Russell Westbrook was the starting point guard first game in the NBA, his rookie season wasn’t the best but he did put up some magnificent numbers, he didn’t get rookie of the year that season but he they did get out of the first round unfortunately to the Miami Heat. His second year, they came back and got in the NBA playoffs once again, and fell short the second round to the San Antonio Spurs, he didn’t put up excellent numbers that year but they were pretty good for a point guard and only second year in the NBA. Russell Westbrook has won a pretty good amount of awards for just being 29 years old, he has won the NBA All Star Game MVP for the last 2 seasons (2015-2016) most likely winning it again this year the way he is playing, he also was selected on all first team in 2016. Last season, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder was tryna seek an NBA Championship but fell short in the conference finals to the Golden State Warriors, this would have been the first ring Russell Westbrook would have won! This season now, Russell Westbrook is tryna beat an NBA record for most triple doubles in one season (10+ Points, 10+ Rebounds, 10+ Assist) he is at 28 right now and the record is 41, which was set by the great Oscar Roberson.. and Russell Westbrook is having a crazy and
Michael Jordan, in his prime, was thought of as one of the greatest basketball champions of all time. A shooting guard, standing at six-six, Jordan was able to out play anyone in his position. He started his career at the University of North Carolina, where he helped his team win a national championship. He then was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the 1984-85 season. While playing for the Bulls, Jordan received many awards such as, MVP, five championships, Olympic gold medals, slam dunk contests, and many more defensive and offensive awards. Jordan simply dominated the nineties and left the game as a NBA Finals winner in 1998.
Westbrook leads the Thunder to a 26-19 record, good for sixth seed in the tough Western Conference. There’s no reason for a player who is averaging 30.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game to not be named the starter for the All-Star game. It’s a slap in the face, whether Westbrook denies it or not. It’s a sign of disrespect. There’s no other player who is doing more for his team than Westbrook.
The Fab Five In 1991 in the Crisler Center Arena of Michigan University a revolution of culture rebellion had begun. The Fab Five or formally known as Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, and Ray Jackson. Some might say they were the best thing to happen to basketball but to some they were everything that was wrong with college basketball. In my opinion they were more than just people playing basketball. The Fab Five transformed the way basketball is played and how it is viewed.
Shaquille O’Neal is one of the biggest and most dominant guys to ever play the game of basketball. He is such a big guys, he wears a size 43 shoes! He is one of the most dominant BigMen to ever play in the NBA. Shaquille O’Neal was an NBA power forward from 1982-2011, his life before, during and after the NBA are pretty fascinating subjects to talk about.
Everybody had high expectations about him, they were seeing in him a new leader, a new beginning for the Pistons. He didn’t prove anybody wrong. He started at the 1995 all-star game after becoming the first rookie ever to lead all players in fan voting. Along with Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks, were co-voted as the Rookie Players of the Year. In the next four seasons, he started in all all-star games and averaged 23.2 Points Per Game, 7.6 Rebounds Per Game and 6.7 Assist Per Game.
...th American sport) led the NBA to name the finals MVP award after him. Russell was also one of the most genuinely liked players around the league, mostly for how he respected the game and everyone who played it. Even in his fiercest rivalries, many of which involved Wilt Chamberlain, the other dominant big man in the game at the time. He never let what happened on the floor impact how he treated him off the floor, and vice versa. There have been countless documentaries and books written about him all of which express how well liked he was along with his tremendous success. To me, he is one the prime examples of a star player on and off the court. He never let his talent or popularity take away from the morals he learned as a child and kept them with him all along. A quality, which I believe, everyone wishes to carry in their lives, wherever their path may take them.
The NBA is well known for the number of amazing professional athletes it has had over the years. Some of the most gifted and talented individuals come through the NBA and one of the better-known superstars is none other than Kobe Bryant. For years people have wondered what makes Bryant so successful. The main contributors that lead to Kobe Bryant’s success is his hard work and dedication, his mindset, his natural ability’s and talent, and the people that have helped him throughout his life. Kobe Bryant was very successful in the NBA because of the amount of hard work he has put in, the people in his life, his relentless determination and his god given natural abilities.
As a 5’9” sophomore in high school in Wilmington, North Carolina, he tried out for his school’s basketball team but wasn’t good enough, neither tall enough, to make it. He then practiced throughout the year and came back as a 6’3” junior to try out. With his improved skills and After graduating from high school, he accepted a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina. In his first season at Carolina, he became the second Tarheel player to start in every game as a freshman and was named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year (1982). At the end of his freshman year, he made the game-winning shot against Georgetown University for the championship of the NCAA. The Sporting News named him college player of the year in 1983 and in 1984. He left North Caro...
Who is Allen Iverson? Allen Iverson is a former National Basketball Association (NBA) player. He had a difficult childhood but that didn’t stop him from making his dream a reality. He worked hard and became a professional basketball player.
When I began my report I didn’t know much about Michael Jordan, but I did know that he was “undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of the NBA'; (“Michael Air Jordan'; 1). It seemed like every time I heard the word basketball I also heard the name Michael Jordan. There’s just no avoiding him. If you are watching television you might see him playing basketball or golf. If you were reading a magazine there will probably be an advertisement with his picture. If you were walking down the street you might see a kid wearing Air Jordan shoes or a Bulls jersey with “JORDAN'; on the back of it. This man is probably as recognizable as the Pope.
Everybody knows the story. Michael Jordan got cut from his high school basketball team so he worked twice as hard and finally made it. People look at this and believe that hard work ethic will earn you success in whatever you do. He then went on to attend the University of North Carolina where he helped the Tar Heels become national champions. At this point people thought Michael Jordan was the real deal, but some were still skeptical. Finally he was drafted into the NBA where he won six championship rings. No one was skeptical anymore. Everyone looks at his on the court success and believes he is the greatest player to ever play the game. For those who don’t watch sports, they see him on commercials and see him drink his Gatorade, wear his Hanes underwear, show off his new shoes, and spray his cologne. The fact of the matter is that Michael Jordan has become a household name in America. Many feel he rep...
December 21, 1891- The birth of basketball. It has been changed from simply shooting a soccer ball into a peach basket to dunking a seven pound, leather ball into an iron rim. In the early years of the game, basketball was not as popular as other sports. In the 1985 NBA draft all this would change with the emergence of a 6'6" basketball phenomenon from Wilmington, North Carolina. Although going third in the draft, he recreated the game and is known as the best player to ever touch a basketball; he is Michael Jordan.
Additionally, Bryant joined the all-star team in just his second season in the league, therefore becoming the single youngest player to be part of the all-star team of all time (“Bryant, Kobe” 1) at just 19 years old (Kobe at 30--Oh, how the years go by 2). Surprisingly, these achievements would not be the only ones he would acquire. By 2003, Bryant had already captured 3 NBA titles for himself (“Bryant, Kobe” 1), winning three titles in a row from 2000 to 2002 (Kobe at 30-- 2), and these would surely not be his last.... ... middle of paper ... ...
First, we will celebrate LeBron James’s accomplishments in the NBA. There are over 400 players in the NBA. These players are on the battlefield, fighting day after day because they all know only one can become the Most Valuable Player. LeBron James rose above all, claiming the MVP award, not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 times. Not only is LeBron James an MVP, but he is also a 13-time All-Star player. LeBron James garnered enough votes from the fans, the players, and the media to become an All-Star like a presidential candidate getting enough votes from the voters to become the President.
Another person that has influenced me is an entrepreneur and retired professional Hall of Fame basketball player Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan is not only a retired professional basketball player that went to the University of North Carolina but he also hosted a numerous of basketball camps to give children the opportunity to live out their dreams. Mr. Jordan stated. “If you 're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I 've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don 't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don 't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it” (“Quotes by Michael Jordan”). Ten years ago I came across a rerun of a Michael Jordan press conference telling the world that he is retiring from the NBA because his father was murdered and he had no longer love the game of basketball. I had always found Mr. Jordan basketball skills to be remarkable and had been very interested and why people praise him highly. I found Michael Jordan and his documentaries to be very enlightening and I love to watch videos of him play basketball because I wanted to be like him. I notice that he loves playing basketball because his documentary mentions he hates losing. Not only did Michael Jordan seem passionate about basketball, but he also talked about more than just basketball and hoping to educate younger people that he has dealt with adversity to get to the NBA. When he said that he did not love basketball
