My story is Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims. First of all, there are 6 main characters. Including, Rush Revere the history teacher, Tommy, Freedom, Liberty Rush’s horse (magical horse), William Bradford, and Myles Standish are all main characters. This story takes place in Manchester Middle school, Plymouth Rock, and on The Mayflower. Those are the main things about my book. My book starts off very interesting, let me tell you about it. There is a teacher out sick and Rush Revere is filling in. He wrote his name on the board and was immediately made fun of because he was dressed up like a man from the 1600’s. Soon Rush starts with his lesson, he shows a video of him and Liberty going back in time and he meets William Bradford. Liberty and Rush come back from the adventure and Liberty is wearing clogging shoes. When he was trying to get the shoes off he flew one through the …show more content…
window, Tommy took the blame for it and ends up with a detention. This is just the beginning of things, there’s much more to come. Soon, things start to get very intense in my story.
Rush, Tommy, and Liberty go back in time about a week later in the past, but on earth, only about an hour had past. They are on the Mayflower, when all of the sudden someone spots land! That very second everyone came up from the deck below and saw land. Everyone rejoices and celebrates the victory! That changed everything, even my point of view. There is a very happy ending to the story (spoilers are coming). Rush, Tommy, and Liberty come back and get Freedom. Rush got an invitation to the First Thanksgiving a little while before they came back 3rd time. They go back, enjoy the dinner and stay to talk with William and Myles. Soon they say their goodbyes and they head back to their normal lives. There are many good parts in the story, but if I have to pick one, I loved the part when the Pilgrims see the Indian. They see the Indian they begin talking and become friends. That made Thanksgiving because without the Indians, the Pilgrims would have starved. It was such a great moment in my
opinion. I definitely recommend this book because it is very interesting. It is funny, and there are a lot of puns. It tells about one of the most important events in American history in way that keeps ones of our age interested. Although the title of this book does not sound like one that would keep my attention, it did. You will never forget this book after you have read it!
Paul Revere’s Ride has many sections which decodes Reveres life. Paul Revere’s midnight ride has a huge event in America’s history but was overlooked by many. David Hackett wrote this book telling all what happened before, during, and after his journey which led to the American Revolution. This showed the courageousness of Revere throughout his lifetime from his childhood to his battles. Hackett also unravels the story of Thomas Gage. He also took a huge role in impacting American liberty and law, and the American Revolution.
This is such a good conflict, which made the movie more interesting to watch and you always waited to see what the Indians were going to do next.
Nathaniel Philbrick tells the story of the Pilgrims, beginning with them breaking away from the Church of England, emigrating to Holland, and eventually to America on the Mayflower. He talks about the relationship they had with the "Strangers" or nonbelievers that accompanied them on their adventure. He tells stories about disease, death, deception, and depression. I had never thought about it, but you know some of those people had to be suffering from depression. He tells of joys but mostly of hardships and as he describes some of the first meetings with the Native Americans. His description of the first Thanksgiving is not the same as the pictures I have seen all of my life.
Give a brief summary of what your story might be like. These should be meaningful and relevant to the author’s purpose.
Do you know the interesting story of Paul Revere? Such a brave and fearless person, Paul Revere had the infamous Midnight Ride. Paul set out on horseback from the city to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock and to alert the Minutemen.
The main character in the book was Thomas small; he is a young boy about 12 years old. He is shy and timid but is very mature for his age. He sees things for how they should be, and he often gives too much due to his kind-hearted nature. Thomas best friend is Pesty Darrow a girl his age who lives on the property that borders theirs. The Darrows are a feuding family and believe that there is gold buried on the Small’s land. They feel that it should belong to them and pull many risky stunts to try and find it. Mrs. Darrow is Pestys mother and the key to many secrets of the house and the tunnels that were once apart of the Underground Railroad. Due to her mental illness, she cannot speak and remember things clearly. Thomas’s father has known the location of the gold, and being the good man that he is, arranges for the Darrows to find it. He did this so they could live next to each other without feuding.
Settling into the “New World” was a burden on not only the Pilgrims, but on the adapting Natives as well. In “The Mayflower and the Pilgrims’ New World,” Nathaniel Philbrick writes about much of the Pilgrims history arguing that the basic story does not illustrate the complexity of the relationship between the Native Americans and the Pilgrims. Although, the Pilgrims struggled in the beginning, much of the burden was lifted by the help of the Natives. However, the breaking of the alliance, that aided the Pilgrims in their first years, causes me to point fingers towards the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims’ disrespectful, threatening, and harsh manner puts them to blame for the break down on the good relations between the Natives and the Pilgrims.
...lowed me to step into the early 1800's of America and get a good, solid grip of what a brave woman went through to secure the freedom of her children. I was able to connect with Harriet Jacobs and her life as she was an incredibly venerable woman with a good heart and a bit of a stubborn streak that a lot of people could relate to in one way or another. This book definitely made a large impact on me and I feel like I will carry a majority of it with me for quite a while, in particular the seven years that Jacobs spent in an cramped "attic" in a shed. She was so close to her children, yet wasn't able to do anything for them for all those years except remain quiet and wait for the time to take action so she could keep them safe. This book has maintained the part of an American classic for many reasons and it was an absolute wonderful and enlightening book to read.
Many people wonder what it would be like to go from a dangerous city where they live and journey to a plentiful heaven. This storyline is portrayed in John Bunyan’s allegorical book, Pilgrim’s Progress. This fascinating story describes the life of Christian, a married man living in the City of Destruction, who longs to travel to the Celestial City. As Christian struggles to stay on the right, though more difficult path, I fight to focus in school and not pay attention to distracting ideas. I also fight to get strong enough in dance to become a professional dancer, just as Christian has to climb the Hill of Difficulty to get to the Palace Beautiful. In order for Christian to arrive at the Celestial City without wasting away his life, he must be patient. In the same way, I must be patient to reach my life goal. Just as Christian struggled to get through his obstacles in his life, I must get stronger to dance, focus in school, and be patient in order to reach my life goal of becoming a faithful and patient person of God.
This is an odd little book, but a very important one nonetheless. The story it tells is something like an extended parablethe style is plain, the characters are nearly stick figures, the story itself is contrived. And yet ... and yet, the story is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking because the historical trend it describes is powerful, distressing, even heartbreaking.
My book is called “Ranger’s Apprentice: The Burning Bridge”. It’s the story of how a Ranger Apprentice, a Ranger and a Warrior apprentice travel to a nearby town only to find it completely deserted. Meanwhile an evil leader named Lord Morgarath is planning to cross the mountains to get revenge on all the other villages. The Ranger, Gilan, believes that Morgarath is using the people from the village to make a bridge to be able to cross.
My favorite story I read this year was “The Canterbury Tales.” I really liked this story because it was very interesting. This story takes place in the Middle Ages. My two favorite characters are the Wife of Bath and the Pardoner. I want to read this story again.
This story is exactly that... it is a story. In the early 1600’s the first of the settlers we know as the pilgrims came to America on the Mayflower. That is probably the only true fact about the Thanksgiving story. The individuals to come across
Chaucer decides to take some interesting Pilgrims on his pilgrimage to Canterbury The Canterbury Tales: The Prologue. Some of these people include the Monk, Friar, Summoner, Parson, and the Pardoner. These are just a few of the characters selected to go on the journey to Canterbury. All of the characters have different roles, physical traits, personalities, and classes. At times these different traits bring controversy and some interesting conversation. Today, some people to include in Chaucer’s pilgrimage to Canterbury would be a reality television star, an NFL player, and a high school teacher.
I don't remember what much of what I learned about the first Thanksgiving. I do remember being taught that the interaction between the "Indians" and "Pilgrims" was peaceful; the Native Americans gave to the Englishmen and vice versa. Also in grade school, I remember coloring/ drawling pictures of the Native Americans wearing very colorful feathers and lightly clothed; which the "Pilgrims" were fully clothed in all black and buckled boots. I still see pictures of the first Thanksgiving and I think it is interested to see society's depiction of the two groups of people.
