thing that stood out to me is that at Thanksgiving when the whole family sat on the couches to watch the game and eat, Michael sat politely at the dinner table just out of respect for his family. Finally, Leigh Anne sees that Michael is protective. He will do anything to protect the people he loves. For example with SJ in the car accident. Michael protected SJ from the air bags and saved SJ’s life. Also, when Michael and Leigh Anne went into the bad part of town he told her to just stay by him and he would protect her.
Percy Jackson is a true hero. Imagine if you had the chance to save your mother, but put your own life at risk. When Percy was given this chance, he never even thought about his own life. When he saved the world, he didn't care if he put his own life in immense trouble. When he met his half brother, he stood up for him, not caring if no one liked him after. It is clear that there is no way that Percy Jackson can be thought of anything but a hero, which is what he truly
A woman has always been told to act like a lady, to be proper, and to show manners. The history of women is being told through the books, actions, and through history. The role a woman is usually portrayed as pure and very welcoming. Will Cather created this character of Marian Forrester in her book “A Lost Lady” as a very high end woman that leaves an impression on anyone that meets Mrs. Forrester. Since in the pioneer day’s women where divided into to social classes like the upper division called the aristocrats, and then there was the lower division woman that did all the labor work. A lady is meant to be a wife and stand behind her husband and not question their role that a wife plays. The gender role played a key factor throughout the development of the identity of Mrs. Forrester. The way Mrs. Forrester
Success is a feat that is desired in any lifetime by anyone who wants to be something amazing in their time of living. Yet with success comes great sacrifice because in the work that is done and the time that it takes to do it sacrifices must be made in order to allow your time to be used as efficiently as possible.
Percy Jackson is the main character in this story, who is a demi god, who mortals are after. His name is short for Perseus and his father is one of the big three gods, Poseidon. He is suffering from dyslexia and ADHD, which could be deliberately added to the character by Riordan, to show he is meant to be a hero, and not to do well in school. This shows that school is not what he is good at, and he is destined to be a hero and save people. The character Grover, who plays Percy’s best friend, parallels a Satyr who is human from the waist up and goat from the waist down and is a companion of wine God, Dionysus, who we later learn, is the camp director for Half-Blood Camp.
This is a diagram that shows how Percy feels in different events of the story. If you look closely, you can see that Percy has more negatives than positives. Percy is only happy 8 times in the story out of 24, which means he is happy ⅓ of the story, not even half of the story. I can infer he isn’t happy because he enters a place he isn’t familiar with. In the book it says “We made it a hundred feet before we were hopelessly lost.” (Riordan, 94). This states how they lost hope in the labyrinth because of how wide the brain twisting maze is. Also, it stated “He was driven insane. He didn’t die.” (Riordan, 47). This states that a man was driven insane from the labyrinth. I can infer that this scares Percy a lot because he can lose sanity from
Lily Owens, white fourteen year old girl from Sylvan, South Carolina, in 1964, struggles with the fact that she accidentally shot her mother at a very young age which caused her mother Deborah to pass away. From that point on her father T. Ray ordered her around, basically didn’t allow her to do anything besides go to school and sell peaches for him. Likewise, when she misbehaves he makes her kneel on grits as punishment, Lily endures the pain because she's too afraid to speak up against the tyranny of her father. Despite the circumstance Lily has Rosaleen, African American woman who Looks after Lilly and takes care of the house, she finds comfort in Rosaleen and sees her as a mother figure. However, when Rolaen goes to vote one day she runs into trouble and ends up facing jail time, but Lily manages to get Rosalen when she is in the hospital recovering and runs away. Lily goes to an address she found on a photo that belonged to her mother, which leads her to the doorsteps of a pink house owned by a bee
Three days later, he wakes up in Camp Half-Blood, where Grover and Mr. Brunner - who is Chiron, the camp director – tell him that he is a demigod - half-mortal, half-god - but his godly parent is unknown. For this reason, he is sent to the Hermes cabin, which receives all the unclaimed demigods. During his time there, he befriends Luke, the cabin leader and son of Hermes, becomes an acquaintance of Annabeth, a daughter of Athena, and an enemy of Clarisse, who is a daughter of Ares. Through a series of events during Percy’s stay at camp, Poseidon claims him. However, just as the trident that claimed him fades away, a hellhound bursts into camp and sends the campers into panic, as these monsters supposedly are unable to enter. To protect the camp, Chiron sends Percy on a
Ellen Toliver changed from the beginning of the novel to the end of the novel in three ways. The first way Ellen Toliver changed in the story was going outside her comfort zone. An example of this claim is on page 16 when Ellen states “ It would be good to stay in the safe warm kitchen and never go out. Ellen overcame the obstacle by going on the mission to deliver the bread to Mr. Shannon that would end up going to General Washington. In the book, it states the Ellen overcame her obstacle of staying inside her comfort zone when Ellen’s mother shouts “ I’m proud of you Ellen.” But, I hope you will never do this again.” That shows that Ellen went out her comfort zone because her mother really was proud of her that she even took a step out her
