To understand child protection in regards to safeguarding children and young people a number of factors need to be considered. It is the responsibility of all service providers, educational and health services that work with children and young people in schools where teaching staff have daily contact or external service providers and professionals who come into contact with them on a regular basis to abide by their duty of care by taking reasonable measures to ensure they protect them from any form of harm, abuse or neglect. Child protection is where a child or young person has been harmed, neglected or abused. Safeguarding is associated with protecting children from any form of risk by ensuring children and young people are kept safe through good working and safe practice within educational such as schools, health services etc. School have policies in place such as child protection, confidentiality, anti bullying, etc and have protocols and individual responsibilities that they must adhere to help to protect and safeguard children from any form abuse, as well as what procedures …show more content…

Children from poor backgrounds suffer greatly from malnutrition; have a higher risk of ill health due to living in cold and damp homes, mental and physical health issues are more likely such as depression, low self image, chronic illness etc, begin fed a diet lacking nutritional value or having to skip meals due to financial pressures on parents who may not have the capacity to provide for the basic needs of the child. All these factors also impact on the childrenâ€TMs ability to socially interact and play with other children their own age or form friendships due to lack of money. Children and young people who come from poor backgrounds are likely to live as long as those who come from middle class backgrounds, they have a higher probability of dyeing at birth, or having birth defects due
