On July 21, 1981 an artist was born. Romeo Santos is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer and former lead vocalists of the American bachata band Aventura. Romeo was born to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother in the Bronx, New York. His mom stood home to take care of the family while the father was working at construction. Romeo and his three cousins Lenny, Max, and Henry created their own group called “ Los Tinellers” in the early 1990s and changed their group name to Aventura.

His father Jose Santana was a talented violinist and would be one of the main inspirations for Carlos Santana to pursue a musical career. His father pushed Santana to learn the violin at the young age of four, although Santana didn’t appreciate the hours of forced practice he says that it’s what made him so good at playing music. He was destined for greatness and is often regarded as a child prodigy in the musical community. Santana and his family moved from their home town to the border city of Tijuana in 1955 and the eight year old Santana was immediately captivated by the music culture in the city. He left around August 1487 and went around the tip of Africa in January 1488. The Portuguese people named this land the Cape of Good Hope. Bartolomeu Dias got lost at sea during another trip around the Cape in 1500.
