Rudolf Hess may be classified as a perpetrator on the Holocaust Triangle because he was signed in the Secret Cabinet Council of the Nazi party. Alfred D. Low points out, “In these capacities he [Hess] fulfilled manifold functions relating to Party leadership and the approval of all legislation suggested by the different Reich Ministers”(Low 108). Without Hess many anti-semitic acts would have never taken place because without legislation the plans could not have been followed through. In the article “People of the Holocaust,” the author notes that, “On November 20,1945, twenty-one Nazi’s appeared at the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany, to stand trial for conspiracy, crimes against peace, war crimes, and crimes against humanity”(“People
After listening to a testimony from Ralph Fischer, a Holocaust survivor I have gained a new level of understanding to what happened in those few years of terror when the Nazi party was at power. On top of that I have learned that they are just like other people in many different ways. As a child, Ralph went to school, played with friends, and spent time with his family. All that is comparable to any other modern-day child. However, as the Nazi party rose to power he was often bullied, left out, or even beat for being Jew. Although not as extreme, I have often been mistreated because I was different, and it’s easy to understand the pain of being left out just because you are not the same. Eventually he had to drop out of school and then had
Georg Ferdinand Duckwitz was a “righteous gentile” who had a relatively normal life before World War II. He was born in 1904 (jfr.org). He worked with the international coffee trade (jfr.org), established a deep connection with the Danish people (forces-war-records.co.uk), and became friends with Werner Best (jfr.org). "Duckwitz was drawn to the Nazis’ ultranationalist propaganda and joined the party. However, as Hitler’s violent intentions came to light, he became disillusioned with the party (facinghistory.org)." He felt sorry for the Danish Jews and was disappointed that he had joined the Nazi party (facinghistory.org). Little did he know, his friend, Best, had overseen the murder of French and Polish Jews and well as requested (through
Simon Wiesenthal: The Nazi Hunter. There are many heroic individuals in history that have shown greatness during a time of suffering, as well as remorse when greatness is needed, but one individual stood out to me above them all. He served as a hero among all he knew and all who knew him. This individual, Simon Wiesenthal, deserves praise for his dedication to his heroic work tracking and prosecuting Nazi war criminals that caused thousands of Jews, Gypsies, Poles and other victims of the Holocaust to suffer and perish. The Life of a Holocaust Victim The effect the Holocaust had on Wiesenthal played a major role in the person he made himself to be.
Beginning in 1933, Hitler and his Nazi party targeted not only those of the Jewish religion but many other sets. Hitler was motivated by religion and nationalism to eradicate any threats to his state. It was Hitler’s ideology that his Aryan race was superior to any other. Hitler’s goal was to create a “master race” by eliminating the chance for “inferiors” to reproduce. Besides the Jews the other victims of the genocide include the Roma (Gypsies), African-Germans, the mentally disabled, handicapped, Poles, Slavs, Anti-Nazi political parties, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Homosexuals. In Hitler’s eyes all of these groups needed to be eliminated in order for his master race to be a success.
The Holocaust was one of the greatest tragedies the world has ever known. There were many key people who participated in this outrageous genocide however some get more attention then others. Adolf Eichmann is a classic example. Eichmann was a self-proclaimed “Jewish Specialist” and head of the Gestapo Department. Eichmann was responsible for keeping every train rolling right into the stations of the concentration and death camps during the holocaust. Now we will take a look into Eichmann’s childhood, life experiences, and his later actions to see what shaped into a man of hatred towards the Jewish race.
“ Hitler used propaganda and manufacturing enemies such as Jews and five million other people to prepare the country for war.” (Jewish Virtual Library), This piece of evidence shows Hitler’s attempt of genocide toward the Jewish race a...
"While fighting for victory the German soldier will observe the rules for chivalrous warfare. Cruelties and senseless destruction are below his standard" , or so the commandment printed in every German Soldiers paybook would have us believe. Yet during the Second World War thousands of Jews were victims of war crimes committed by Nazi's, whose actions subverted the code of conduct they claimed to uphold and contravened legislation outlined in the Geneva Convention. It is this legislature that has paved the way for the Jewish community and political leaders to attempt to redress the Nazi's violation, by prosecuting individuals allegedly responsible. Convicting Nazi criminals is an implicit declaration by post-World War II society that the Nazi regime's extermination of over five million Jews won't go unnoticed.
Heinrich Himmler was the Reich Leader (Reichführer) of the dreaded SS of the Nazi Party from 1929 until 1945. Heinrich presided over an immense ideological and bureaucratic empire that defined him for many (on the inside and outside the third Reich) as the second most powerful man in German during the time of World War Two. Heinrich was born on October 7, 1900 into the middle- class. He was born in Munrich, Germany. (www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/himmler.html)
Rudolf Hess was a very intelligent man. He did all of this to try to help Hitler, out of his loyalty and faith in him, but when Hitler heard of what he had done, in a frenzy, he revoked all of his ranks. This is unhappy because all he was trying to do was help Hitler out, but instead it turned out to be the biggest mistake of his life. Rudolf Hess was a much laid-back man, but he could be very cruel at times. He was a very import man in the eyes of every Nazi during World War II.

Heros of the Holocaust What is a hero? A hero is defined as a brave or noble person, but this definition is not accurate after reading Arnold Geier's book Heroes of the Holocaust. This book deals with the true heroes of one of the most repulsive and disgusting times in world history. The compilation of stories in this book is not so much about the survivors who tell the stories, but about the heroes who risked their lives and well being to come to the aid of others so these stories could be told. There are heroes such as Mr. Warszawski who sold his competitor's merchandise so the family could stay alive or Mr. DeJong who searched for days for his missing daughter.
After World War II the world began to here accounts of the atrocities and crimes committed by the Nazi’s to the Jews and other enemies of the Nazis. The international community wanted answers and called for the persecution of the criminals that participated in the murder of millions throughout Europe. The SS was responsible for playing a leading role in the Holocaust for the involvement in the death of millions of innocent lives. Throughout, Europe concentration camps were established to detain Jews, political prisoners, POW’s and enemies of the Third Reich. The largest camp during World War II was Auschwitz under the command of SS Lieutenant Colonel Rudolf Hoess; Auschwitz emerged as the site for the largest mass murder in the history of the world. Adolf Hitler wasn’t always a horrible person. He wasn’t always torturing innocent victims. He was once a victim himself. Traumatic experiences in his adolescence life led him to become such a careless dictator.
It was in December 1948, when it was approved unanimous the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide at France which became the 260th resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations. What made the leaders of the 41 States create and sign this document in which the term Genocide was legally defined? This document serves as a permanent reminder of the actions made by the Nazis and their leader Adolf Hitler during the Holocaust where more than five million of European Jews were killed. In summary I will explain what were the events that leaded the ordinary Germans kill more than six million Jews in less than five years. To achieve this goal, I will base my arguments on the Double Spiral Degeneration Model provided by Doctor Olson during the spring semester of the Comparative Genocide class.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “One man with courage is a majority.” What Jefferson meant by this was that a person with courage operates at the same level as a group of more than one person. Jefferson’s quote ties in with the life of Oskar Schindler, a German factory owner who saved the lives of many Jews during the Holocaust. Schindler did this by keeping his Jewish workers in the safety of his factories, away from the concentration camps and execution. The lives saved were unintentional at first, as Jewish workforces were cheaper than hiring Poles, but as the Holocaust continued, Schindler found himself actively protecting his workforce as well as bringing in more Jews to his safe factories. As a result of his actions, Schindler saved over
