Mumford and Sons Concert - SWOT Analysis On September 11th, 2013, Mumford and Sons played a concert in Simpsonville, South Carolina at the Charter Amphitheater in Heritage Park. The Grammy Award winning folk-rockers, known for their hits “I Will Wait” and “Little Lion Man”, were joined and supported on the lineup by fellow British music groups The Vaccines and Bear’s Den. I purchased a General Admission Lawn ticket for $35, well over a month before the day of the show. Right after I heard that Mumford and Sons, one of my favorite bands, were coming to my hometown I knew I had to attend the show no matter what. My excitement continued to build as I kept hearing about the show on the radio, seeing commercials on television, and hearing all my friends talk about it. On show day, the gates of the venue opened at 5:30 PM, and the first band took the stage around 7:15 PM. I was very impressed by the supporting bands on the lineup, but was very anxious to see the headliners. Mumford and Sons finally took the stage around 9:30 PM. They played an unforgettable set of songs and closed out the night by performing a special rendition of “Come Together” by The Beatles. They let the crowd sing along a cappella and it was the perfect ending to a perfect evening. The strengths for this event definitely seemed to outweigh the weaknesses. To start with, this concert hit sold-out status several weeks before the actual show date, which means people were really excited about it. On top of that, the show set a new attendance record at Charter Amphitheater, which holds a capacity of just under 15,000 people. Promoters and event producers in the Upstate, South Carolina area are not really known to get bigger up-and-coming bands, instead usu... ... middle of paper ... ...example, the stage collapsed during a Sugarland concert, which killed seven people and injured over fifty more (Chapman, 2012). Other stage collapses have occurred at a Radiohead concert in Toronto, a Cheap Trick concert in Ottawa, and the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium. I’ve attended over one hundred concerts in my life and this one was definitely up there for me in terms of excitement and quality. I’m originally from Greenville, so it was really cool to see a band that I actually like playing near my hometown. I would usually have to drive somewhere else to catch a show like that. I truly feel that this event set a precedent for what’s to come for the future music scene in the Upstate, and I’m excited to watch it take off from here. Well, I’ll be playing with Corey Wagar tonight at The Stone Pony for starters. Its gonna be a “Nashville meets New Jersey” sort of showcase band consisting of all top guys that play with all the national country acts like Taylor Swift, Sara Evans, Josh Turner and many others. This is probably gonna be their first introduction to the Jersey Shore and The Stone Pony so we hope everyone gives them a very warm welcome and makes them feel right at home. We are really excited to be able to make this happen in front of a hometown crowd.
at a rock concert. On Thursday January 18, at the Scottenstein Center in Columbus, I
and end on Monday, August 18. The promoters had printed up 60,000 tickets to be sold making it the biggest concert event of it’s time. There was very little promotion of it
This is a scenario that is becoming more apparent. In upcoming news the rock and roll band U2 has launched a world wide tour and they plan to come here to Tempe to play Sun Devil Stadium in the beginning weeks of May 97. The political group Rage Against The Machine will also be opening for U2. I am a fan of both of these bands so I looked into getting tickets for the show. I have found some shocking results as far as tickets go as well as tickets for other bands. For the U2 shows it can cost up to $61.60 for ONE ticket. “Thanks in part to eye-popping Ticketmaster telephone service fees of $8.35 per ticket, a set of tickets for U2’s May 31 show at New Jersey’s Giant’s Stadium cost a fan $246.40 for four tickets”(Boehlert 25). As a freshman in college on a tight budget it is extremely difficult for myself to pay that much money for one ticket with a $8.35 surcharge. I am sure that many people can empathize with not wanting to see some of your favorite music at such a high price. Why must the surcharges be so high?
...Maine. More than 80,000 fans show up to these events. These events are usually the cause of huge traffic jams and a three day party. People come from all over the world just to experience the sense of community, as well as the intriguing music.
...ofessionals they didn’t just play music but they took pride in whatever instrument they played which really made it more enjoyable. I took notice in how the band communicated with each other either by hand signal or eye signal and they all paid close attention to Eric’s every move. It is so important to watch whoever is leading; good communication will cut down a lot of unnecessary mistakes. I really enjoyed the songs the texture of the songs was composed very well, even though the songs were written in a 60s and 70s style I could relate to them. My favorite is “Layla” I sometimes sing it all throughout the day, I love the texture and I love the rhythm. Overall the concert was awesome, I would definitely attend Eric Clapton’s concert if he’d come into my town. The concert was well worth listening to and I would definitely invite a friend to join along with me.
At Warped there is a stage called “Main Stage”. Kevin Lyman has a person named Kenny Leath. He runs the bands that are on Main Stage every year. This year the band he will be managing is Of Mice & Men. He gets to tell them when they start playing and when they stop.
The night was young, times were crazy and it was only the beginning of my senior year. It was still warm out and it still felt like summer; we didn’t know that we could have this much fun in one night, but we knew we were going to have fun no matter what. My first concert had to be one of the best nights of my life and one of my most favorite nights of my life during my senior year. It all began when my buddy Alex Kramper decided to give me a phone call and wanted to know if I wanted to go to an Imagine Dragons concert at the Verizon Wireless Amplifier Theater for only twenty bucks, I responded with a hell yeah, the concert was only in a weak.
We got to the Murray about twenty minutes before the concert started. So we headed in to find our seats and wait for the opening band to come out and perform. At about five after eight, the lights went out and it was time for the concert to start. Two guys came out on stage and started to sing. The two guys called themselves Core Project. I thought that this band was pretty awful. I could not understand one word they said the entire time they were on the stage. They just tried to be like every other band to come out right now. They didn’t offer anything different or unique. I must not have been the only one that thought they were bad because there were many people booing and yelling out “you suck” while they where on stage. After about a twenty minute performance they left the stage and another band came out to perform.
Every musician distinctly remembers the first time they set foot on stage to perform for an enthusiastic audience. Stage fright usually disappears as the musician feeds off the crowd’s energy. Moments in the spotlight causes a person to act differently and develops his or her stage presence. I agree with Bloom when he says that punk rock creates an unforgettable buzz. For example, Jason Butler of a hardcore band called letlive. is infamous for his outrageous onstage antics. These include smashing instruments, stagediving, and fighting with security guards. As the crowd gets louder, he gets crazier. Bloom’s conclusion can be based on how the punk rock genre is commonly operated.
Because sometimes you’ll go to a concert and the crowds crazy and it’s worth it for the music but sometimes it takes away from your experience.” Since Live Nation has bought our Bonnaroo for the last two years, Sarah seemed refreshed to discuss the old Bonnaroo that she fell in love
In conclusion, the concert was really interesting and I enjoyed myself. In my opinion the two pieces that I really like in this concert, are Sounden Horn and Polonaise from Engine Onegin, the shift between the melodic lines and the element of beauty is what made me like it. In the future I would recommend it to my friends and I will not mind to go with them at all. This kind of music is the best to me by far.
After 15 minutes people were starting to get frustrated because nothing was happening. It is a good thing. Suddenly there was activity onstage and the lights dimmed. the first support band, Slam Cartel, came on. The mosh pit went wild.
I had never really been to a big concert that had a well-known band. A couple of weeks before the concert I got some information about it, but really didn't think much of it. I talked with some friends about the band and we all casually decided to go get tickets for it. Little did I know what an absolutely spectacular time I would have.
After the show had ended, I felt slightly empty. I had waited years and months for that night, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Although I was sad that the show was over, I felt completely content. Now, when I hear their songs, I get to remember what it felt like to hear the band perform them live. I can watch the videos and try to wrap my mind around how it was real. Going to my first concert was an unparalleled experience that I will always cherish. The ambiance, the band’s performance and the unity the audience
