Who wouldn’t give up her seat because she thought everyone deserves equality? If you guessed Rosa Parks you’re correct. On Feb. 4, 1913 Rosa Parks was welcomed into this world by her parents Leon McCauley and James McCauley (McDonough). She was born in Tuskegee, Alabama (McDonough). Rosa Parks grew up and got enrolled in Montgomery Industrial School for Girls (McDonough). Rosa Parks was youngest of her and her brother, but that didn’t stop her. She ended up getting married in 1932 to Raymond Parks (McDonough). Raymond Parks and Rosa Parks never had kids even though Rosa wanted to (biography.com). In 1934, a couple years after they were married, Raymond encouraged Rosa to get her high School Diploma (biography.com). So Rosa went back to school and got her diploma that same year (biography.com). In 1943 Rosa became a Secretary of the Montgomery Chapter of the NAACP (biography.com). The year of 1955 Rosa Parks got out of work and got on the bus to go home (rosaparksfacts.com). But she sat in the white section, so the bus driver went back their and told her to scoot (rosaparksfacts.com). But she refused, so he called the cops and they came and arrested her. However, the same year what she did started the Montgomery boycott (rosaparksfacts.com). In 1956 the boycott ended and whites and blacks could sit were they picked and chose (rosaparksfacts.com). A year after the boycott, Raymond and Rosa moved to Detroit, Michigan (biography.com). After Raymond and Rosa got settled in, Rosa began working for Rep. John Conyers Jr., of Michigan (biography.com). In 1977 Raymond died, of old age. 1987 Rosa established the Rosa and Raymond Parks institute for Self Development (biography.com).
