There are many families in American history that sent a beloved friend or family member to war and never knew what happened to them. They had no idea if their loved one is one of the many dead soldiers that came back to America. Many of those families who had to suffer did not know what happened to their fellow friend or family member. To honor all the unknown soldiers that gave the greatest sacrifice, their life, a tomb was built in their name. Their life was not the only sacrifice they gave up to protect this country; they also gave up their identities. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is not just beautiful in its architecture, but also in the honor that it holds. A guard is placed outside of the tomb 24/7 to protect the fallen. Laying the wreath at the tomb would allow me to show respect for both of my great grandfathers that served at war.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was established in 1921 and is the for the unknown soldiers that fought for freedom in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. The first Unknown Soldier was from World War I. At first, he was just buried with a plain marble placed upon the burial site of the soldier. In 1923, an institution of civilian guards watched over the tomb, but later the U.S. Army took over the job. The tomb that is there today was designed by Lorimer Rich and was sculpted by Thomas H. Jones. The total cost of the tomb was $48,000 and it was made entirely out of white marble from the Yule Marble Quarry in Marble, Colorado. On the side of the tomb that faces Washington D.C. there are three symbols that from left to right represent Peace, Victory and Valor. On the opposite side of the tomb there is an inscription that reads, “Here Rests In Honored Glory An American Soldier Known ...

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has struck my interest for the past few years. I have always been interested in historical events that impacted many lives. The Holocaust, the Berlin Wall, and World War I and II have always been something I take very seriously and I am very interested in learning about America’s history. The backstory behind the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is fascinating and after researching it more I learned new things that made me more motivated to write this essay in hopes that I get the honor of laying a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Not only are military heroes buried at Arlington, but memorials have also been built to honor others who have given their lives for America. The memorials that are located throughout Arlington tell a story about people throughout American history (Reef 43). Each year families walk the endless rows of white head stones at Arlington in order to pay their respects to the ones that have given their lives for America.

The first military burial at Arlington dates back to 1864. During the Civil War the number of casualties outgrew the Washington D.C. based cemeteries which ensued the need for more burial grounds. The 200 acre property was formally

“Ah! Somebody call the police this guy just stole my purse!” a random woman screamed. As I remembered, my cousin works for the police at Pembroke Pines, so I called her and told her to come very fast; there was burglary going on. She got the there in less than a second. Everything happened very quickly; she got the burglar and gave the woman her purse back.
“I did it for my family” a short phrase that most would conceive as symbol of sacrifice. But what is sacrifice? Is it the idea that you put your life on the line for pride or is it the idea you put your life on the line for a purpose. Throughout the time I have worked for the courts I have seen multiple cases in which the idea of sacrifice can be applied. Significantly there are cases where a person is forced to carry drugs across the desert from Mexico; these people are known in society as “backpackers.” Each of the backpackers that come through these courts comes with bold stories of their motives of sacrifice. As they stand before the court confused and alone of the American justice system, they are held with tough legal decision of the
Where everyone was buried. Men, women, and children are buried there. I looked at each one of the graves carefully. One of the graves did not fit in, it had dirt like that person was buried a month ago. The grave belonged to the slave who died for his master. His grave was given this chemical that made it so the grass would not grow over him.
It's been almost one hundred years since Adam's War. Since Supers were exposed to the world and almost tore it apart. No one knows where exactly they came from or why they were born, but super humans soon made their mark on the earth. Humanity wasn't ready for them. At first they speculated, they doubted, they questioned their existence and what it meant. But then they got curious. They imprisoned them, experimented on them, determined to find out what made them different and replicate it for themselves. Supers were the next stage in human evolution, and humans wanted a slice for themselves. The Supers continued appearing in the general population, no one spoke about what was happening, and for a time everything seemed okay, but really
Dear journal, First I Was walking home and there was this boy who tried to steal my purse. But he fell on the floor. I grabbed him by his shirt and rattled him until his teeth chattered. I was so angry and mad.
As the jet flew over the mountains, the flight attendant said we would arrive later than expected because unusual weather we are approaching. I have terrible fears of heights and I have always feared something like this would occur. I had to calm myself down and prepare for the worst, when the flight attendant was speaking on the microphone the lights flicked on and off and out of nowhere everything blacked out. An unsuspected lightning bolt came straight into the plane everyone scream and beg to make it off safely. After, that we were losing aptitude in the air I was having an anxiety attack.
My parents had often visited since a great aunt and uncle were buried in 1999, as I found out after a winter’s night when my father passed away. My mother picked their spot in a mausoleum saying that she was sure this was where my dad wanted to be. Having no knowledge of the early family connection to this place, peace again wrapped around me at one of the most painful times of my life.
