Romeo and Juliet 's Theme of Youth and Excitement Rather than Sentimental Love Although scenes of youth and excitement do exist, I totally disagree with the critics. I believe the play consists of sentimental love between Romeo and Juliet and that the scenes of youth and excitement are used only to implement tragedy. I will now back up my opinion with evidence and quotes from the play. To begin with, the first fight occurs between the servants, this serves to inform the audience of the feud and prepares us for the fight scene in Act 3 Scene1. The ball scene plays a major part in the play, it is an exciting scene but its included to enable the characters to meet. It all starts when the Montague's sneak into the Capulet's ball. Romeo and his fellow Montague's are able to get into the ball because it is a 'Masked Ball'. Just these small details tell the audience that their love was meant to be, almost like fate. Romeo is enjoying the party when suddenly he sees a beautiful looking young woman. From here onwards he cannot take his eyes off Juliet just like she cant with Romeo. I don't believe that Romeo had fallen in love with Rosaline but this time he had, with a different girl 'O she doth teach the torches to burn bright' Romeo did not say these things about Rosaline and this then strengthens the point that he had fallen in love with this girl who he doesn't even know the name of. Meanwhile, Juliet was being forced to marry an older man against her own will, but all this would change as she would do anything to be with Romeo. Romeo pulls Juliet behind a pillar and kisses her before even speaking to her. Juliet then finds out that Romeo is a Montague "My only love sprung from my only hate" this quote says it all she loved him dearly but could not be seen with him as they are on opposite sides of two rival families in Verona.
In the Ian Mckellen version of the play I think the scene is made much
Love, what a small word for being one of the most powerful and complicated emotion someone can receive. Love grants people an experience of other emotions such as, sadness, happiness, jealousy, hatred and many more. It is because of those characteristics that love creates that make it so difficult to define the emotion in a few words. In the play, “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, defy their parents in hopes of being able to be together and live a happy life. The characters in “Romeo and Juliet” show the characteristics of love through their words and actions throughout the play. The attributes the characters illustrate throughout the play are rage, loyalty, and sorrow.
shall firstly do a summery of the play and give a basic image of what

In my opinion Act 1 Scene 1 is the most important scene of the play
Just as the Friar says in the beginning of the Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet, “Wisely and slowly, they stumble that run fast.” (II.iii.94). this was a sign of foreshadowing for for the death of the lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Even though fate was a factor that had contributed to a tragic end, there was also personal choice involved, and ultimately, the story may have had a different ending if it weren’t for the flaws of the lovers and their inability to have a grip on reality in dire circumstances. Over the course of the play, the lovers from the conflicting households have not matured and remain rather static in development. Furthermore, in this tragedy, the only son of the montages remains rather childlike, Juliet still seems immature and their relationship over all seems more like a play act on lover rather then something mature and sustainable. Overall, from start to finish, Romeo and Juliet were living in the moment, being absurd and silly rather then focusing on the future and trying to work problems out effectively.
When tackling the differences between self-love within the stories of Romeo and Juliet, as well as Sense and Sensibility, we must first look at the meaning of this said expression. Self-love can be expressed as the pursuit of one’s goal for love, regardless of any outside factors. In simpler terms, characters will go to whatever means necessary to ensure their love for another person. Whether it causes harm to one’s family or if it takes failure to realize what true love really is, self-love can be seen as a major theme among either story.
Juliet handles a plethora of responsibility for someone of her age. She is almost able to handle it with a degree of rationality before she meets Romeo, her fate decided love. Juliet’s feelings for Romeo transform her maturity and develop her character. Shakespeare originally creates Juliet as a more apprehensive character but throughout Romeo and Juliet he develops her character into a strong female protagonist. Juliet transitions from an adolescent to a woman in a few short days. throughout the play her sexual and emotional maturity increase. Juliet gains intelligence and independence while defying her parent’s desire for the boy she loves. Juliet’s parents wish for her to marry Paris but she wants to marry Romeo, her parents are disappointed with her behavior but she makes her own decision to marry Romeo in secrecy.

There are three main types of love shown in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet such as Romantic love, Unrequited love and the love Juliet and her nurse share.
Envy. Fear. Pride, affection, and lust. These are all emotions. Often times, emotions such as these can affect our actions. When that happens, things don’t always go according to plan. Which leads to a question with an answer everyone can benefit from; What results when one emotionally responds to a tense situation? In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, there are several examples of this. But there is one main event that focuses more on the topic at hand than the others. Juliet’s cousin,Tybalt’s actions are mostly caused by his emotions. Even more so when Tybalt rounds up on Romeo and tries to fight him after the party that Tybalt thought he was trying to crash. Tybalt has a habit of acting upon emotions. When people react based on emotion,
the play is not solely about love but also a lot of hatred is involved
In the first scene of Act one there is the servants Sampson and Gregory talking about sexual love. As they both talk about taking girls virginity. They both sound arrogant as they talk as if it is through experience. To them the thoughts of taking a girl’s virginity seems a joking matter.
This scene is important in context to the entire play because it provides a crucial change of mood. This scene, in one respect, is the climax of the dark, tragic half of the play. The sombre undertones of jealousy, betrayal, anger, regret, grief and sorrow are relieved by the light hearted, slightly comic scene which follows. How the scene is a climax, the events which make the scene tragic, will both be exploredin this essay.
