The design of a laboratory can be crucial when it comes to the efficiency, effectiveness, safety and security. Therefore, it is important that a laboratory is designed and planned out carefully at the start. When designing a laboratory, there are many things that must be taken into consideration to be able to get the best out of the lab.
The most important feature that a laboratory should have is safety. There can be many potentially dangerous hazards in a science lab. This means that there are many things that must be done in a laboratory for safety.
One safety in a science lab is disposal. Certain materials must be disposed of properly. This is because some products can react with anything they come across. Those products need to be disposed of separately and must be collected by professionals. Otherwise it can cause a dangerous chemical reaction such as fire, poisonous gas etc. This also means that the location of the waste bin is important. It must not be near anything that it could potentially react with. It is safer to put the waste bins in a separate section of the laboratory.
Another safety in science laboratory is what you wear, for example, lab coats, goggles or masks. These are the basic safety clothing/equipment that must be worn during investigations. To be able to make the most out of these safety clothing and equipment, it is useful to place these near the entrance of the lab so that when someone enters the laboratory, they can wear the required items as they enter.
