Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, is a children’s Christmas song with a theme of hope and greatness for everyone that is unique. There are various poetic devices used throughout the song that lead to that message. There are two examples of personification in places in the song. Both examples have to do with reindeer. In the first example the reindeer are described as poking fun of Rudolph because of his unique red nose, just like little children. The line read “All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names”. In the second example, the reindeer actually speak. The sleigh team now needs Rudolph and accept him after Santa Claus sees his value. They tell Rudolph that

For example, one line, “Soon our pilgrimage will cease; Soon our happy hearts will quiver, with the melody of peace,” which is saying that one day we will die, and you can’t stop that. “Lay we every burden down; Grace our spirits will deliver, and provide a robe and a crown,” also reveals that you should appreciate what we’ve had, and what was given to us. This song is telling you, in every line, that you can’t live forever, but appreciate what you have, while you

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a story we are all familiar with, it captures a moment in time of blatant prejudices and inequality that spanned years from when it was written in 1939 to when it was released as a movie in 1964. However endearing the story may be, it is a testament to what conditions were socially accepted as normal during that time period. Originally written by Montgomery Ward to sell appliances, this story has an explicit lens of bigotry, inequality, and the importance of conforming to society.
The “fat and …bone” are compared to symbolize the difference between whites and blacks. The second stanza compares black and whites to rivers and the sea; one is fresh and the other salty, but both are bodies of water. The third stanza uses a metaphor to compare living out lives alone while pitching a tent in solitude, all alone in our own little world. It also uses the “sun and shadow” to symbolize whites and blacks. In stanza four grief and joy are contrasted with the use of personification. While joy only favors a few, grief is a common factor shared by all people, making it a common ground one in which anyone can come together. The fifth stanza or the last uses similes to give the message that although it is sometimes painful and unpleasant to share other’s grief it is something that must be done in order for everyone to live in harmony. It also relates grief to a weapon, calling it a “blade shining and unsheathed that must strike me down”. It also compares sorrow to a crown of “bitter aloes wreathed”. The overall poem contains Biblical allusions. It sends the message that everyone should rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn. Cullen is calling all Americans to do as Jesus did and be a man of the people
The song sends a positive and peaceful aura; John Lennon hopes we can all live as one. He establishes his credibility, or ethos, by being one of the original

Color is a powerful tool in film making. What once was only black and white is now a full spectrum of vibrancy. But monochromatism is still an integral artistic choice in film. Blacks and whites in movies and television tend to represent the dark nature of scenes: death, evil, sadness, the macabre. Deep blacks, rich grays, and harsh whites tend to illustrate the Gothic influence of the piece as well as its tone. Adam Barkman, a writer famous for his analysis of films, explains the impact of color in film in his book A Critical Companion to Tim Burton “When we see a particular color, we immediately attach a particular set of meanings to it that is triggered by either our instincts or our memories” (Barkman
Peace, happiness, sharing, and an understanding among the brethren attribute to the sense of warmth during the Christmas holiday. It is a time where one can observe the generosity of the rich, and the poor making the best out of nothing. RRegardless of one's situation, it is expected that they be optimistic on this holiday and past it as well. They should make the best of whichever situation they are in. Hope is the very thing that makes this holiday such a success. It gives the people a chance to believe that everything will be all right, and that it will not last forever. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens has multiple elements that have symbolic significance in the story. One of utmost importance is fire; used to symbolize the image of hope and happiness. This is seen through out the novella, in each stave and helps conjure up images of one's own experience.
The song accomplishes such a thing by taking the approach of a man who knows he is dying, and who takes a nice approach to it. Before the man dies and gets to experience the beauty of heaven, he explains to his loved ones that he doesn't want them to cry for him when he is gone but rather be happy for him. Images of different seasons of the year to explain the process of growing older. Images that depict the fading of light in a persons soul transforming into darkness. Images that the reader can perceive as vivid actions.
The two primary topics I got to be mindful of amid the lyric are trust and recovery and the pictures I saw speaking to these subjects is the Cross and the Visionary. Restricted the Cross is situated up to be the method for salvation for the visionary is the point at which he states, "Thusly I tower now great under the sky, and I may mend each one of the individuals who hold me in stunningness". In saying this, he is telling the Visionary there is still a risk that he can be spared. Toward the end of the lyric there is likewise an evident topic of trust that is talked through the expressions of the Visionary. One quote that stood out to me is "Presently is there any expectation of life for me, that I am allowed to look for the tree of triumph, more regularly than other men honor it well, alone".
This song reassures us that in a world so vast and separated, people can be brought together by love and faith. Similarly, "Dreaming of You" expresses that life can be an unexpected fairytale in which our dreams can and do come true. It paints a picture of a female/male night after night dreaming about the person she/he loves; longing, waiting for the courage to express that love.... ... middle of paper ... ... Listeners reap from this conclusion the sense of hope needed to live out their lives.
