It is hard to be alone or to be separated from the closed ones. Affiliation is something which we experience more often in our daily routine and is directly related to the subject of psychology. When two persons meet and create a strong bond between them, an affiliation establishes. That affiliation or connection can be clearly explained in psychology. Similarly, the sense of achievement can be very overwhelming and is also a motivation. For instance, I experience these two things in my everyday life quite often. Whenever I score the highest in any of my tests, I study even harder for the next test, because the appreciation and the happiness I got from the first achievement motivated me for the next test. Theory is a set of interconnect statements that explain how two or more things are related in two casual fashions, based upon a confirmed hypotheses and established multiple times by disconnected groups of researchers.

According to Roberta M. Gilbert (1992), to different degrees in different people and families, the basic self is separated from the emotional system of one’s family very early in life. Mother/child/family togetherness is where this takes place. Ideally, one would be a complete and emotionally separate self sometime before leaving one’s family of origin, at the highest levels of differentiation. In addition, at higher levels of differentiation there is less tendency for attachment of self to others because the more basic self is present. This happens because one is more completely separated emotionally from the original family emotional system. However, just because one lacks emotional attachment does not imply emotional distance from family members.

Psychodynamic and behavioural approaches are the two major approaches to personality, however, they view personality from different perspectives. Psychodynamic approach makes the argument that personality is caused by forces in the unconscious that are not learned. The individual has little control over their behaviour as it is predetermined, and early childhood plays a crucial part in shaping a person’s personality. Freud argued that personality is composed of three major systems the id, the ego, and the superego. The id (biological part of personality) is present at birth and consists of inherited instincts and all psychological energies. The id operates according to the pleasure principle, seeking to reduce tension, avoid pain and obtain pleasure. The ego (executive part of personality) is conscious part of the mind, the “real” us.
When we are born, over time we grow up and develop a personality. For each person, our personalities differentiate between one another which presents a wide variety of individuals. According to psychology, there are different factors that make up who we are. Today, I will be talking about the four major theories of personality (Psychodynamic, five-factor model, humanistic, and social-cognitive).
The first personality theory covered is psychoanalytic, or psychodynamic. The perspective of psychoanalysis is one of the more famous and historical ways of thinking about psychology, finding its roots with Sigmund Freud, and was mostly agreed upon by theorists such as Carl Jung and Erik Erikson. Freud put a strong emphasis on childhood having a strong impact on one’s unconscious, and that most of one’s personality is formed during childhood. Freud divided the personality into three parts. The id, ego, and superego. The id is very basic, and is developed during childhood, and consists of animal-like instincts, and what Freud called the “pleasure principle”. The id tends to seek pleasure and avoid pain, and not much else. The ego is the conscious part, and the smallest, but is the manager of the rest of the personality. The
