Roswell July 8th 1947

On July 8th 1947 an unidentified flying object crashed at a ranch in Roswell, New Mexico. The owner of the ranch was Mr. W.W. Brazel, who did not see thecrash happen but found the wreckage. The only witnesses were Mr. and Mrs. Wilmot. Initially Mr. Wilmot decided not to let anyone know what he saw thinking that a sight like that was seen by someone else. He eventually told the officials at the RAAF (Roswell Army Air Field) of what he had seen. Eventually when word spread of the incident, conspiracies where formed about the wreckage. The paper that published all three stories was the Roswell Daily Record. The balloon landed on W.W Brazels’ ranch, on the date the day of July 9, 1947. He did not witness the crash himself but later found the wreckage on his ranch. At first glance he just covered it up with brush he found around the wreckage, then later called the sheriff and reported it to him. The sheriff then contacted the Roswell Army Air field and they came to retrieve the wreckage. and Mrs. Dan Wilmot. They were sitting on their porch on Wednesday night when there was a glowing object raced across the sky. Mr. Wilmot estimated that it was in the sky for less then a minute, and that it made no sound. He said that he guessed it to be about 20 feet in diameter and flying about 400-500 miles per hour. The other two articles talk about the rancher who found the wreckage, and what the object was. According to Brig. Gen. Roger M. Ramey, commander of the Eighth air forces cleared everything up when he announced that it was just a weather balloon used for measuring wind velocity at high altitudes. He also explained that the need for these balloons is because the human eye cannot see this high up and the balloons provided very useful information. Gen.
