In between heaving dead cats the other day I came across several videos that explained why some days I want to heave dead cats more than other days. (In all actuality, I would not heave a dead cat if it bit me.) With my purr ball Roxie snuggled next to me I perused Youtube and found a very insightful explanation of one of the most common of all human conditions. Most of us run on autopilot. We limit ourselves to patterns of thought. We restrict ourselves to merely thinking rather than choosing.
Life always gives us some form of limitation. What is abundantly clear is in how we choose to deal with it, and how conscious will comes into play. The other day I was watching a neighbor's house get a new roof. Apparently, the roofer didn't require his crew to wear safety equipment. They looked capable enough, but one false step and it would be a thirty foot drop. Limitations are sometimes for our own good, and if we are paying the least bit of attention, we learn to know when to put on the safety gear and when to decide we don't need it.
Choosing to remain unconscious to old, inherited patterns of struggle, depression, anger and negativity in general, are all ways to guarantee living a miserable life. If immersed in those dark places, putting on a form of mental safety

There are millions of people who don't think, but rather are subject to thought. Thinking happens to them. Like breathing or digesting food, or blood circulating, thinking is automatic and not always conscious. The words, “I think” implies that there is consciousness behind the thought. Eckhart Tolle suggests that for most people this not yet the case. “The voice in the head has a life of its own and most people are at the mercy of that voice.” We are unaware that the voice in our head and our self are not the same. We think we are our thoughts. Of course, that's what our minds prefer. Our mind will run us, convince us and even betray us if left on its
First off, to get to the point where suicide is the only answer we block out all the joy of the world and let only the darkness of mankind consume
Like the darkness that quickly consumes, the imprisoning loneliness of oppression swallows its victim down into the abyss of insanity. & nbsp;
There are some human phenomena, which seem to be the result of individual actions and personal decisions. Yet, these phenomena are often - on closer inspection – as much a result of social factors as of psychological ones.
In the quote, from "Walden," the author Henry David Thoreau states, "if you are restricted in your range... you are but confined to the most significant and vital experiences," arguing that if you have no resources to guide you in life , you are dependent on the all the little experiences to learn how to get through, and those experiences will yield the most benefit.
Death’s whisper traveled in my ear, wrapping around my mind, “I can take you away from this madness. Beyond this hell, that is life.” “Will it be more peaceful there?” I asked. “As serene as heaven above.” Possessive Depression responded. My heavy heart fluttered at the thought of serenity. No more painful days, or lonely, restless nights. No more of this living death. Anxiety murmured all my insecurities tempting me to make the decision, as every tick-tock from the clock he held, echoed in my brain, putting fear in me of things that will never happen. I thought about the invitation to eternal sleep, “I would finally be able to extract this smiling mask…” Thus, I decided to join the dance of death, done dealing with my dilemmas.
There are side effects to almost every action people take. Getting rid of insects in a home can cause harm to the environment, or even poison pets within the household. Studying for a test can cause lack of sleep, and ultimately poorer health. Throwing away the remains of an unfinished dinner plate discards what could have been valuable nutrients for starving children in Africa. How one determines intentionality of an action has been a controversial topic for many. Joshua Knobe has conducted experiments for explaining the proper analysis of intentional action, while Uttich and Lombrozo have conducted experiments exploring the relationship between norms and mental state ascriptions in terms of intentional actions. This paper will review the results of one of Knobe’s studies, explain the side-effect effect in the perspective of Uttich and Lombrozo, and offer an alternative explanation to the side-effect effect.
While entangled in the sinister disorder, my physical, as well as mental, state was bleak and rapidly deteriorating. I could not think, walk, speak, exist without using every bit of energy within me, which was not very much. I began isolating myself from those
Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking has allowed me to get a new understanding about the human mind and the psychology behind the decisions we make. I became more educated about the mind and how the information you receive can affect your decision making and ultimately
One knows that one causes some of one 's own ideas read in Principles of Human knowledge page 28. Since the mind is passive in perception, there are ideas which one 's own mind does not
Wherever you live, whatever you do to reach your goals; without thinking, you wouldn’t be there. Whenever I consider a certain idea, the more I think about it, the more apt I am to receive or seek the knowledge, and the more probable I will solve my situations successfully. Although I may be hesitant to entertain radical and differentiating thoughts at times, I rest assured that if I am thinking for myself, the results will be in my favor no matter what the outcome, because I did not surrender sovereignty of my knowledge to anyone else.
Some people are forced to go to a mental hospital because they are doing too much harm to themselves by trying to kill themselves or by even hurting the people they most love. Many patients have said that they have been treated like animals and that they were abused by both physical verbal. They were also given strong medications so they could be quiet and fall asleep so that it could make the job easier so the they wouldn’t give the staff problems. Usually when the patient was given too much medication by the nurses they had more problems because they weren’t able to sleep due to too much medication, the patients also got sick frequently because again they were given too much medication. Sometimes because there was too much medication in a person’s body it made the person more wild and to not allow the person’s mind to think right, so they would kill themselves because they hallucinated things and would usually jump off the building, sometimes there were even assassinations where they would kill someone because they had hallucinated something. Now a lot of mental asylums have closed because of suicides and assassinations. It is believed that most old, closed mental asylums are haunted by the spirits who were killed or who killed themselves because of the bad treatment they received from the the doctors and the
Your mind can either break you or make you in a survival situation. We are always hungry when food is not available.
Individuals who are unhappy and wish to be a happy need to discover their way from where they are to where they wish to be, intermittently, there is a "result" to our self-harm and deliberate hopelessness; some piece of us generally supposes it is profiting from conveying an additional weight - as though we were group "focuses" we can cash in later for an equal reward (payable in happiness). Indeed, before you make another stride, you should understand that "casualties" are not happy people. The plan of happiness through affliction is an on a very basic level imperfect idea - as proved by the obvious lack of happy martyrs.
Is how we act is predetermined by a number of factors beyond our control or are we simply able to make choices that are not determined by our dispositions or desirers. This notion of freewill has been debated by theorists for centuries. Hard Determinists say that how we act is due to a combination of genetic factors and the environment around us. A similar notion is Fatalism where how is act is predetermined by a higher power. However Compatabalists think that how we act is a combination of freewill and what environmental and genetic endowments have been bestowed to us. This paper will critically discuss these theories and how human beings are capable of freewill.
It’s true what everyone talks about safety – you are the key to your safety, when you do it safely you do it the right way and the best gift you can give to your family is to always stay safe. We have been taught by our parents and teachers to be cautious while doing a number of things. That’s very essential in our daily lives, because one needs to be extra cautious to prevent unavoidable accidents. However, mishaps do happen everywhere in the safest of places, no matter how careful we are in our actions. It is highly unpredictable, what’s going to happen the very next instant. There are numerous incidences we come across like simple trips, falls, cuts due to sharp objects, burns or sudden worsening of a person’s health condition, causing
